EAST ART GALLERY - MEET THE ARTIST

JUNE 4 • NORTH INDY

My Pour Heart, owned and operated by Alan and Leslie Hazelwood (St. Luke’s UMC Facilities Coordinator), will be on exhibit showing their acrylic pour painting creations. Their one of a kind artworks are done on canvas, pottery, picture frames, salt & pepper shakers, and more. Leslie and Alan will be in the East Gallery on June 4th for the artist meet and greet.

DEMENTIA CARE GIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

JUNE 6 AT 6PM - NORTH INDY - SPIRITUAL LIFE CENTER

This support group is dedicated to providing assistance for those caring for individuals affected by memory loss, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Both church members and members of the local community are invited to join us, as we come together to seek compassionate support, exchange valuable resources, and offer encouragement throughout our shared journey. Whether you care for your loved ones in the comfort of your own home, in a care facility, or from afar, we invite you to join us. stlukesumc.com/events

Whether they’re preschool or elementary-aged, kids will move to follow Jesus Here, There, and Everywhere with this engaging, hands-on Vacation Bible School program. STARTING POINT

Starting Point is a 30-minute orientation to St. Luke’s. You’ll meet others who are new and leave with a next step to help you find your place within the

church. This is a great way to become familiar with who we are and how we live out our faith. No registration is needed.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MAYHEM

JUNE 26-JUNE 30 • NORTH INDY CAMPUS

This week-long day camp gives middle schoolers (5th-8th grade) a chance to form new friendships, serve alongside their peers, learn more about faith in worship times designed specifically for them, and play all kinds of insane games. This year’s theme is Medieval Mayhem! We will talk about what it means to us that Jesus is “king,” debunking the bad narratives we’ve heard of kings and learning about the selflessness of the kingdom Jesus talks about. EXPLORING MEMBERSHIP CLASS

The Exploring Membership Class will help you learn more about the United Methodist Church and the process for formally joining St. Luke’s. Here you’ll learn more about who we are, our beliefs, and our mission. You’ll also get to hear the story of our church and discuss what it means to be a member of this local congregation through serving, growing in your faith journey, moving toward generosity, and more. DEMENTIA FRIENDS WORKSHOP

JUNE 17 AT 10AM - ZOOM

The Dementia Friends Workshop builds awareness of and breaks down stigmas surrounding various forms of dementia and implements practical changes that make life easier to navigate for those with dementia and their loved ones. People with dementia need to be understood and supported in their communities. You can help by becoming a Dementia Friend. This event is limited to 12 participants. Join St. Luke’s Interfaith Relationships Ministry and the Fishers Multi-faith Community for Compassion in the exploration of the Orthodox Christian Church. Join us for a panel discussion with LGBTQIA+ Christians. Hear their stories, struggles, and joys of being part of this messy thing we call the Church. FREEDOM SCHOOL

Freedom Schools are summer programs designed to increase literacy, self-esteem, socio-emotional skills, and a love of learning for children in elementary school. We disrupt the summer learning slide by keeping scholars engaged and stimulated. St. Luke’s is hosting its second Freedom School help children of Washington Twp. MARTINDALE WALK AND TALK

JUNE 26 AT 6PM

Tour begins and ends at PROVIDER Coffee & Long Drinks 1101 East 16th Street Indianapolis, IN 46202. Come walk with us! A one hour walking tour to hear stories about the history of Martindale-Brightwood. Martindale was originally a blue collar community populated by a significant portion of the city’s African American population, who inhabited the area as a result of forced segregation in the 1800s. Doing some spring cleaning? If you come across some gently used, but still in good condition, mobility aids, e.g., clean, gently used standard walkers, rolling walkers, rollators, single tip walking canes, quad canes, crutches, shower chairs/benches, please donate them to the new St. Luke’s “Lending Closet.” Mobility items can be borrowed to use while healing from a medical condition, and then returned after one’s healing is complete. To the family of Artemas Boyd II who died on May 11. “Arty” is the son of Tujuianna Lockhart, valued staff member at St. Luke’s.

To the family of Judy Erner, St. Luke’s member who died on May 23, 2023. She has two daughters - Jennifer Erner and Jessica Maners (who is a current member of St. Luke’s.

To the family of Carol Culbertson, a member of our church community whose mother recently died.
