class notes Class of 1997 Mary Sessions graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in private school leadership. She and her husband, Antonio, plan to move back to Atlanta.

Haley Gordon is a 3rdgrade assistant teacher at St. Martin’s Episcopal School. In the fall, she will begin her graduate counseling degree at Mercer University. Haley’s goals are to become a middle school counselor and to specialize in family counseling.

Class of 2006 Mary Sessions

Class of 2003 Rachel Roop is engaged to Dr. Nathan Harpe, and they plan to marry in March of 2020 in Atlanta. She owns Roop Residential (Keller Williams Realty) and recently hit the mark of selling 100 homes. She serves on her office’s Agent Leadership Council.

Haley Barnes married Matt Gibson on June 15, 2019, in Atlanta. Many of her SMES classmates were involved in the wedding. Jackie Florence (‘06) was a bridesmaid, Kristi Oltman (‘06) read scripture, and Lucy Griner (‘06) and Eleanor Woodward (‘06) were greeters. Haley’s sisters, Erin Barnes (‘12) and Caroline Barnes (‘12), were also bridesmaids.

Class of 2007 Rachel Roop

Class of 2005 Sami Malik is a freelance graphic designer and manages a nonprofit called Blue Skies Riding Academy, which is the only equine riding program in the Southeast to support a rescue and retraining program for horses. Sami also serves on the Georgia Hunter Jumper Association Board of Directors as the resident graphic designer and webmaster.

Brigid Mary McDonnell graduated from Georgetown University’s public relations and corporate communications master’s program. She also recently celebrated her three-year anniversary working for Fox News in Washington, D.C., where she is the booking producer for Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream.

Class of 2009 Daniel Kamman currently works for United Rentals, Inc., as the territory

manager for the Kitsap Peninsula and Puget Sound regions of Washington. He graduated from Auburn University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.

Class of 2010 Olivia Haas is living in Brooklyn, N.Y., and working as a paralegal for Central American Legal Assistance. CALA helps Olivia Haas (r) and SMES’ individuals navigate the José Cruz immigration process. José Cruz, a TMS employee at SMES, was a client of the organization when he immigrated to the U.S. almost 30 years ago. Olivia met up with José on her most recent visit to the SMES campus.

Class of 2011 Lili Byce graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She plans to take a gap year before applying to law school, and currently works as a desk clerk for a hotel in downtown Athens.
