Lodge 80, Holland Member Serves Ukrainian Refugees
Thank You, Scholarship Applicants! Dear Brothers and Sisters, On behalf of the SPJST Executive Committee, thank you to each and every young member who applied for a 2022 SPJST Scholarship. It is encouraging to know that you will be continuing your studies and are striving to reach your educational goals. We commend you for your efforts!
Monica Pajestka McDougall, right, recently served in Chelm, Poland, with Texas Baptist Men/Central Texas Christian Disaster Response Team ministering to Ukrainian refugees. The team prepared the Easter meal. In addition to ministering to the refugees, they did laundry and cleaned the church where the refugees were housed. Monica is a member of SPJST Lodge 80, Holland.

Scholarship applications that were received prior to the deadline date of February 1 were evaluated in detail by a team of collegiate judges. The five criteria that factored into the selection process included Academic Performance, Extracurricular Activities, Community Service, Personal Statement, and Letters of Recommendation. This was the first year for our online scholarship application process, and the number of applications that were submitted far exceeded the number of scholarships that SPJST was able to present. As a result, some very good students had to be declined. Congratulations to those who were selected to receive incoming freshman or undergraduate scholarships. Applicants who were not selected this year are strongly encouraged to reapply again for the SPJST scholarships which will be awarded in 2023. That deadline will be February 1, 2023. We wish you only the best in all your future endeavors.
