OUR FRIENDS & FAMILY WERE ALL IN FOR ST. PHILIP’S ON NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

The consistently amazing support of our donors proved we are stronger and better together by helping us reach our $100,000 goal for North Texas Giving Day. We appreciate all our friends and families for so thoughtfully choosing to support St. Philip’s official kick-off of the fundraising season toward our overall Annual Fund goal of $3 Million for this fiscal year.

The highlight of this year’s effort was the way in which our students, faculty, and staff showed they were indeed ALL IN for St. Philip’s with nearly 100 percent participation. Many thanks to our PSA for their generous contribution, the first of its kind from the PSA leadership for North Texas Giving Day. When we work together, anything is possible.

2ND ANNUAL BINGO, BBQ, & THE BLUES EVENT PUT THE FUN IN FUNDRAISING

Bingo Chairs, Cheryl & Greg Nelson and Paula & John Mitchell, Honorary Chair, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, and the members of Friends of St. Philip’s held its second annual fundraiser, Bingo, BBQ, & The Blues, on Wednesday, October 26th in the Snyder Activity Center. St. Philip’s auxiliary volunteer group raised approximately $180,000 in critical funds to support the mission and programs of St. Philip’s, specifically for faculty and staff appreciation efforts. The evening was filled with a lot of laughter, fun, delicious barbeque, and included tunes by DJ LC. The festive event featured ten games of bingo, six amazing raffle packages and was again emceed by Chris Arnold, Voice of the Mavs. The special occasion was enjoyed by over 400 guests (an increase from last year!) and friends. Special thanks to the event Host Committee and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the night one of tremendous FUNdraising for St. Philip’s.

SPIRIT OF GRATITUDE SHINED AT BIENNIAL COOKIN’ WITH AUNT BETTE EVENT, BENEFITING COMMUNITY PANTRY

The second biennial COOKIN’ WITH AUNT BETTE event that shines light on the impact of St. Philip’s largest social service program - Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry – was a heartwarming and inspiring gathering of clients, partners, and volunteers. The spirit of gratitude and love that permeated throughout the event was undeniable and a perfect example of why so many have flocked to serve, to give, and support this effective program.

Dina Dixon, Sheila Pate, and Dotti Singhal, all of whom are dedicated volunteers of the pantry, served as co-chairs for the event that featured remarks from trustee, Grace Daniels, Chief External Affairs Officer of North Texas Food Bank, Erica Yaeger, Perot Family Headmaster, Dr. Terry J. Flowers, and St. Philip’s Chief Philanthropy Officer, Anyika McMillan-Herod. The purpose of the event was to shed light on the pantry’s success thus far, celebrate its partners and volunteers, announce the pantry’s expansion project, and provide a fun cooking demonstration to clients.

St. Philip’s alumna and professional chef, Gabrielle McBay (Chef Gabby), proved to be the highlight of this year’s event with her lively and delicious cooking demonstration that offered pantry clients and other attendees' opportunities to ask questions about her recipes, nutrition and more, in between a lot of laughter, smiles, and delightful smacking on her dish samples of cornbread, chili, and tea.

Many thanks to Dotti and Anupam Singhal for helping to underwrite the event and to Café Momentum for providing two sous chefs to assist Chef Gabby.
