As we come to the end of a busy Term 2, I want to take a moment to appreciate some of our achievements this term. In addition to the learning that has been taking place at S107, there have been several memorable events and achievements which it is important to reflect on and share with our community. In Term 2 we have:
• Had confirmation that the S107 school transcript is now recognised as equivalent to the Thai National Curriculum, M6 High School Diploma. This recognition opens doors for our IBCP students to apply to overseas universities in Canada and the USA which they couldn’t previously.
• Received a glowing Safeguarding report from an external auditor visit.
• Completed our virtual CIS virtual and joined as CIS members.
• Welcomed 42 new students!
• Entered 46 and hosted 28 tournaments, joined 51 League Matches, 17 Friendly Matches, 11 11 SWIM Events and 3 All-Star Games.
• Won Trophies and Places (11 x 1st Place finishes, 19 x 2nd Place finishes and 9 x3rd Place finishes).
• Raised 110,000THB for Animal Welfare – thank you to those 6 members of staff who received a pie to the face for this charity event.

S107 Community,
Attended numerous external trips to enhance learning opportunities, residentials for Years 3, 4 and 6 and Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
• Hosted events such as Science Week, Book Week, Lunar New Year, Creative Arts Exhibition, Student Spotlights, Pinewood Derby and of course … Songkran!
Today's Songkran celebrations marked a joyous conclusion to the term. The assemblies were filled with vibrant dances, traditional performances, and games, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Thailand. A special thank you to our Thai team for their dedication and hard work in organising today’s events. A huge thank you to parents who contributed food for today’s celebration!
Today marks the last day in school for our Year 11 and 13 students as they begin their study leave before exams begin next month. Our whole school community wish you the best of luck; stay focused and try your best!
We wish our whole school community a safe and happy Songkran! Whether you plan on staying in Thailand and celebrating or are traveling further afield, enjoy your time with family and friends. Sawatdee Pii Mai!
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and commitment to our school. I look forward to welcoming you all back for Term 3 and being at S107 full time!

Year 3 Young Entrepreneurs
Our Year 3's had the chance to become business owners this week! They worked hard to create their brands and logos. They made their products and then it was time to sell, sell, sell! They were focused on one of our core values 'Care' and how we can proactively support our community. The children tried to use local ingredients in their products and their profit will go towards a new toy for their class community, a new playground toy for the school community and to the wider Bangkok community with a donation to their chosen charity 'Paws'. All the Year 3 staff were incredibly proud of the children, and it was amazing to see their confidence shining through on the day of the sale. Well done Year 3! We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you.

Year 5-6 Production : The Anglo Saxons and The Vikings
This week, Year 5-6 students took parents on an unforgettable journey through the fascinating worlds of the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. Set against a musical backdrop, the event was both informative and entertaining, offering valuable insights into life during these historical periods!
Special commendation goes to the teachers who arranged the songs and layout for the performance. Their efforts, combined with the students' commitment to practice, resulted in a truly outstanding showcase of history and creativity.

Y10 Trip to the Bakery Amantee - French IGCSE Learners
The Year 10 IGCSE French class went to Amantee The Bakery for a French cultural experience. Students first visited the bakery with Mr. Rasheed the baker who explained the process of baking bread and “viennoiseries” from beginning to end.
They had time to ask questions in French, they had the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous French breakfast made of different types of bread and "viennoiseries" as a "degustation". Also, they were able to see every step of the process and, to participate to bake croissants. They also had the chance to bake themselves a specific product that they brought back home! Quelle chance!
Thanks to the AMANTEE Bakery for welcoming S107 and, Ms. Sanaa who nicely came with us.

Year 7 Pinewood Derby Car Race
St Andrews S107 recently held the second annual Pinewood Derby car races. It was a much anticipated event amongst the Year 7 students as it was an opportunity to race their cars against other schools.
The students had spent 10 weeks designing and making their Pinewood Derby race cars, to compete in either the Grand Prix class or the Outlaw class. Prizes were given to the winning cars/students in both classes, as well as a prize for the best designed car.
On the morning of the event all the students had a level of excitement and anticipation unmatched in other school competitions! The day started with the cars being scrutineered to make sure that they met the requirements for each class. The students were completing a design challenge during the scrutineering before the racing began.
Year 7 Pinewood Derby Car Race (cont.)
The racing began and all the students were front and centre in the auditorium, waiting to see who would win the first race!
There were over 70 cars competing and over 70 heats for the Grand prix class, with the racing continuing for an hour and a half. The top 8 cars/students were taken through to the grand final racing. The top time went to a student from St Andrews Green Valley, taking out the prestigious prize for the Grand Prix class.
The Outlaw racing had fewer cars, with just over 20 cars/students competing. A car/student from St Andrews International school 71 won the Outlaw class. The times for the Outlaw class were fast, but they were not able to match the times of the Grand Prix class, with the winning time being less than 1.5 seconds to race along a 6 metre track.
As the competition has come to the end, the students all had a great time and there were plenty of smiles! The support that they showed each other during the racing was commendable and I look forward to hosting the event again next year! Well done to all the year 7 students!

Sustainable Tourism in Action!
Y11 Business students had an online guest speaker this week, discussing the threats of tourism and development to the pristine beaches of Southern Sri Lanka. Zander Combe, established the Mawella Foundation, to involve the community to protect the beach where he opened a hotel 5 years ago. Zander spoke to the students about the various projects he has established to support the community such as a laundry business and beach clean ups. The hotel, Halcyon Mawella, is a small boutique hotel which prides itself on sustainable tourism and great service and design. Students were able to ask questions about running a hotel and the debate for any business owner, between ethics and profit.

Tracey, the manager of Home of Grace, provided St Andrews Year 11 BTEC Business students an exciting opportunity to learn more about the challenges of Social Enterprise this week. Our Year 11 BTEC students have been busy studying the nature of Social Enterprises, businesses that are set up for profit, but have core objectives to help society or the environment.
The Home of Grace Community store is one such enterprise. It provides support to a shelter for young pregnant mothers and girls facing extremely challenging personal situations at home. Students learned about the history of the foundation from the time of Finnish missionaries and were also able to learn about the transition of marketing strategies that the Home of Grace store has needed to use as it has attempted to maximise its funds for the organisation.
During this time, our students took the opportunity to present their work on their own Social Enterprise project to Tracey, explaining the financial values of their breakeven, the market research they have carried out to the justification for their target market strategy.

An Introduction to S107 Career-Related Partners
In a significant step towards broadening our students' educational scope, S107 hosted an informative event for Year 10 and 11 students and their parents. This was designed to showcase the possibilities offered through the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP), with insights from our esteemed career-related program partners:
St Andrews International School, S107, Bangna – BTEC Business King Mongkut University Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand – Specializing in Architecture and Design
Dusit Thani College, Thailand – Focused on Hospitality Sustainable Management School (SUMAS), Switzerland –Dedicated to Sustainable Business
Savannah College of Art and Design, USA – Expertise in Art and Design
Embry Riddle University – Aeronautics and Engineering
Overview of the IB Career-Related Programme
The IBCP is an innovative, future-focused education, an alternative to the traditional IB Diploma Programme, tailored for students entering Years 12 and 13. This program uniquely blends rigorous academic studies with practical, career-related learning, offering a holistic approach to education that prepares students for university and the professional world.
Program Structure
The IBCP comprises three main components:
Academic: Students take three Diploma subjects, ensuring a solid academic base.
Career-Related Studies: Complementing their academic subjects, students participate in university-level coursework through our career-related partners.
An Introduction to S107 Career-Related Partners (cont.)
The Core: This essential segment includes Personal and Professional Skills, a Reflective Project (a 4,000-word essay), Service Learning, and Language Development, all designed to enhance personal & professional growth and global awareness.
Dispelling Myths and Setting Standards
While the IB Diploma Programme enjoys widespread recognition, the IBCP, being relatively new, has faced misconceptions about its rigour and value. It’s important to clarify that the IBCP demands equally high standards and commitment. It offers students university-level work during their high school years. The IBCP is carefully tailored to match the interests and needs of our students, ensuring a personalised educational pathway.
A Head Start on Future Success
Thanks to our collaboration with various career-related partners, our S107 IBCP students engage in a curriculum that mirrors the first year of university studies. With this early exposure to university-level work while in high school, students are equipped with advanced skills typically acquired after enrolling at a university or a workplace, providing a significant advantage in real-world applications.
Event Impact and Parental Insight
The event at S107 was a success, offering students and parents a comprehensive programme overview. University representatives provided first-hand insights into each program, aiding Year 10 & 11 students in making well-informed choices regarding their studies. This experience led to notable shifts in interest among students, highlighting the program ' s potential to redefine career aspirations.
An Introduction to S107 Career-Related Partners (cont.)
Significantly, our current CP students attribute their personal development to the experiential learning provided through the CP program. Witnessing a remarkable increase in confidence and selfassurance, a family wholeheartedly advocates for their second child to choose the IBCP program instead of the conventional IB diploma path. This serves as a powerful endorsement of the IBCP program ' s effectiveness.
We remain committed to providing our students the tools they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

DOE Award Trip
This year, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award is the highest in S107 history! Over the three different levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold, over 50 students from Y10-12 took part in three different adventurous journeys ranging from 4 to 7 days. These included kayaking in Koh Chang and Stand Up Paddleboarding, Hiking and Cycling in Kanchanaburi. All of the students successfully completed their adventurous journeys and in doing so demonstrated remarkable determination, endurance, resilience and teamwork. It is no mean feat! Well done to all of the students who took part.
Now, the students must complete between 3 and 12 months of community service hours, as well as commit to learning a new skill and achieving a physical goal in order to complete the full award. This work is underway and the students will need to log their hours, evidence it and have their efforts signed off by a supervisor.
The Duke of Edinburgh International Award is recognised globally and is extremely highly regarded by universities when they consider applications from students. We are extremely proud of the achievements thus far and look forward to celebrating the completion of the award at the beginning of next academic year.

The pre-summit is a dynamic platform for S107 students to engage in meaningful dialogue with eminent leaders on issues such as gender disparity, education, and the economy. It aims to explore actionable solutions by considering today’s generation.
This event is inclusive, welcoming all genders, particularly those interested in Business, Gender Studies, International Relations and Policy Making.
Student involvement in the AWLF International Pre-Summit is more than just a participatory experience; it is a stepping stone towards becoming influencers in policies that resonate with their generation. S107 Achievement
Our student Win from Year 8 recently received the Best Performance award (1st Prize) among 21 contestants from Thailand, China, and Japan from the 4th Piano TMFYA (Thailand Music Festival for Young Artist) for Piano U15 categories.
Great job Win! We are so proud of you!
Animal Welfare Week
Our S107 Animal Welfare team has been supporting several animal welfare organisations (The Adoptable Puppy Café, PickAPet4home, Furgot Me Not, Paws Bangkok) which are working to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens. The population of soi dogs and cats in Thailand has been increasing, posing a significant issue.
During Animal Welfare Week 2024, we were able to raise 110,361 Baht through the sale of Japanese foods, animal toys, and a "Pie in the Face" event. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire school community and especially to the Japanese community for their support.
Thank you very much for your donations and contributions!
