Why living on campus matters
St. Norbert is a residential college: Students live on campus all four years.
There’s a lot to like about living on campus. First and foremost, it builds a sense of community and school spirit. Students live together, learn together, play together. They forge friendships, build trust and acquire an appreciation for shared experiences.
Living together keeps people connected. And that has some benefits that may not be readily apparent: We have one of the best four-year graduation rates in the Midwest and one of the best retention rates, too – and we’re pretty sure living in a supportive, cohesive community contributes to that.
St. Norbert will be your home for four years. And we mean “home” in the very best sense: a place where you’ll feel comfortable, valued and surrounded by people who simply enjoy your company.
You’ll be well-supported
All first- and second-year residences have a livein area coordinator, with a resident assistant on every floor, should you need assistance regarding campus resources, housing questions, security concerns or any other residential-related topics.
Third- and fourth-year residences have a community assistant who supports these housing areas. Residential education and housing staff help with any residential topics.

Options abound
St. Norbert College has all kinds of housing. Very generally speaking, you’ll experience increasingly independent living as you advance from year one to year four. Here’s a quick overview of our first-year housing options.
Gertrude S. Bergstrom Hall
(co-ed/honors) is located beside the Fox River on the north side of campus. Housing 80 students, the hall is home to first-year students who are enrolled in the St. Norbert College Honors Program.
Madelaine/Lorraine Hall (Mad/Lor) (male/female) houses 191 students. The buildings are joined by a common first-floor lobby and a shared basement with a recreation room, study lounges and laundry facilities.
Frank J. Sensenbrenner Hall (co-ed) houses 181 students. It offers a traditional-style living arrangement, including double rooms and a community bathroom.
Mary Minahan McCormick Hall (MMM) (co-ed) offers five floors of suite-style housing. Four students share a suite made up of two rooms connected by a private bathroom. MMM contains one large study lounge, located on the first floor of the hall. (MMM also houses sophomores and juniors.)
First-year students can also join our Wellness floor, a community dedicated to healthy living in all respects.

After your first year, you’ll have even more choices in housing: double and single rooms; 4-person suites; apartments; townhouses; detached houses; halls with kitchen facilities; theme houses. Since we have lots of smaller facilities rather than a few giant ones, you’ll find plenty of options that let you live the way you want, with the roommates you want.

Eating well matters, too!
We’re on a quest to break the stereotype of sketchy college food.
Life at St. Norbert is – in a word –delicious. In fact, according to student surveys, we’re ranked fourth in the entire country for the quality of our dining program!
We offer endless variety, including plenty of healthy-eating options and an allergen-free food station. (Of course, some days you’re just all about the pizza – and our dining hall has a
station dedicated to that, too.) Our food is so good, some of it even has its own fan club: People are known to circle the days when we’re serving turkey shawarma.
There’s also a coffee shop on campus where you can grab a hot cup and a quick bite, and a sandwich shop/ market in the riverside campus center.
Bottom line: Mealtime is something to look forward to at SNC. Check
