Lodge 204 Stephenville Christmas party December 2

Just to let all members know that on Saturday, December 2, 2006, is the Lodge 204, Stephenville Christmas party which is free of charge to all lodge members and guests. The party will be held at the Koffee Kup Restaurant in Hico, Texas, beginning at 2 p.m. All members are urged to attend and have a great time. The year 2006 has been a great year for the lodge. Members participated in the Fourth of July parade in Stephenville and the Cranfills Gap Septemberfest and had a picnic in the park in June. We also had a nine-pin no-tap bowling tournament at Lone Star Lanes in Stephenville in October and raised $1,361. The lodge donated $420 to YABA, $420 to the Foster’s home for children, and $420 to the SPJST Scholarship Fund. At the last meeting, members voted to give $100 to the Hico High School Library to place new books in the library. Yours truly’s health has not been the best for the year but things seem to be getting better and maybe next year will be better. At our December meeting, the lodge elects new officers. So all

members need to think about who you want to lead the lodge for the next year. Vote for the person who you think will do the best job and make our lodge a great success in the future. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Christmas party again this year. Fraternally, Norman M. Kneschk President/Treasurer —SPJST—

During the evening, the election of new officers will also be held. Fraternally, Mark J. Smith, Reporter —SPJST—

Fort Worth Friendship Club The Fort Worth Friendship Club met on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at St. Thomas Parish Hall with 40 members and seven guests present. Our guests were Marlene Bass, Alma Certa, Marilyn Llewellyn, Fran Schultz, John Sparks, Christian Donaldson, and Sonja Hodgson. President Alice Barnes called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone, and thanked Joe Kozel for the music before the meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all followed by a prayer “Teach Me to Go Slow Lord” read by Alice. It was nice to have Lucille Kret with us again as she had been in the hospital. Also, it was nice to have Linda Sparks and Merel Kovar back with us. We were saddened to learn of the death of Ollie Creamer, husband

of Elizabeth Creamer, our member. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, Elizabeth. The minutes were read by Secretary Rose Ann Spann, and the financial report was given by Treasurer Mary Ann Kozel. Both were accepted as presented. The singing of “Happy Birthday” went out to November celebrants, Elizabeth Creamer, Ella Greer, Tracy Horn, and Merel Kovar. May you all have many more. Sunshine person Willie Mae Becan reported on sending get well cards to Anna Johnson, Ima Lou Crider, Lois Smith, and Lucille Kret. Everyone signed a card for Dottie Herek. A sympathy card was sent to Bob and Pat McWilliams on the death of their son. Thank you notes were read from Anna Johnson and from Judith O. Smith thanking the Club for the invitation for her firm to make the reverse mortgage presentation. On behalf of the Nominating Committee, Chairperson Annie Whitsell presented a slate of officers for the year 2007 which were unanimously elected as follows: President Alice Barnes Vice President Rosie Steinman Secretary Rose Ann Spann Treasurer Mary Ann Kozel The Christmas social was discussed, and we will have ham and chicken. Monetary gifts will be given to Father Sal and Father Gerald. It was reported that Father Gerald fell and broke his shoulder and will be having surgery. Get well soon, Father Gerald. For those wanting to participate in the Christmas exchange, please bring a $5 gift. Hostesses will be Ima Lou Crider, Sharon Connelly, Katherine Omsbee, and Rose Ann Spann. As a fund-raiser, Anna Marie Moncrief donated a hand crochet neckscarf made from fuzzy yarn. We all bought chances. Linda Horner was the lucky winner. Thanks, Anna Marie. Everyone brought items for the St. Thomas Food Pantry and Alice called to tell me 200 items plus $30 was donated. With the cash, Alice purchased jelly. Knowing the shopper

Alice is, I am sure she got a “good deal” on jelly. Special thanks go out to Henrietta Milan for the five door prizes she donated to us. That was very thoughtful and much appreciated. All of us just love getting gifts. Then one person at each table was a winner of the ceramic pumpkin table decorations which were donated by Anna Marie. As my luck runs, I didn’t win anything. Our November hostesses, Anna Marie Moncrief, Agnes Reznicek, and Rose Ann Spann, did a super job with the food table and all the tables decorated with the Thanksgiving motif. Everything was so nice, and our turkey chefs, Anna Marie and Betty and Stanley Krenek, did a superb job as the turkeys and dressing were mighty tasty. Thanks for a beautiful job. Rose Ann led us in grace then the Thanksgiving feast was enjoyed by all. Following lunch, games were played. News On October 20, Annie Whitsell had a new great-granddaughter, Anna Lynn Milford, born in Erie, Colorado. Annie was so proud that the new baby was named after her. Congratulations! Annie will have to miss our Christmas social as she is leaving on another cruise on December 2. I guess we need to start calling her “Cruising Annie” as she is always going on one. Thinking of you wishes go out to Martha Boenisch who now resides in an assisted living home in Azle. We’ve missed you, Martha! Annie Marie Moncrief and son, Patrick, have just returned from a trip to the Holy Lands. You must tell us all about your trip. Lydia and Roy Alholm are also the proud grandparents to a new little girl named Parker. Baby Parker’s dad is Danny Alholm, the second son to the late Tony Alholm, and the son who followed in his dad’s profession and works in his dad’s law firm in downtown Chicago. Congratulations, Lydia and Roy. They are now looking forward to February when the entire family will come to Texas for a visit. Last Sunday, I had lunch with Lydia, Roy, and Frances at the Wellington, and the food is always so good. No wonder Roy is gaining weight. They send their regard to all their friends. Lydia is cleaning house again. This time they are moving across the hall so that Roy can look out and see the front — he always enjoyed sitting on the front porch during the summer.
