SUNDAY READINGS: Nov. 9, 2025
USCB Weekly Readings Calendar: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings

In this weekend’s Gospel (John 2:13 –22), we hear about Jesus cleansing the Temple. Jesus drives out the money changers and calls the people back to the true purpose of God’s house. His words and actions reveal a deep love for his Father’s dwelling: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” Jesus’ passion was not about bricks and stone, but about the sacred space where God meets God’s people.
That same zeal lives on in the heart of our parish today. This weekend, as we listened to the testimonies of fellow parishioners, we heard stories of faith, gratitude, and love for this spiritual home. Each person shared how God has touched their life here - through worship, service, friendship, and the ministries that help us recognize Christ’s presence in our community.
Their witness reminds us that our parish is more than a building - it’s a living temple of the Holy Spirit, built from the faith and generosity of its people. When we pray, serve, and give, we are the hands and feet of Christ, transforming hearts and opening doors for others to encounter Christ.
As we reflect on these testimonies and the Gospel, let’s ask ourselves: How is God opening the door and
inviting me to share my time, my talents, or my treasure to strengthen this spiritual home?
Next weekend, we will invite you to make a commitment to support our parish with your gifts of prayer, time, talent, and treasure. We encourage you to take some time this week to review our Ministry Handbook and see if any opportunities are calling you to get involved. You can also visit our Annual Renewal page to set up your pledge and gift.

May our own “zeal for God’s house” inspire us to care for our parish community with joyful, generous hearts so that together, we can continue to be a place where all are welcomed, formed, and sent forth to live the Gospel.
Thank you for all you do to make this parish a home that we all want to be part of.

As part of the Eucharistic Revival, more emphasis is being put on reverence for the Eucharist. Here is a brief review on how we as practicing Catholics should receive the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass.
• Before Mass: Be prepared before going to communion. You should be in a state of grace (not aware of any unconfessed mortal sins.)

• Bow Your Head: As you approach the altar, bow your head as a sign of respect to the host and cup. Remember this is the Body and Blood of Christ.
• Form a Throne: Place your left hand flat in front of your body and place your right hand underneath it to create a “throne” to receive the host.
• Receive the Host: The eucharistic minister will place the host in your left palm. When the minister says, “The Body of Christ,” respond with “Amen.” Consume the
host immediately with your right hand before moving to the cup minister.
• Receive the Cup: The same procedure holds true when receiving the cup. Hold the cup with both hands, the minister will say, “The Blood of Christ,” you respond with “Amen.”
• Receiving on the Tongue: Open your mouth slightly and extend your tongue for the eucharistic minister to place the host on it. Do not move, remain still to make it easier for the minister to place the host accurately. After the host is placed on your tongue, swallow it immediately.
• After Receiving Communion: Return to your pew, kneel, and offer a short prayer of thanksgiving for what you have received.
We as Catholics believe that the eucharist is the Source and Summit, Jesus Christ is truly present in the form of bread and wine. This is what sets us apart from other Christian denominations. Receiving communion is an act that should not be taken lightly. Please consider this the next time you receive communion.
Four of our Partners in Mercy are in desperate need of food and monetary donations to purchase food. We are all asked to prayerfully consider giving.
From MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary:
Our outreach guests include those who are “doubled up” homeless (living under the same roof in crowded conditions) as well as households at risk of homelessness in the impoverished 53206 zip code. Many of our guests stay in underheated or unheated living spaces.
People’s Table:
(formerly Jim Luther New Hope Center)
We have experienced double and triple the number of families over the past two weeks. On Tuesday they pantry served over 150 families in just one zip code.
Monday, November 17 |6 to 7 pm
We have invited Rich Redor, new director at the Archdiocese Respect Life Ministry. All are welcome! Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can reserve the proper meeting room space. Email Terry Robinson at robinsont@stanthony.cc.
Please leave food items in any of the bins and checks, with “food donation” in the memo, can be dropped in the black box by the back office door opposite the restrooms. Our Partners in Mercy appreciate the generous help given by members of St. Anthony on the Lake parish.

THINGS I WISH I HAD SAID by Al McCauley
“We can serve our weakness, or we can serve our purpose. Not both.” - ST. FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI

Devon Theil Science Teacher
I am so excited to be a part of the St. Anthony on the Lake community as the middle school science teacher. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a degree in Biological Sciences. I had the privilege of meeting most of the middle school students early by coaching some of them in basketball and track. I am an active person, enjoying activities such as playing golf, fishing, working out, and taking walks around the neighborhood with my wife. When I’m not doing any of those things, I love to watch football and play fantasy football with my friends - and yes, I’m a huge Packers fan!
This year, the sixth graders will explore the various aspects of Earth and Space in science. This includes weather, Earth’s climate, and, of course, some space. For our seventh-grade students, they will be working in the realm of physical sciences. This includes forces and motion, energy and energy transfer, and even a little chemistry. Recently, the seventh graders finished their unit on forces and motion by building mousetrap cars. They built a car that was powered by only one mouse trap. The students competed against each other to see which car could go the farthest.

Lastly, the eighth -grade students will focus on life science. This will be a preview of what they will see as freshmen in a biology class. The students recently completed units in Ecology where they learned about the different relationships that organisms have with each other, different ecosystems, and the different impacts that can affect those ecosystems (human impact, environmental, etc.). In the upcoming units, the students will be learning about cells and the systems of plants and animals. So far, the eighth graders have practiced using microscopes to look at different bacteria and body parts of micro -organisms at the microscopic level. I’m looking forward to these upcoming units for all three grade levels, and continuing our learning paths throughout the school year.
