How Will You Open the Door?

As we enter the month of November, the Church invites us to pause and remember in a special way all the souls who have gone before us. On All Souls’ Day, we honor those whose faith, sacrifice, and love built the foundation upon which we stand today. Our parish is what it is because of generations who prayed, served, gave, and trusted in God’s abundant goodness. We are the beneficiaries of their faith.

Just as they opened doors for us, we are called to open doors for others to Christ, to our community, and beyond. Stewardship is one of the most tangible ways we do this together. Each year, we renew our commitment of prayer, time, talent, and treasure, recognizing that all we have is a gift from God, meant to be shared generously.

Over the next few weeks, we will journey together as a parish in this spirit of remembrance and renewal.

On the weekend of November 8 and 9 , we will share testimonials from fellow parishioners, celebrating the ways St. Anthony on the Lake has shaped lives, strengthened faith, and become a spiritual home and second family to so many. These stories are living reminders that our parish is more than buildings and programs it is a vibrant community where Christ is encountered daily.

Then, on the weekend of November 15 and 16 , we will celebrate Commitment Weekend . You should have received a letter in the mail inviting you to begin to prayerfully consider how you might share your prayer, time, talent, and treasure this upcoming year.

Commitment Weekend is the time when we make our pledges for the coming year, allowing us to be good stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us and to plan wisely for the year ahead. Each gift, whether through prayer, service, or financial support, helps us continue the mission entrusted to us. Together, we ensure that St. Anthony on the Lake remains a place where faith is nurtured and the doors to Christ are opened wide for all.

To help you discern where your gifts might fit best, be sure to check out the Ministry Matchmaker bulletin and Ministry Handbook the pews this weekend or online. They are great resources to explore ways to share your time and talents with our community.

There’s a place for everyone to get involved!

As you prayerfully consider how God is calling you to open the door to Christ, I invite you to reflect on the legacy you are part of and the legacy you will leave.

Let us honor those who came before us by making sure St. Anthony on the Lake remains a place where people can grow in faith and love for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of our parish family and for all you do to support our community!

THANK YOU to those who donated to “Life’s Connection.” The campaign was a huge success! In 2024, client care increased by 34% and they continue to change the lives of those who need support. They sustained much damage from the flood in August, losing almost everything at the Waukesha location, including their diaper supply. A special thanks to Peter & Alice Schulties for loaning and setting up the baby playpen and display.

One Church, One Family Catholic Public Witness for Immigrants

Last week at Cathedral Square, Bishops Haines and Schuerman gathered with the faithful for a peaceful, family-friend event with a candlelight procession in support of immigrants.

FROM OUR SCHOOL: 5 th Grade is Opening the Door!

Our 5th graders have had a great start to the year! As we prepare for middle school, I have been incorporating organizational skills like using planners and prioritizing tasks. This has been, and will be, a focus throughout the year. I have been introducing study skills and time management techniques now, which will set a strong foundation for their transition to middle school next year. One highlight to start the year has been weekly visits from Waukesha County Sheriff Deputy Mark Danielski who is teaching students about Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.). It is an anti -drug program taught to 5th grade students sponsored by the Waukesha County Sheriff Department. Students are shown the hazards of drug abuse and violence and taught practical ways to resist those pressures. We all had a great time at the Retzer Nature Center and the Marian Shrine. Lastly, we spent some time with our 4K buddies. Students have been doing a great job helping them during school Mass and we look forward to more activities with them throughout the year!
