Why do people all over the world tell stories about dragons? And how could something as big as Bigfoot stay hidden when cameras exist? Join us as we talk about how myths come to be and how some have roots in nature.
JULY 25: READY, SET, GROW!
Ages 7-9
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to do some gardening as we explore how plants grow. Harvest flowers and vegetables to discover where seeds come from, get your hands dirty as we investigate what lives underground in the soil, and learn about native plants that are found around the nature center. Join us in our Discovery Garden as we plant seeds, make crafts and grow our gardening skills.

Time for an adventure in the great outdoors! Campers will go on a pretend mini “camping trip” as we explore the trails, play games, sing campfire songs and make tasty treats.

Do you like cats or dogs? At the Ogden Nature Center, we like both! Come learn with us about the kittens and puppies in nature as we explore the wilder cousins of our furry pets.
JULY 19 & AUGUST 2: SPLISH, SPLASH, SPLAT
Prepare to get wet as we learn what floats, sinks and swims in water at the nature center. We’ll dip for bugs in the pond, find out what water does to a sand castle, and hear stories about the creatures that call water their home.
JULY 26: NATURE’S MUSIC
There’s music to be heard as we listen to the choir of whoops, whistles and calls in nature. Create your own rhythms as we join along with nature’s melodies and explore the sounds of the world around us.

Learn how nature and story combine in this magical camp that explores classic fairy tales and their animal counterparts. Sign up for the whole week or choose individual days.

From forests to fields, the Ogden Nature Center is teeming with life. Spend some time this summer exploring all 152 acres. Observe pond life under microscopes, catch insects in the field and travel off the beaten path in search of secret spots. Learn about native plants and animals that call the nature center home. Meet some furry, feathery and funny-looking friends up close as you investigate the wild side of the Ogden Nature Center. Monday through Wednesday are regular camp days. The overnight portion starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 9 a.m. on Friday. No regularly scheduled camp on Thursday or Friday.
Ages 9-11
Investigate the wild side of nature! Solve clues, decipher codes and interpret maps as you spend the week exploring the mysterious world of animals. Nature crafts, animal games, hands-on investigation activities and an overnight campout make this an adventure you won’t want to miss. Monday through Wednesday are regular camp days. The overnight portion starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 9 a.m. on Friday. No regularly scheduled camp on Thursday or Friday.

Bring your favorite person to snuggle with under the stars. The campfire program is for adults 21+. A fun evening complete with pudgy pie dinners, s’mores, an evening nature walk and to top it off, stargazing.

Join us on an adventure for the whole family. Pack your tent and enjoy a night under the stars at Ogden Nature Center’s Dumke Picnic Grove. Play games, make crafts and learn about the creatures that run the night here at the nature center. Hot dog dinner and a cold breakfast will be provided.

Get creative in nature with this day of exploring, sculpting, painting, and drawing. Campers ages 21 and older will work with local artists sculpting with clay, painting with acrylics, and using colored pencil, pencil and pen to explore the natural world around them. Bring a water bottle and be ready to walk a little and create a lot.

Serve, learn and have fun with a unique program designed to get teens out of the house this summer. Participate in citizen science, habitat restoration, nature center projects and more, all while making friends and giving back to the community. Volunteens work on- and off-site with nature center staff in a fun, friendly, supervised learning environment.

For groups that already know each other well, COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) builds on this knowledge to improve communication and leadership skills. COPE is a great mechanism for rapidly developing a strong sense of team membership. Beyond all these lofty objectives, COPE is fun! Course features ground and high ropes activities.

Bring your kids for a fun and educational six-week summer semester. This semester-long camp/class will inspire and motivate your student(s) to be creative in new ways as they explore art through a variety of media. Students will learn how to use new tools and create projects that are unique, fun and engaging.
In class, we focus on the process of learning a new skill and encouraging students to discover their own unique way to create. Our class motto is “You Are the Artist.” We use this phrase to remind students that they make the creative decisions.

Join us for a great two-day camp for teenagers where they will be making their own jewelry. Students will make a copper dog tag/pendant, a copper ring and a leather bracelet with a copper coin designed by the student. Students will be able to stamp words, dates or symbols on their jewelry. For students who have taken his class before, different projects will be provided for them.
At the end of the second day, parents will be invited to come and see all the jewelry that the student has made. Class size is limited to 6 students.
This class will be taught by Rene Venegas, a 16th generation silversmith. His family was one of the first to arrive in the Americas from Spain. His ancestor, Felipe Venegas, was the silversmith for the early cathedrals in the Dominican Republic and stamped the first European coins in the New World. Join us for this fabulous Spanish Immersion Camp. It’s perfect for the student who has been in the Spanish dual immersion program and is looking for a refresher class before school begins.

Our preschool camp is tailored for children aged 3 through 4 and embraces the spirit of summer by infusing heaps of fun while sneaking in educational elements. Every week, our camp attends a fun field trip or gets a visit from a special guest and introduces engaging, theme-based activities suitable for the developmental stage of preschoolers, all within a secure environment. The CIT program is perfect for older kids who are interested in becoming camp counselors someday (those who do best are offered jobs once they turn 16). CITs spend time with group counselors learning group management skills, guidance and discipline, and trauma-informed care.

STEM Specialty Camp can be added to your child’s day at Traditional Day Camp for a hands-on STEM experience. STEM camps often involve interactive and hands-on activities that allow kids to explore scientific concepts through experiments and projects. This practical approach enhances their understanding and retention of STEM subjects.
STEM camps contribute to a well-rounded education by fostering skills that are valuable not only in STEM fields but also in various aspects of life. They provide a foundation for future academic and professional success! Campers will attend two hours per day of STEM Camp that is led by a professional STEM educator. Campers might design water filters, clean an oil spill, see animal noises and participate in more daily immersive activities!

Explore the fundamentals of cooking and essential chef skills at this summer camp, where each day brings practical lessons and delectable dishes, both savory and sweet. Students will learn knife skills, reading and understanding recipes, measuring, keeping a clean kitchen and more. Creativity is encouraged, and we emphasize a fun approach to the kitchen and cooking! Throughout the week, they will experiment with different ingredients, learning about various leaveners and crafting flavorful dishes guided by their palates.

The camp is for beginner, intermediate and advanced footballers. This camp is a great warm-up for the fall seasons: flag football, 7v7, junior high, Ute Conference, and WFFL Football Leagues, or those just wanting to start learning the game. Saint Joseph High School Head Coach Deshon Bluter, his coaching staff and guest camp clinicians will work hands-on with the camp attendees to improve their individual skills and techniques. Campers will learn from the best coaches in Utah in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Each camper will leave camp having refined their skills and enhanced their knowledge of all the different football positions, techniques and football schemes. Saint Joe’s Football Camps will provide all the resources you need to take your game to the next level. (Cleats, gym shoes, workout clothes and your own water bottle are needed for the camp.). The camper will learn how to use I-Movie and operate video cameras, microphones, tripods, lights and other equipment as well as read from a teleprompter and direct a live newscast. The students will produce a small movie and a newscast by the end of the camp. Also, drone cinematography will be offered, and participants will have the chance to fly drones for amazing videos of the city of Ogden and the Wasatch Mountains.

Dive into the world of art history with our Painting Masterpieces Camp, which is designed for budding artists ages 6 to 13. In this camp, students will not only create their own beautiful paintings but also explore the techniques and styles of the greatest painters from the past 500 years.

Science in the Parks is coming to a park near you again this year! Come spend a week full of hand-on activities that are geared around fun, discovery and science. We are partnering with the Arts in the Parks program as well as the Ogden School District free summer lunch program to help entertain and excited children of all ages this summer. All are welcome, and all activities are free. Plan to eat lunch and then spend as much time as you’d like at any and all of our stations
Science in the Parks activities are hosted from noon to 1 p.m. each of the following days.

Hill Aerospace Museum’s STEAM Summer Passport Program runs June 27th through August 3rd this year! Join us at the museum Thursdays and Fridays each week for science and history lessons with fun experiments, demonstrations, or hands-on activities! After students have participated in all four classes, they may report to museum staff to receive a special pin and graduation certificate. Registration is not required.

Discover the stories of aircraft throughout the years of Hill Air Force Base’s history. Each week we will explore a different aircraft and get an up-close, guided view of each plane!
Learn about the forces of flight and determine the effect of balanced and unbalanced forces. Each student will create a flying model to test out.

Investigate the air masses that cause changes in weather patterns and how our missions adapt based on the weather! Programming includes information on air pressure, cloud formations, and varying weather phenomena.
Come learn about the history and design of rockets and missiles at Hill Air Force Base, then build your own to test and launch in front of the museum!
