Elmvale Fall Fair

154th Elmvale Fall Fair was a great show of talent!! We had prize winning quilts, homemade clothes, jams, pickles and baking from the adults. We had posters, writing, baking and crafts made by some talented children. We had some great livestock shows that entertained us and showed off future farmers!! We had a fantastic talent show of singers and Ambassador contestants both Friday and Saturday. The best talent of all is how the schools and the community of Elmvale and surrounding area, worked with the Board of Directors to make the Elmvale Fall Fair a success. Despite the rain we had fun and made the most of a great fair. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Elmvale Fall Fair.

Currie Freightliner, Diamond Head Sprinklers Inc., Will Marshall Insurance Brokers, Powell Jones Chartered Accountants and Sexton’s Mechanical Limited came on board to help with the costs of running this great event. Dan McGinnis, the MC for the evening, kept the audience entertained and the evening flowing. All the speakers did a great job of telling their stories to the packed room, and everyone was treated to a special guest as figure skater/coach Brian Orser was in attendance to present the awards to Michelle Simpson-Leigh. Doug Kirton won the prize for traveling the greatest distance. Doug made the trip from Seattle to receive his award while his brother Scott came a close second by traveling from Alberta. The Kirton boys were highlighted on Barrie CTV that night. If you missed the interviews, you can go to their website to watch them as well as Brian Orser being interviewed. It was a great night and everything went pretty smooth. Many of the inductees and their presenters had some hilarious stories to tell, and they were all honoured to be considered for induction. It will be difficult to top this night in 2016 when the next induction ceremony will be held. The Board will have a hard time paring down the numbers that year because they will be capped at 2 athletes, 2 builders and 1 team. Congratulations to the inductees and the SSHHoF Board for a job well done! (Thanks to Michael Townes)
