MrChris HeadofPhysicalEducation&On the weekend of January 20th and 21st, S107 entered the BSL Girls Football Tournament. Hosting football teams and academies from all acrossAsia,includingHongKong,Vietnam,IndonesiaandSingapore,as wellasteamsfromallacrossThailand-thiswasacompetitionofthe highestlevel.
Wetookanimpressive5teams,competingintheU8,U10,U12,U14andU18 agecategories.OurU8andU10teamalsoincludedwonderfulplayersfrom ourStAndrewssisterschools,DusitandSathorn.Itwassogreattosee suchagreatturnoutofStAndrewsstudents!
Theleveloffootballwasextremelyhighandacrossthe5agecategories wehadvariedsuccessatdifferentlevels.Thegameswereallplayedin goodspiritsandevenwhenunsuccessfulwhengoingforawin,wewere alwaysatoughteamtobeatandputupagoodmatchagainsteveryone weplayed.
Astheseconddaycametoanend,evenwithplayerstiredandhot,their determination and effort never faded and the girls kept on pushing themselves in every game. As the final results came in, we were not champions,however,wedidmanagetofinishtheeventwithtwotrophies andallofourstudentsreceivedmedalsfortheirhardworkanddedication. Greatwork,everyone!
Saturday, 3rd of February, was the U15 1 Day 1 Goal tournament at St Andrews,GreenValley.WetookbothaBoysandGirlsteamtorepresent S107anditturnedouttobeagreatdayoffootball.
Both teams got the ball down and were passing well. The girls were pressinghighandtryingtowintheballupthepitchfromthedefenders, withAnyaandTanyachasingeverythingdown.TheBoysneverneededto press the defenders as they barely gave up possession, with Hugo commandingdefence,andPeakonceagaincontrollingthegame.
As the day went on, the results were varied for boys and girls teams. DespiteWiskeandPaulafiringoffshots,thegirlscouldnotfindthenetand evenwithsomegreatperformances,thegoalsandthereforethepoints, werenotcomingourway.
Theboys,however,werehavingmoresuccessinfrontofgoal.WithTT scoringsomewonderfulgoals,theywerecollectingpointsandheadingfor astrongfinish.LastyearatU13wewonthisevent,butthistime,theboys just slipped at the end. However, they still finished a fantastic second place.Thegirlsdidnotplaceinthetop3butcanbeproudofplayingsome ofthebestfootballontheday.

TheU9BoyshavebeentraininghardinTerm2.Withmoreandmorepupils joining the football ECA, we now have a big squad to choose from. This is greatnewsasweenteredtwoU9boysteamsintothePrimaryGreenValley Games Competition and both represented the school well, showing an ever-increasingprogressionasateam.
AnothereventthattookplaceinTerm2,wastheTISACFUTSALtournament, hosted here at S107. The boys worked hard and did well in an event that is always quite difficult as we rarely practise indoor football. The goals were hardtocomebyinthesmallergoalsbutArlodidmanagetofindtheneton occasionandwithRionmakingaseriesofgoodsavesingoal,wemadesure thatwewerehardtobeatandgaveeveryoneagoodgame.

The U9 Girls have enjoyed plenty of success in Term 2. Our U8’s team represented the school brilliantly in the BSL Tournament, putting in some fantastic performances against some of the best teams in Asia for their age group. The team earned themselves a trophy in recognition of their excellent sportsmanshipandspirit.
Justafewdayslater,theU9’swontheirsecondtrophyoftheweekattheTISAC Futsal tournament. Despite some tough opening games, the girls turned it aroundandwonthecrucialknockoutmatchtoearnaplaceinthefinal.Witha nail-biting match ending 0-0, three tense periods of overtime were still not enoughtoseparateS107andDusit.Intheend,itwasdecidedbothteamswould sharethetrophyasjointwinners.Aproudachievementandatestamenttothe team'sdedicationanddrive
More recently, the U9s enjoyed further success at the Green Valley Games. The U9 Blues gave their all in every game and won a crucial penalty shoot-out to claim the 2nd place trophy in the B team competition. Meanwhile, the U9 Reds simply couldn’t stop scoring and stormed their way to the A team final. Once

The U11 Boys Term 2 started with the TISAC football tournament. Despite sometop-levelskillsfromtheU11’sCaptain,Krish,andsomemagicalsaves from Vilmer, the boys succumbed to some unfortunate defeats which put themoutsidethemedalplaces.
A bounce-back friendly thrashing of Raffles followed before their opening leaguegameoftheGBACleaguevsBrighton.107showedwhattheyareall about, running up comfortable 6-0 winners and starting their league campaigninstyle.
The U11 Boys entered Green Valley Games in high spirits and immediately putlocalrivals,Sathorn,underpressure.Somegreatpassingmovesledto S107takinga2-1leadintothefinalmoments,butaswithmanygamesthis season,the3pointsweredramaticallysnatchedawaywithalateleveller. TheboysfollowedthisupwithadifficultgameagainstGarden,losing3-1, beforebeatingtheirotherStAndrewsrivals,Dusit,4-1.Afterback-to-back games 107foundthemselvesout-workedandout-playedbyGreenValley
Friday,26thofJanuary,S107hostedtheTISACU11FUTSALtournament.Wewent intothistournamentaschampions,withagoodstart,hopingtodefendour crown.Ourfirstmatchproducedshotaftershotbutunfortunatelyforus,these shotswerenotproducinggoalaftergoal.Wecontinuedtopressforwardbut ran out of time and it ended in a draw. The next match was not our best performanceandwesadlylost,meaningthetitlemightnowbebeyondour reach.However,thegirlswereresilientanddidnotgiveupeasily!Theywent on to produce 4 straight back-to-back wins with some amazing football on displayandlotsofgoalsandcleansheets.Leavingourselvesalittletoomuch todo,thisgreatrundidnotseeuscrownedchampions,butitwasenoughfor ustotakethe2ndplacetrophyasdeservedrunnersup.Greatwork!

TherehasbeensomegreatsuccessfortheU13BoysfootballinTerm2.Itbegan in January with an unbeaten run in the TISAC Futsal tournament at S107. The first game was won convincingly, with the boys managing to play some excellent football in very tight spaces. The second group game was closer, however some urgent defence put the opposition under a lot of pressure and ultimatelyledtogoalsforthehometeam.Theboyseventuallywentontoreach the final, where they continued to pressure the opposition defensively and move the ball around well in attack, taking shooting opportunities when they came,earningthemselvesawell-deservedwinnerstrophy.
Two league matches for the GBAC competition also took place Term 2. Both games were very one-sided with S107 showing some excellent 7-a-side football.Theboyslookforwardtoplayingtheirremainingleaguefixturesnext termandhopefullychallengingfortheleaguetitle.
There have also been a few friendly matches during Term 2. Two S107 teams were invited to Bangkok Patana. This was a great afternoon out, which saw both of our teams having some success against some tough opposition and improvingasthegamesprogressed.ManyU13studentsalsoplayedinanU14 friendly fixture. Saturday,27thofJanuarywastheU13TISACFUTSALtournamentatS107.Withit onlybeingasmallevent,wewouldplayatotaloffivegames,ifwemadeitto thefinal.WestartedwellwithRiascoringaheaderinthefirstminuteandthis ledtoagreatperformanceandanopeningwin.
Thiswasfollowedupwithadrawandthen2morewins,thelastagainstthe teamwewouldonceagainhavetoplayinthefinal.Wehadfinishedthegroup stageontop,asthehighestscoringteamandtheonlyteamnottoconcedea singlegoal.Thefinalbeganandastimedrewtoaclose,itwas0-0.
Extratimewasneededanditwasstillnotenoughtobreakthe0-0tie.Finally,a penalty shootout was required. Sadly, we lost this and once again, finished second.Weweretheonlyteamnottoloseagameandnottoconcedeagoal andwewonmoregamesthananyoneelse,yetwedidnotwinthetournament. After a decent stretch without fixtures, the boys made the most of their new training regime to go undefeated so far in 2024, including lifting the TISAC Tournament trophy on home soil. The inclusion of Peak in the squad has undoubtedly helped us focus on attacking football and he has scored some trulyastonishinggoals.
Justasimpressivehasbeenadisciplinedandorganiseddefencethathasonly letinonegoalintheirlastfivematches!Ouralternatinggoalkeepers,Nilsand Yves, should be proud of this achievement. It's great to see their hard work payingoffandwearehopingtoextendourunbeatenrunandplayevenmore tantalisingfootball.
Thegirlshaveonlyplayedoneleaguegamethistermandthiswasa1-1draw.
This was a frustrating result as the players deserved so much more for their effort,commitmentandqualityshownthroughoutthegame.Nextterm,there willbemanymorematches,aswelooktokeepworkinghardintheleagueand looktoplaceashighaswecan.
Despiteonlyoneleaguematch,thegirlshavebeenverybusycompetinginthe BLSTournamentwithdifferentteamsfromacrossAsiaandinthe1Day1Goal tournament at our sister school, St Andrews Green Valley. These were two tougheventsthatwillhaveaddedtooursquaddevelopment.Onthatnote,we have also added to our U15 squad which now boasts an amazing 18 students. Term2sawtheU19GirlsstartwithaGBACFootballTournament.TheFridaynightgames testedourteamfromthebeginning,withlotsofchancesthroughouttheevening,butwe werenotalwaysabletocapitaliseonthem.WefacedTSISinthefirstgame.Asalwaysitwas acloselyfought,intensegame,butthankfullyinthefinalfewminutes,webrokethe deadlockandmanageda1-0victory.
OursecondgamesawusfaceSPIPinaverycloselyfoughtgame.Thetacticsemployed meantthattheywereplayinganunusualformationandcaughtusoffguard.However,it wasahighscoringgamewiththefinalresultsfinishing3-3.Afterthegoaldifference,S107 foundthemselvesinthe3rd/4thplaceplayoff.
Withtheleaguestillahead,studentsregainedfocusandcomposure.Duetotheheat,the gameswereplayedin4quarters.WithTSIS,studentsagainworkedhardbutfoundthatthey couldnotbreakthedeadlockuntilthelastminutesofthelastquarter,finishingonapositive notewithavictory.ThesecondleaguematchpittedusagainstSPIP,whoemployedthe sametacticasatthetournament.Thistime,wewerepreparedandhadmodifiedourown strategytoensurewepreventedthemfromhavinganyopportunitiesongoal.Inthedying moments,theymanagedtogetaconciliationgoal,withS107winning2-1.
ThenextgameagainstWCIB,sawsomenotableplayersunabletoplay.However,thewhole team stepped up with individuals finding excellent form and converting several opportunities.Ourbiggestvictoryofthisyearendedwitha4-1win.

Two of our teams in Group 2 finishedinsecondplace,claiminganothertwotrophies.U9andU11teamsinGroup1, both made it to the final. The U9 Girls match went all the way to penalties but unluckilywelost,again,insuddendeath.TheU11Girls,lookingtorightthewrongof lastyear,wonthefinal,claimingthevictoryandchampionstrophytheydeserved. Thefourteamsfinishedwithfourtrophies,includingU11GirlsChampions.
Day3,thefinalday.Everyonewasstillinhighspiritsandlookedalotlesstiredthanall theteachersdidbythispoint!T-ballisahardgamewithlotsofrulesbutwehave beenworkingonthissportinPEthisyearandtheworkclearlypaidoff.Thewonderful U9teamshowedlotsofconfidenceintheirhittingandmuchimprovedfieldingfrom lastyear.TheU11hadthreeteamsintwogroups,meaningtwoteamswereinthe samegroupandwehadanS107vsS107match.OurU9teamfinishedinanimpressive 3rdplace.OurtwoteamsinU11Group2finished2ndand3rd,takinghome2trophies. U11 team in Group 1 finished joint top, in a three-way tie. As it had been all tournament,wenarrowlylostout,asitcamedowntorunsscoredandwewere3rdin thatcategory.TheU11’shadtosettleforthe3rdplacetrophyratherthan1st.
Whatanamazing3daysofsports,somanystudents,somuchsupport,somany trophies-whatmorecouldweaskforfromourstudents!Thankyousomuchtoallof ourexcellentstudentswhotookpart,thefantasticparentswhorepresentedour schoolsowellandtoalloftheteachersthathelpedcoach,whatwasintheend,22 differentsportsteams.Unbelievablework,everyone!

Day1beganwithswimming.Itwassogoodtoseesomanyofourstudentsgetting intothepoolandrepresentingtheschoolinasportthatisnowgrowingwithin S107.Wetookseveral1stplacefinishesandevenmoretop3’s,asweshowedlotsof gritanddeterminationthroughouttheSwimMeet,settingagreatplatformforthe restofourothersportingcompetitions!
Day2startedwithdodgeball.BoththeU9BoysandU9Girlscompetedinwarrior dodgeball,whichisafunandexcitinggamewhereplayersdonotgooutbut progressupordownlevels,basedonbeinghitorhittingyouropponent.Allofthe U9studentscamebackhappyandtiredafterwhatweresomegreatmatches againsttheotherschools.
AnotherDay2activity,justfortheU11’s,wasbasketball.Thegirlsstartedthe morning working hard, playing well and scoring points. These excellent performanceswerewellrewardedwithall3teamsreachingthefinals.Unluckily, allthreeteamsfinishedsecondinverytightfinalmatches,withoneteamcoming upshortinfreethrow‘offs’!Butthreeteamsandthreetrophieswasanamazing accomplishmentfromourgirlsanditwasfantastictoseeeveryonesupporting eachother,especiallyinthefinals!Welldone,girls!
Theboysfollowedupwithbasketballintheafternoon.Thegirlshadsetahigh standard already and this was followed up by the boys, with fantastic performancesacrossallthreeteams.Withtightmatchesandgreatperformances throughoutalongafternoon,theboyswerealsoonthehuntfortrophieslateon. Onefinalresultedinanarrowdefeatviaafree-throwshootout,whichwelostin suddendeath,claiminganothersecondplacefinish.Anotherresultedinvictory andusclaimingourfirstChampionstrophy.Welldonethealltheboysplaying, andagain,thesupportinthefinalswasamazing,withS107beingtheloudest schoolaround!
On28thofMarchweenteredourfirstU7BasketballFestival,consistingof10 amazing students from Year 1 & 2. This was a great event and it was so much fun to see them competing in basketball for the first time. We split thesestudentsintotwoteamsandplayedatotalof12matchesthroughout themorning.
Althoughnoofficialscorewasbeingkept,allteamsweredefinitelylooking to score lots of baskets. Violet and Copper scored lots for one team and Gun and Chad built up a good counter attack strategy on the other team thatalsoledtolotsofbaskets.Thiswasagreatindicationoftheamazing t l t h i th hth h l dI it dt
ThistermhasseentheboysparticipateintheTISACbasketballevents,which haveincludedleaguematchesandatournament.Thematchescamethick andfast,startingwithalosstotheeventualleaguewinners.However,after that first game, the boys have grown and developed, delivering better performancesineachsubsequentmatch.Theyhaverecordedafewwinsand a few defeats this term, but all matches have been close and competitive throughout.
Tournaments have seen us fair even better. In the TISAC tournament, the boysmanagedtofinishin3rdplacewithsomeimpressiveperformancesand we were very unlucky not to make the final. At Green Valley, the boys did even better. With a total of three teams in different competitions, they finishedasChampionsinonecategoryand2ndplacerunnersupinanother, showingjusthowwelltheyareprogressingasplayersandmoreimportantly

TheU11Girlsbasketballteamcontinuestogroweveryterm.It'swonderfulto seemoregirlsinterestedinplayingbasketball,attendingECAs,andmatches. Theyhavebeenabsolutelyamazingthisterm,winningeverygamesofarin both the TISAC league and the tournaments. The girls have shown great dedication throughout the year, practicing before school, asking for extra lunchtime practice, and working hard to improve their skills every week duringECAs.Asacoachit’sbeenajoytoseethemgrowandimproveasa teamandtoseeeveryplayergainconfidence,bothintrainingandmatches.

TheU13BoysbasketballteamwerekeentofollowuptheirsuccessfulTerm1 withanequallysuccessfulTerm2.Theirfirstgamesawthemwinthefirst TISACleaguematchbyaconvincingmargin.Eachleaguematchseemedto be against progressively harder opposition, yet the team regularly demonstratedtheirabilitytostartgameswithintensityandremainfocused throughout. This saw them as eventual league champions, with an impressiveunbeatenrun.
During the TISAC tournament, the boys faced some tough competition. Despitethis,S107cameawayrunnersup,beatingsomegoodteamsalong theway.Attimestheyshowedexcellentman-to-mandefenceandwere abletocreatesomegreatattackingopportunities.Theyeventuallylostthe final 24-12, which was a resilient effort against a team with some exceptionallytalentedplayers.
The U13 Boys B team attended a tournament at Brighton College. They playedagainstsometoughoppositionbutwereabletoimprovethroughout thedayandenjoyedplayingsomecompetitivebasketball.Morerecently, theteamplayedinaveryclosematchagainstRegentsInternationalSchool, fallingshortbyjustacoupleofpoints.However,thisperformancereally showcased Welookfo nmore basketbal

TheU13Girlsbasketballteamhasshowncontinuedgrowththisseasonandhas carried over the skills they developed from the previous season. They have demonstratedgreatenthusiasmduringpracticeinimprovingalloftheirskills, includingdribbling,shooting,passing,andteamplay.Ourfocusthisseasonwas todeveloppassing,movementwithouttheball,andcutting.Theteamworked reallyhardontheseskills,andasaresult,ourgamesshowedmoremovement andinvolvementforthewholeteam.
Ourteamstartedreallystronginourleaguegames,winningalloftheleague gamesthatweplayed.Thegirlsshowedgreatteamworkandenergyinallthese games, cheering for each other and ensuring everyone was involved. In the tournament, we played some very close games but lost two in nail-biting fashion.However,ourteamralliedandfinishedstrong,achievingathird-place finishintheTISACtournament.Iamreallyproudtoseetheteamcamaraderie andthedevelopmentofballmovementthisseason!
The U15 Boys basketball team has seen a few new faces in Term 2, adding enthusiasmtothesquad.Withagoodwininthefirstgameoftheseason,the boyswereonahighleadinguptotheSundaytournament.Thetournament resulted in another good outcome, with a second-place finish. The boys showed great fighting spirit to stay in the last game of the day before eventually succumbing in the second half. The Y10 lads were able to show theway,withtheyoungerY9studentsputtingingoodshiftstosupportthe playandimprovetheirowngames.Theteamhasbeenplayingagreatlevel ofbasketball,withgoodballmovementcreatingscoringopportunitiesand solid defense to keep the opposition scores low. Faced with formidable opponents, the team showcased their skills and unwaveringdedication,leadingthemtoanimpressivethird-placefinishin theTISACTournament.Theirjourneywasatestamenttotheirhardworkand perseverance,inspiringnotonlythemselvesbutalsotheirsupporters.

In the league, our Boys competed against Regents (REG), Singapore International(SISB),BangkokChristian(BCIS),Bromsgrove(BIST),Charter (CHA)andTraill(TIS).AftertwosolidstartsagainstBISTandCHA,withour boysplayingsometoughawaygamesbutcomingawaywiththevictory,we then hosted BCIS at home. It was an incredibly close game, with some outstandingperformancesbutunfortunately(andincredibly),BCISscoreda last second three point buzzer beater to win! Following on from this, we playedREG,wherethesamethinghappenedagain!Itwasgreattoseethe teambouncebackagainstSISBforahardfoughtwinandthenareallysolid performance(oneofthebestIhaveseenfromtheteam)againstTIS,in preparationforthetournamentwewouldhostatS107onSunday,31stof March. Thetournamentwasalwaysgoingtobeacrackingevent,withS107,REG, BCISandSISBinvolved,allincrediblyeventeams.Thefirstgamewasagainst REG and our boys were incredibly fired up for it. The team put on a magnificentdisplayandeventuallyranawayaswinners.Thenextgamewas againstSISB,anincrediblytightgamewithS107managingtoedgeaheadby fivepointsinthefinalmoments.ThisthensetupafinalagainstBCIS,which wasgoingtobeafantasticspectacle,giventhepreviousgameintheleague. Forthefinal,itswitchedtofourquarters,wheretheboysplayedreallywellfor the first three quarters, creating some fantastic offensive plays and deliveringsomeexcellentdefence.However,BCISralliedinthefinalquarter andstartedtobringitbackbutourboysdidjustenoughtobecrownedTISAC U19BoysBBCHAMPIONS!WelldonetoManatoasCaptainandArnavasViceCaptain, along with all of the other boys who represented the school! Amazingjob!

In Term 2 our U19 Girls participated in two matches prior to the TISAC tournament. Our first against TIS, was very physically challenging. The studentsshowedgritanddeterminationtotrytonotletthisgetthebetterof them.Followingonfromthis,wehostedafriendlyagainstREG.Theteamthat played in this match was a combination of students from U15 and U19. We made some pleasing progress and it has given us a great starting point for nextyear.
TheTISACTournamentthistermhosted9schoolswith3pools.Ourteamwas a combination of the U15 and U19 students. Despite having a newer team, students demonstrated great teamwork and skill in the first two games, helpingseal2ndplaceinourgroup.Theteamcontinuedworkingcohesively withmultiplestudentsmanagingtoscorebasketsthroughouttheday.Inthe secondhalfofthetournament,wefacedtoughopposition.Afterwatchingthe firstgame,wechangedourtacticsandpressedhardonfullcourtdefencefor theduration.Thissetusuptobeinthebestpossiblepositionbeforeourfinal game.WefacedTISagainandknewitwasgoingtobechallenging,butthis timewewerepreparedandknewourgameplan.Thegameremainedtight, with only one or two points between the teams. It came down to the final secondsasViceCaptain,Arshnoor,sankoneofherfreethrows,bringingthe score to 10-9. From the backline, TIS fired a ball down to the far end and caughtourdefenceoff-guard,sealingthevictoryinthefinalseconds,to12-9.
Our team finished 2nd overall with each player contributing to our success. Eachplayershouldbeextremelyproudoftheirperformancesthroughoutthe day.Lookingaheadtonextyear,Iamexcitedtobuilduponouralreadysolid foundationsforevengreatersuccess.
In Term 2, the U15 Boys competed in the GBAC Volleyball Tournament. This was their first competitive volleyball tournament this year and due to significantinterest,wewereabletoentertwoteams.Bothteamsdisplayed some excellent commitment and at times showcased some excellent volleyballskills.TheAteambeganwithaclosegame,showingsomegreat resiliencetowin.Thisboostedtheirconfidenceandsawthemwintheirnext gamemorecomfortably.Winningtheirgroup,theyplacedthemselvesinthe final which they unfortunately lost. However, it was a great experience for them to play against one of the best teams in Bangkok. The B team began theirdaybyplayingagainsttheeventualwinnersofthetournament,which meantaveryhardgame.However,theydidnotlettheirheadsgodownand continued to put in tremendous effort. As the day went on, the team continuedtoimprove,finishingwithaveryclosegame.

This newly formed team participated in their first fixture and GBAC tournament in Term 2. Despite being new to volleyball, the U15 Girls made immense progress and showed great commitment to the sport. In the opening game, against tough opponents, the girls persevered and demonstrated a great understanding when playing in a stressful and competitive environment. During their second game, the team demonstratedtheirskillsandfocusedonreceivingandcommunicating.

ThereweretwomaintournamentsinTerm2forourU19BoysVBTeam-the GBAC finals at S107 on Friday, 16th of February and the S107 Invitational on Friday29thofMarch.TheGBACFinalwasthefirsttimethatS107hadhosteda volleyballtournament.Itwasgoingtobeagreateveningofsportingaction with the girls playing alongside the boys. The tournament had a great atmosphereandinthefirstgame,ourboysplayedagainstTSIS,comingout aswinners.ThesecondgamewasagainstLFIB,whohaveoneofthebestU19 international school teams across Asia. Our boys lost the first set and then superblyralliedbackinthesecondtowinit,settingupthedeciderthirdset. After a valiant effort, our boys narrowly lost the set, which then meant we had a 2nd place decider match against SPIP in their final game. The game againstSPIPwasacrackeranditwentrightdowntothefinalpointofatie, with Georg putting in an amazing delicate lob back over the potential blockers, to win the game and S107 came in 2nd place in GBAC! Well done, team!
Following on from this fantastic tournament, we again hosted another U19 InvitationalhereatS107,withSPIPandTSISreturning,alongwithBCISjoining forthefirsttime.Onceagain,thereweresomehard-foughtbattlesacrossall games.However,withHalutaandManatoreturningtotheteamforoneofthe Year 13's final events at the school, and alongside the leadership of Arnav, ourboyswonallofthegamesandwerecrownedchampions!

Aftermuchtrainingandpreparation,theU19GirlsparticipatedintheGBAC Tournament.Thiswasonlytheirsecondcompetitivegameandachanceto rectify the previous result against TSIS. It was a very closely fought game, withS107comingoutstrongandwinningby2setsto1.Inthenextround,the gamewastiedcloselyagainwiththegirlsshowinggreatdeterminationand spiritagainstLFIB.Althoughtherewereimprovements,itwasn’tenoughto be victorious, losing in the end by a 2-points clear difference. In the final game against SPIP, the team had nothing to lose and fully embraced the opportunity to play one final game and enjoy themselves. They came 3rd overall,showinggreatpotentialandtheabilitytoworkcollaborativelyina competitiveenvironment.
FridayNightLightsInvitationalhadsimilarteamstotheGBACtournament, withonenewcompetitor,BCIS.ThefirstmatchagainstTSISwaschallenging, astheirteamhademployedanewtactic,wherebythesetterwouldattack the ball. This meant that reactions were constantly being tested, with TSIS triumphingintheend.
DuringthematchwithSPIP,studentsadaptedandtoughenedtheirdefence againsttheopposingserver.Bycombattingthisaspect,itmadethegamea closerbattle,comingdowntothelastpointinbothsets.Unfortunately,there were too many small mistakes which meant that there was additional pressure on each point. However, these moments are the ones that promotedfocus,communicationandcollaboration.
With determination and unwavering teamwork, players showcased their skillsandsportsmanship,earningawell-deservedthirdplace.Icouldn’tbe moreproudofalltheprogressmadeandamexcitedtofurtherdevelopand growfromthispointonward.
