Always Aloysius, Summer 2018

Principal’s Welcome Welcome to the Summer edition of Always Aloysius. It only seems like yesterday that we completed work on the previous edition of Always Aloysius and now we are at the end of another academic year. They say as we get older time flies faster, but I also think that by their very nature schools enhance that feeling - we count the year down in semesters and in terms, trying to pack in an ever increasing amount of experiences and moments to the one constant that is time. I, for one, though would not have it any other way, for time is far too a precious commodity to waste and the six years of secondary schooling (as I am sure you will all attest to) flies by in a moment, leaving us with cherished memories and a Well of stories, friends and learnings to which as adults we can return to time and time

again for inspiration, for solace, for grounding and for reflection. In a true sense, this is what Always Aloysius really means, and although we perhaps do not think about it on a daily basis our experiences and time spent in the hallways and classrooms of St Aloysius College have shaped who we are, how we think, how we perceive the world. We are Always Aloysius. This edition highlights the events and the achievements of a second semester guided and inspired by the 2018 College theme ‘So reach out and welcome one another in God’s glory’. In a whole myriad of ways the College continues to reach out in the name of Mercy to new families and new friends, building new local and global connections, reaching out to build new learning spaces and to design new curriculum, reaching out to

explire and understand God’s Words in a contemporary world. These continue to be exciting days and times at St Aloysius College and I draw your attention to the continued re-juvenation of the College Campus with the opening of the Materials Technology and Performing Arts Centre. Finally, I would like to thank and recognise the outstanding contribution of Rosemary Moylan who will retire this year after nearly 30 years at St Aloysius College. Many of you will remember Rosemary in the Resource Centre and Rosemary has certainly left a firm legacy of improvement and development and she will be missed by all. On behalf of tge College we wish Rosemary well in her retirement. In the footsteps of Catherine McCauley, Mary Farah Principal
