Zoho Books - SMS Integration using Spring Edge

SMS Integration with Zoho Books using Spring Edge Gateway Zoho Books is a cloud-based accounting solution. With automated messaging, you can send notifications or update to customers. Instant message notifications will enable you to keep customers updated with information, receive payments on time, etc. You can insert dynamic fields in the SMS templates you create, customize each message you send with minimal effort.

You need to configure webhook and create a workflow to integrate sms api trigger with zoho Books: Configure Webhook: 1. Go to Automation Option of Settings and Select Webhooks.

Here, Click on +New Webook button to create new webhook.

2. Enter Webhook name, Select module, URL to notify and choose Method as POST.

Details are as below: Name : Spring Edge SMS Trigger.

Module : Module for which you want to configure automated sms notifications, Here will use contacts module to send notification to customer mobile on contact creation.

URL to notify : Spring Edge SMS API URL. Method : Method for data transfer from zoho books. Here we will select POST method.

API key and value will be an additional ( custom ) parameter as shown in above snap-shot. You can get API configure from spring edge. API key can also be generated from developers option in your sms account. If you do not have API key or other configurations please contact ​https://www.springedge.com Also, Base URL need to be replaced by your account API URL, this will be a proper http/https URL provided by spring edge for your sms account.

3. Add User Defined Parameters:

Now we need to add user defined parameters, But before that we need to remove one empty parameter box by clicking on small button highlighted in red box.

Now, Enter parameter name as xml or json and value as given XML Code or Json code.

Sender name can be different for each sms account and you can configure sms text as per requirement where sms content can be different for each web-hooks.

You need to set placeholder for mobile number by selecting module, placeholder name, from above dropdown option and click on insert placeholder. You can also set zoho placeholders for values as customer name, if needed.

Finally, click on save button to save our web-hook.

Webhook got created. ​Webhook helps to communicate with messaging api server by sending instant notifications every time when a configured event occurs in ​Zoho​ Books.

Workflow Rule: Now, We need to create and configure a ​workflow rule to call this sms webhook, Workflow Rules in Zoho Books, are a set of actions (alerts, tasks and field updates) that are executed when certain specified conditions are met. These rules automate the process of sending sms alerts when a rule is triggered.

Creating workflow rule:

1. Go to workflow rules and click on New Workflow Rule.

2. Select customers module, enter name and details, click next,

Choose a trigger option and click on Next.

3. Choose Action as Webooks and select webhook “Spring Edge SMS Trigger” .

Finally click on save button to associate created workflow with this workflow rule.

Now, webhook will be called on create or edit action of customers module and it will send sms notification accordingly.
