Happy Spring everyone. We are so happy to say we are out of outbreak status as of March 24th. The changes that come with this are no longer having to wear protective eye wear and some changes in assessment of the residents. The county positivity is at low status and numbers continue to drop. We continue to have to screen all visitors and employees and the use of the Kiosk is going very well.

We appreciate all those that remain supportive during this time and understand that the interventions we have in place are required of us by CMS. Group activities and communal dining will resume, and we are looking forward to some warmer temperatures so that we can get outside for walks and enjoy the fresh air. Residents of the nursing home will resume mass and we are exploring a plan to allow visitors to attend mass with their loved one. That announcement will be coming soon.

We continue to welcome and encourage visits and outings for our residents and will help in any way possible to make that happen.

As always should you need a question answered or discussion about any topic we are always here to help. Thank you for trusting us with the care of your family member or loved one, it is truly our honor to care for all our residents and tenants.

Maintenance and Transportation | Travis Filloon The Maintenance & Transportation Departments remain vigilant about safety throughout the Marian Home & Village. Our maintenance crew is busy constantly making sure that all safety requirements are being met and the transportation drivers remain diligent about inspecting vehicles prior to/throughout each days many trips.

We are beginning our Spring cleaning & maintenance work activities (both inside and out) to ensure our facility can proudly provide cozy, inviting, safe, & attractive areas for our residents, tenants, & families to enjoy the flowers/plants, watch the birds- at the many feeders, or take stroll on the many pathways here at the Marian Home complex! I encourage you to consider taking time to take-in the beauty of Spring while touring our complex with your loved one, whenever the weather permits.

Social Worker | Mary Lundberg April brings us April Fools day, Easter, Volunteer Appreciation, National beer day (7) Cherry cheesecake Day,(23) , Blueberry Pie day (28.) Another day that is noted in April is National Healthcare Decision Day- (16).

I would like to take a moment to talk about how important it is to have family/ friends/ medical provider know what your health care wishes are. I know that talking about your health and what things you may or may not want is not a normal around the dinner table conversation, however it is very import that someone knows what your wishes are. I would encourage everyone to make your wishes known by established a Medical Power of Attorney.

If you are unsure as what you may want or if your situation would change and you feel that you would make a different choice in that situation, I would encourage you to look at the Honoring your Wishes form, or the Five Wishes Form, or an IPOST. I do have copies of these in my office. I know that talking about health care decisions is not a joyful topic yet it is something that is so important to do. I would like to encourage each of you to talk with your family, your health care provider, and also to put something in writing as what your wishes are.

The reason that this is so important is that it does not leave your family to guess as to what you may want. I would encourage everyone to sometime this Month visit with those who may be making healthcare choices for you if you would become unable to do so.

Housekeeping | Tracey Brownfield Did you know that the Easter Bunny originated in Germany in the 1600’s, and was called Oschter Haws or Easter hare?

It was also believed that the Hare laid a nest of colorful eggs for good children instead of candy. The children also left carrots for the Hare so he would have something to eat on his adventures during the night leaving nests of eggs everywhere. Later on in the 1700’s, when Easter Hare came to America, the name was changed to the Easter Bunny and instead of colorful eggs, candy was left instead. Happy Easter!

Hear From Your Activity Directors April is known for beautiful Spring weather; the start of warmer weather and this April the Easter Bunny will make an appearance.

We are looking forward to being outdoors as much as possible and sitting around the fire pit when weather permits.

We will be seeing and hearing the birds as they come back to nest in our trees. April Showers bring May Flowers, so we are hoping some Residents have green thumbs to grow beautiful flowers (sadly neither Pam nor Laura have a green thumb).
