MOTHER’S DAY PRAYER On this day when we acknowledge the importance of motherhood among us, we first give thanks that you, God, are a loving parent to us all. You have united us as kindred members of one human family, and we are grateful to be your offspring together. We give you thanks for the mothers among us and ask that you strengthen them in their daily tasks. Grant them wisdom in the lessons they teach, patience in the discipline they foster, and persistence in their promotion of compassion, both by word and example. May they be given the honor and thanks they deserve but often do not receive. We give you thanks for the wide spectrum of motherhood represented among us today. Theirs is a cumulative reminder that though our lives are marked by transition and change, your love and affection for all your children remain the same. Emery’s life was cut short at the age of 26 when in March 2018 he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. In this 30-minute class, you’ll gain an orientation to St. Luke’s and leave with recommended next steps to help you find your place within the church. It’s also a great way to meet others who are new and find community! Join us on Wednesday, May 12 online (register here and we will send you a Zoom link). EXPLORING MEMBERSHIP WEDNESDAY, MAY 19 • 7PM • ONLINE The Exploring Membership Class will help you learn more about the United Methodist Church and the process for formally joining St. Luke’s. Here you’ll learn more about who we are, our beliefs, and our mission to be an affirming community of Christians helping people find and give hope through Jesus Christ - regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, or
socioeconomic background. You’ll also get to hear the story of our church and discuss what it means to be a member of this local congregation through serving, growing in your faith journey, moving toward generosity, and more. Participants will have the opportunity to join the church at the end of the class if they choose. This class meets online via Zoom. A link and passcode will be sent to you upon registration. POCKET RETREAT St. Luke’s United Methodist Creation Care Ministry would like for you to take time to be with God. As we experience God’s wonders in nature, we should stop, reflect, and appreciate creation. Visit our website at stlukesumc. com/wilderness to find the Pocket Retreat activities and scriptures. Along your journey, stop about every five minutes and read, reflect, and do the activity. There are 20 activities so this should take less than two hours to complete. If you need to have a shorter time in nature, that is fine, do as many cards as you can, and then the next time you are able to get back to nature begin where you left off. MIDDLE SCHOOL MAYHEM MONDAY-FRIDAY • JUNE 21-25 Students entering 5th-8th graders this fall are invited to our FAVORITE event of the year: Middle School Mayhem! The theme is “Olympics: Mayhem.” This fun and exciting Day Camp consists of worship, group competitions, snacks, service projects, and time for a message and reflection in “crews” of 10 students and leaders. There are morning and full-day options for $30 or $100 for the entire week. It’s $30 for morning or $100 for full day. Scholarships are available.
