LIVING, WORKING & THRIVING BETTER, TOGETHER

This school year, we emerged from the pandemic as a united community with a common vision to transform the world through faith, education, and service. Our “Better Together” theme continues to shine a light on what makes our school such a unique place. We acknowledge that the success of our students and community is contingent upon our willingness to work, serve and live Better Together. This year is like others in that St. Philip’s continues to exhibit a spirit of collaboration, partnership, love, and support, but the theme of “Better Together” has cemented the notion that we are unbreakable and indestructible when we are selfless and live out a spirit of togetherness.

Our enrollment exceeded our expectations this year, and our students continue to thrive academically. When you step onto the campus, the air of excitement is palpable. Our newly added 7th graders walk the hall as leaders, risk-takers, and change agents. The growth of our middle school program includes new course offerings such as Latin, Mobile Game Design, Sculpting, Pre-AP, Entrepreneurship, Bible Class, and an athletics program. There is a newly renovated portable and a Middle School Lounge to accommodate our middle school expansion. Our new Middle School Director, Dr. Shaunaisea Henderson, brings her wealth of knowledge and expertise as a former school principal and her love for middle school students. The “middle” years can be challenging for young people, but our newly added counselor and additional resources are available to nurture and support our students. The uniqueness of our program is that we maintain an intimate class size but offer many STEAM-related opportunities outside of the classroom.

Better Together also resonates with our Instructional Leadership Team. The development of this team of exceptional educators was designed to better serve our students, parents, and faculty. Each of our leaders is a proven educator and began as a classroom teacher. Their passion for teaching and learning makes them impactful and a valued resource for our families. Our concentration is not only on our students’ academic success but social and emotional wellness. The instructional leadership team and our teachers recognize the need to reduce student stress and increase resilience, while developing great character. We are Better Together when we care about humanity and teach our students that they are strengthened and empowered when united.

Living, working, and thriving together is a common theme in the Bible. Just as a body is a sum of its parts, so too is a ministry. The overwhelming success of St. Philip’s School and Community Center is because of its partnership and collaborative service to the community, students, staff, and donors. It is the collected belief of all involved that St. Philip’s embraces everyone’s potential to be extraordinary.

Sincere Regards,

Kellee Murrell
