In Memoriam
Rev. Eugene Keahey 1966 – 2019
Rev. Keahey, a local children’s and youth pastor and community activist, was one of St. Philip’s favorite homilists. His jovial presence and unique homilies always proved to be a treat for our students and faculty. The St. Philip’s community was devastated to learn of his tragic passing,
along with his wife Deanna and daughters, Camryn and Darryn earlier this year. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been blessed by his beautiful spirit and ministry.
Gloria Snyder 1937 – 2018
Mrs. Snyder was a long-time friend, volunteer, and advocate for St. Philip’s School. She and her husband, Ed, supported St. Philip’s with their time, talent, and treasure for over two decades. The
former St. Philip’s trustee, known for her lovely smile and spirit, served as Head of Parish Episcopal School for 29 years. During her tenure, she grew Parish from a small day school into an innovative college prep school that nurtures and teaches children under the banner of Wisdom, Honor, and
Service.
Richard Walker 1947 – 2019
Mr. Walker was one of St. Philip’s neighbors and a trusted fixture in the community. This beautiful soul lived in the Elder Friendly Apartments located a few blocks from the school and often kept
himself busy helping his fellow seniors, cleaning yards, and doing contract work or volunteering for small businesses in the community. The St. Philip’s family will miss hearing his signature laugh
and seeing his big smile.
Gloria Walls 1950 – 2019
Ms. Walls resided in South Dallas for most of her life. For years, she ran a popular beauty salon and in her later years became very active in the community. Most recently, her advocacy helped keep the doors of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center’s Senior Citizens’ center open. St. Philip’s has also been blessed to serve her children and grandchildren through our Community Center programs over the years. It was an honor to call her one of our “favorite” neighbors.
St. Philip’s would also like to extend its deepest sympathies to Mrs. Antoinette Ashley, Laura Jackson, and Senor Jorge Perez - members of our faculty and staff - who lost loved ones this year. May God continue to comfort and strengthen you during your time of loss.
