STANG Magazine Special Edition Issue: Spring Fever 2025
FEATURING: SPY OCTANE
THE VEHICLES OF JAMES BOND
Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! -

Spy Octane, the new Porter Press book revealing the secrets of the vehicles in the James Bond films, has won rave reviews in the first few weeks since it was published.
Reviewers say Spy Octane is “definitive”, “wonderful”, “compelling” and a “masterpiece”. The research behind the book, by acclaimed Bond historians Matthew Field and Ajay Chowdhury, is described as “staggering”, “exhaustive” and “painstaking”. Meanwhile, every buyer review at porterpress.co.uk gives Spy Octane the full five-star rating.
Spy Octane tells the behind-the-scenes stories of the spectacular array of transport which propelled Sean Connery and George Lazenby in seven action-packed James Bond movies, from Dr. No (1962) to Diamonds Are Forever (1971).
If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquiring this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!
MUSTANG – Goldfinger/Diamonds Are Forever
The ’71 Mustang Mach 1 was put through its paces by Sean Connery in downtown Las Vegas for Diamonds Are Forever. The book feature we will share the fascinating behind the scenes stories of how the Bond producers were able to close downtown Vegas and how Tournament of Thrills legend Buzz Bundy’s two-wheel stunt became one of the most famous movie bloopers of all time. We will also reveal how the whereabouts of the Fastbacks used in the film has caused contention in the Mustang community for decades.
Ian Fleming: The Man Behind Bond
Ian Fleming had a lifelong passion for motoring, and he gave his fictional alter-ego, James Bond, a similar fascination for
well-engineered cars. Citing his fellow writer and friend, the humourist, Cyril Connolly, Fleming said, “If men were honest, they would admit that their motorcars came next after their women and children in their list of loves. I won’t go all the way with him on that, but I do enjoy well-designed and attractively wrapped bits of machinery that really work.” The book profiles the cars owned and driven by Ian Fleming, the prolific automotive figures who inspired his writing and how exotic transportation became a key ingredient of the James Bond cocktail.
I met Daniel Ramey at a Beltway Mustang show and won my spot with STANG Magazine in their Carlisle Ford Nationals display. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect being that I didn’t know the people attending and was going by myself.

Spy Octane includes an extraordinary collection of archive images which have never previously been published. “Some of these pictures have sat in attics for more than half a century,” says Matthew. “We have been granted access to private and corporate archives all over the world, including those of

There are also photographs, drawings and production memos from the collections of custom car builders Dean Jeffries and George Barris, who built futuristic vehicles for Diamonds Are Forever.

Spy Octane draws upon dozens of exclusive interviews with directors, actors, stunt-drivers, special effects specialists, designers, motor industry executives, museum curators and private owners to reveal how these incredible vehicles were created – and to unearth the story of what became of them after filming.
“The history of some of these vehicles is unbelievable and rivals even the most far-fetched espionage story,” says Matthew. “To weave all these extraordinary untold stories among more than 800 images, many of which have never been published before, is a dream come true.”
“We have been blessed with the cooperation of so many who have entrusted us with their stories for the first time,” says Ajay. “We have also unearthed 007 vehicles which were thought to have been lost forever.”
Spy Octane takes readers on a fascinating, unique, filmmaking and automotive ride. “Matthew and I realised we’ve written both a film and a vehicular history combined with a mod-
ern day ‘where are they now?’ tale,” says Ajay. “We’re very excited to share it with the world.”
