These two-hour programs are designed specifically for toddlers ages 2 to 3 years old and their chaperones, with fun, nature-based activities, stories, songs and games. All camps will provide necessary materials. Summer camp bandanas available for purchase. No meals are provided in these camps.

Ever wondered who discovers new animals or decides what’s extinct or endangered? Wildlife ecologists do! Spend a day in nature in the shoes of a wildlife researcher learning to track and survey wildlife, learning to identify a variety of animals based on tracks and signs, and meeting interesting animals as well as playing fun wildlife games and creating cool animal crafts.

WEEK-LONG CAMPS

These camps are perfect for the avid adventurer. Weeklong camps culminate in either a late-night dinner or an overnight camping experience.  All camps will provide necessary materials. Meals are not provided Monday through Thursday. Please pack your own lunches. For the late-night experience, dinner is provided. For the overnight experiences, dinner and breakfast are provided.

By the end, you may just find out that they’re not so scary at all. Because of the observance of Juneteenth, this week-long camp is only four days, from Tuesday to Friday. Camp on Friday will be a late night dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. and going home at 10 p.m.

Join local artist and former Ogden Nature Center naturalist Susan Snyder in this watercolor workshop series! The beautiful grounds of Ogden Nature Center will be your inspiration as you learn the basics of watercolor, nature journaling, observation and more. This class is perfect for beginners and art hobbyists looking to learn how to slow down and notice the beauty of the natural world all around them. All materials to take this class are provided.

SENIORS NIGHT

Nature enthusiasts aged 55 and older are invited to an overnight retreat at the Ogden Nature Center’s Picnic Grove. Enjoy a cozy campfire dinner, s’mores and storytelling under the stars, followed by a peaceful night of camping. The adventure continues in the morning with an early morning stroll along the trails to spot birds, discover new plants and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.

Serve, learn and have fun with a unique program designed to get teens out of the house this summer. Participate in citizen science, habitat restoration, Nature Center projects and more, all while making friends and giving back to the community. Volunteens work onand off-site with Nature Center staff in a fun, friendly, supervised learning environment.

SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANTS

For ages 12 and older

The Ogden Nature Center is looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to assist with our upcoming summer camp season. Camp assistants will work with our education team to set up camp, help with activities and engage with campers of all ages. If you enjoy working with children and being outdoors or are looking for opportunities to serve your community, join us this summer at the Ogden Nature Center.

Camp assistants must be at least 12 years old to assist with the Fledglings (ages 4 to 6) camp or Toddler Tracks (ages 2 to 3). Extreme Eco Expedition assistants must be at least 16 years old. All other camp assistants must be at least 14 years old.

You’ll get on-the-job training, which is great on college and job applications, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on May 3, 2025. Interviews will be held May 5 through 9. Selected Camp Assistants will be notified by May 12. A mandatory training will be held for all selected Camp Assistants on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ogden Nature Center.

WEBER STATE SCIENCE IN THE PARKS PROGRAM

Science in the Parks is coming to a park near you again this year! Come spend a week full of hand-on activities that are geared around fun, discovery and science. We are partnering with the Arts in the Parks program as well as the Ogden School District free summer lunch program to help entertain and excited children of all ages this summer. All are welcome, and all activities are free. Plan to eat lunch and then spend as much time as you’d like at any and all of our stations.

Science in the Parks activities are hosted from noon to 1 p.m. each of the following days:

CERAMIC I (BEGINNERS, AFTERNOON)

Intro to ceramics and how to build art with clay. Hands-on camp!

Attention: Campers will need to pick up an extra hour the following week to paint/glaze their pottery (we will prefer Tuesday, June 11, from 3 to 4 p.m.) if they are not taking Ceramic II. If this schedule doesn’t work, please talk to the teacher to schedule a different day.

Attention: Ceramics items will not be ready by the end of the camp as it takes a process to get everything ready for the final product. The teacher will give the students a specific day for the pickup of the pottery.

MOUNTAIN BIKING CAMP: BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (MORNING)

This camp focuses on bike handling, body positioning, shifting, braking and trail riding skills. Youth mountain bike attendees will gain confidence in all conditions of riding, improve physical conditioning and develop proper edict and trail manners while enjoying local trails.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Mountain bike, helmet (required), gloves, eye protection and water bottle.

GEAR REQUIREMENTS: Campers must have a mountain bike suitable for riding in off-road conditions. We will be riding off-road over dirt, rocks and uneven terrain. Campers must wear a properly fitting bicycle helmet and have either a water bottle (that fits in a bike-mounted water bottle holder) or a hydration pack to bring to camp each day. Daily snacks & water will be provided. In order to facilitate an excellent experience for all campers, each rider’s equipment, including bicycles, will be reviewed by camp staff prior to the first day. Limited loaner equipment is available if the campers are found to have inadequate equipment. All bikes should have 24”, 26”, 27.5” or 29” rims with multiple gears and minimally include front suspension.

Limited to 15 campers – Utah High School Cycling League (NICA) riders are considered Advanced (including Junior Devo riders) for the purposes of this summer camp.

GOLF CAMP (MORNING)

Explore the fundamentals of cooking and essential chef skills at this summer camp, where each day brings practical lessons and delectable dishes, both savory and sweet. Students will learn knife skills, reading and understanding recipes, measuring, keeping a clean kitchen and more. Creativity is encouraged, and we emphasize a fun approach to the kitchen and cooking! Throughout the week, they will experiment with different ingredients, learning about various leaveners and crafting flavorful dishes guided by their palates.

LEVEL UP! Design It, Build It, Code It June 9-13, 2025

Interested in making things work, or computer technology elds like programming or digital design? This camp is for you! Throughout the week you’ll make your own arcade game console: design the outside artwork to attract players, build the controls to make it run, and program your own game to bring the console to life. At the end of the week, you’ll present your arcade game console to OTECH students to compete for the best of camp.

CAD and Design Camp July 7-9, 2025

Using CAD techniques and computer software, you’ll create your own derby car! Use computer software to design your car, print it with our 3D printers, and then race it at the end of camp to compete for the fastest car.

Wreckless Drifters Camp July 7-9, 2025

The camp is for beginning, intermediate and advanced footballers. This camp is a great warm-up for the fall seasons — Flag Football, 7v7, Jr. High, Ute Conference and WFFL Football Leagues — or those just wanting to start learning the game. Saint Joseph High School Head Coach Deshon Butler, his coaching staff and guest camp clinicians will work hands-on with the camp attendees to improve their individual skills and techniques. Campers will learn from the best coaches in Utah in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Each camper will leave camp having refined their skills and enhanced their knowledge of all the different football positions, techniques and football schemes. Saint Joe’s Football Camps will provide all the resources you need to take your game to the next level.  (Cleats, gym shoes, workout clothes and your own water bottle are needed for the camp.). Also, drone cinematography will be offered, and participants will have the chance to fly drones for amazing videos of the city of Ogden and the Wasatch Mountains.

This summer, some of our classes will be: Marbling Bandannas, Build an Animal Habitat, Paint Watercolor Aspens and more! The semester will end with an art show where your students are the featured artists.

TEEN SUMMER WRITING CONTEST

Submit a sample piece of writing in any of the following categories: Original Fiction, Poetry or Nonfiction. Entries will be judged in two separate age groups: 12 to14 and 15 to 18.
