EXTENDED DAY A variety of fantastic and innovative options await your child this year. Kach et yadi (Take My Hand) is a program designed to help students discover their role in the community and develop leadership skills. Last year, fifth-graders served as mentors in training twice a week at Gan Shelanu under the supervision of faculty members. This year we are expanding the program for children in grades 2 through 6 to include a variety of opportunities to mentor younger children and plan and lead activities. Healthy eating is the focus of Awesome Eats (grades K-6). Children will learn about nutrition and cook and bake with healthy ingredients. Sign up for hands-on STEAM classes that promote inventive thinking and creative problem solving. Little Coders and Science on the Go (grades K-1), Circuit Makers (grades 2-3), Video Game Design (grades 2-3) and Girls STEAM (grades 4-5) are just a few of the opportunities for students this year. Don’t miss the chance to get moving! Join one of the many athletic offerings that help develop coordination, build skills and encourage physical fitness. Kayaking on the Charles River (grades 4-5), Tennis (2-3) and other sports choices along with a variety of dance classes (Pre-K-1) including Israeli Dance (grades 2-3) will help your child stay active while having fun. From The Magic of Theater (grades 2-3 and 4-5) to Technical Theater (grades 4-5), students can learn about set design, lighting, special effects, stage makeup and more. The choices go on with art, choirs, cooking…it’s all here! The class calendar and descriptions are filled with engaging, energetic, fun-filled choices for everyone. Registering for Afterschool Hour? The following classes are priced at the Afterschool Hour rate: Running Club, Sports Galore, Flag Football (Lower School), Cross Country, Floor Hockey League and Girls STEAM (Upper School). We look forward to seeing your children at the beginning of the school year and welcome any questions you may have about the program. I hope you are having a great summer!
