Involvement Opportunities

As the new principal, I am committed to exploring multiple ways to foster parent collaboration and gather feedback for the administration My aim is to implement open forums, surveys, and regular meetings to actively engage parents in the decision-making processes regarding their children's education By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, I will seek to strengthen the partnership between the school and parents, ultimately benefiting the entire school community

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
-Robert Collier

My family and I are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we have received upon our arrival in Fort Dodge It has been heartwarming to feel embraced by such a hospitable community We are truly excited about becoming part of the St. Edmond family and are looking forward to contributing to its rich tapestry As I begin my 30th year in education, including 10 years as a classroom English teacher, 19 years as an administrator, 13 years as an Activities Director/Asst Principal, and 6 years as a building principal, I have had the opportunity to work with students from grades 5 to 12 in all aspects of the educational experience I am eager to bring my wealth of experience to St Edmond and contribute to the continued success of this wonderful school community. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions for you

At home I am blessed to have spent the past 11 years married to my wonderful wife, Johanna I am a proud father to Kilian, our 9 year-old son, who will be entering the 4th Grade at St. Edmond, and also to our furry companions: Legend, our 6 month-old puppy, Rex, our 5 year-old cat, and his evil side kick, our 1-year old cat, Binx

Policy

As part of our commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment, we have undertaken a comprehensive revision and update of the Student/Family Handbook. This update includes a thorough review of the dress code to ensure clarity and consistency in our expectations for student attire. We also are refining the attendance policies to emphasize the importance of regular and punctual attendance for academic success Additionally, we will be revising the guidelines for school dances to promote a positive and enjoyable experience for all students Finally, we updated the student health section to include new protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of our students I believe that these updates will strengthen our community and provide clearer guidelines for students and families

Safety

In today's schools, ensuring safety is of utmost importance. The vast majority of the policies and procedures we have in place are designed to establish a safe and orderly school environment. From comprehensive emergency response plans to strict attendance and visitor policies, every measure is taken to prioritize the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. By maintaining a secure environment, we not only create a space conducive to learning but also provide peace of mind to the entire school community It's essential that everyone feels safe and supported within the school environment, and our commitment to this goal remains unwavering

As a first step in cultivating a culture that encourages safe decisionmaking, I have signed St Edmond on to the Iowa SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) program We will have a teen driving safety presentation this fall for our 9-12 grade students I have invited the group THINKFAST Interactive to present in my school before, and can assure parents that our students will have an informative an entertaining presentation focused on making good decisions behind the wheel

Happenings in the Classroom

It is crucial to share and celebrate the positive learning experiences that unfold in our classrooms By highlighting the achievements, progress, and moments of inspiration, we not only recognize the hard work and dedication of our students, but also inspire others to strive for excellence. Parents play a pivotal role in continuing to cultivate inquiry and a love of learning in their children, even as they move into the secondary grades By showing interest in their child's education, asking questions about what they are learning, and engaging in discussions about various subjects, parents can instill a sense of curiosity and a passion for learning in their children This involvement and encouragement from parents not only reinforces the importance of education, but also fosters a positive attitude towards learning within the family and the broader community.

Sharing these experiences encourages a sense of pride within the school, fosters a supportive environment for learning, and serves as a source of motivation for students to engage more deeply in their education By acknowledging and celebrating the positive moments in education, we can inspire ongoing support for schools, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and encourage a lifelong love of learning within the community Keep your eyes on this section for some of the great things happening in the classrooms of St. Edmond Catholic.

During the course of the school year, we will be sharing and celebrating the individuals who have chosen the honorable and invaluable profession of teaching. Sharing snapshots of the personal and professional lives of our faculty members is a way for us to remind ourselves that teachers are people. They have families, goals hopes and dreams, and above all, a love for the students whom they serve on a daily basis

St Edmond has a rich tradition of success in the academic and extracurricular aspects of education. As our Gaels perform in the classroom and the competitive arena, we will look to share the distinctions, recognition, and honors that are awarded to them along the way Look here to find out more about who is doing great things as representatives of our school!
