FAITHFUL MEALS ON WHEELS VOLUNTEER BOASTS A SERVANT HEART

Every day of the week, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, volunteers are on the St. Philip’s campus preparing to deliver food to community members on preplanned routes through our near three-decade partnership with Visiting Nurses Association and Meals on Wheels (MOW). Without the services Meals on Wheels provides, many of our South Dallas neighbors would struggle to secure nutritious meals regularly. The work of St. Philip’s Meals on Wheels depot, the largest in the southern sector, improves the wellbeing of so many community members, and for that we are grateful.

Loyal volunteer, Earnestine Hadnot, is a key cog of our Meals on Wheels machine. Every day, she makes sure that the MOW meals are prepared, packaged, and distributed to the runners, who then make deliveries directly to community members. When asked why she does it, Ms. Hadnot replied, “This is what God has called on me to do, it is the right thing to do.” She provides these services out of the kindness of her heart and has been in this line of work for many years, working with different organizations to provide food to those in need. Ms. Hadnot displays the qualities of a Servant Heart. She states that this type of work is important and must be done because as believers “we are taught to help our neighbors.”

BEARING FRUIT IN A SEASON OF HARVEST

This school year has brought many opportunities for philanthropists and organizations across the state of Texas to show their unbridled and unwavering support to St. Philip’s. With numerous changes on the horizon like the highly anticipated implementation of 7th and 8th grade and expansion of Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry, we’ve been able to meet our goals with the help of so many behind us, pushing us forward. We extend our deepest gratitude to the following funders for joining us in this important work so compassionately and significantly:

Much of St. Philip’s success is due to the support of the foundations above and other great partnerships that ensure the quality education and social services we provide our students, families, and neighbors continue without fail.

• Eugene McDermott Foundation • Hillcrest Foundation • Lyda Hill Philanthropies • St. Michael and All Angels Church Foundation • The Addy Foundation • The Buford Foundation • The Lattner Foundation

Finally, many thanks to the following corporations and organizations for their gestures of generous support through ongoing volunteerism and treasures: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. AmeriCorps Church of the Transfiguration Episcopal School of Dallas Ernst & Young (EY) Friends of St. Philip’s Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Southwest Suburban Dallas Chapter Junior League of Dallas Jesuit Preparatory School Men of Nehemiah Neiman Marcus Southern Methodist University Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church St. Andrew United Methodist Church St. John’s Episcopal School The Dallas Stars Tolleson Wealth Management TREC Victory Baptist Church of Dallas

EY (Ernst & Young) never fails to show their support to St. Philip’s. For the sixth year in a row, the company selected St. Philip’s as the sight for its EY CONNECT DAY of volunteering. In April, EY provided approximately 80 volunteers to share sweat equity in Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry and Gwen’s Garden, in addition to assisting with campus clean up and landscaping.

ESD STUDENTS SELECT ST. PHILIP’S FOR ANNUAL PHILANTHROPY DAY

Members of the junior class of the Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) received a firsthand account of the strategy, teamwork, and creativity that goes into fundraising for St. Philip’s. They visited and volunteered at our campus on April 6 as a part of ESD’s Philanthropy Day. The students toured our campus and met with our dynamic Philanthropy team to understand all that goes into fundraising for our wonderful ministry. They also volunteered their time to serve our neighborhood clients in Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry. Students also culminated their support of St. Philip’s and the food pantry with a contribution through The Dallas Foundation.
