YouthChex A grant giving organisation. By young people, for young people.
YouthChex Youth Chex provides grant money for projects that involve Young People in the Scottish Borders. Am I young? • As long as your between 12-25 How much money do we have? • We give out £20,000 twice a year • That’s £140,000 in the last three years!
So who’s got the money? • Berwickshire High School got £1800 • Gala Fairydean FC junior Section got £1076.44 • LGBT Youth Borders got £1910 • Galashiels Academy got £300
So what’s the catch? The projects that we fund are: • Youth Led ( to the appropriate degree ) • Innovative • Value for Money • Benefit the wider Community as well as young people • And meet the “Getting it right for every child” criteria • Comply with the Curriculum for Excellence • Its also nice if you’ve tried to raise some money towards your project too!

So how does it work? • By young people, for young people! • Your Grant will be assessed by trained young grant makers • We will score your application based on our outcomes, and those with the top scores will get money to help make there project happen • But don’t let this put you off!
After the Decision making day If you receive the money: • You will have the chance to carry out your project with the money we have granted • But you may have only been part funded If you receive any money • you will be expected to refer to us in your publications • and complete a monitoring and evaluation form
And if you didn’t receive the money • Take our returned advice and apply again next time! • If you don’t meet our criteria, other funding is available through Jean Robertson at SBC
Current Events Improvements are currently being made to make YouthChex more youth led so unfortunately‌ No dates have yet been set for new applications however once there has been it will be launched on SBC’s twitter page and the SBC website.
