and report about the lodge and encourage the students at the University of Texas by inviting them to her home. Soon after, Brother Raymond and Sister Alice Prasatik pitched in to help and now the lodge is in their and other members' hands.

In last week's (September 21st) issue, page 3, columns 3 and 4 are the minutes of a Special Meeting of our Supreme Lodge held September 6, 1988. The minutes reveal that SL President Leshikar, Vice President Gebala and Legal Advisor Kacir were selected to represent our SPJST Society at a "Public Hearing on the Fraternal Agent Licensing Bill" September 7, 1988 at 9 a.m. The last two paragraphs of the minutes mentioned read as follows: "On motion by Director Prochazka seconded by Director Broz, and adopted unanimously, the following positions were agreed upon: That the Supreme Lodge opposes the licensing of agents of fraternal benefit societies as proposed in draft dated August 26, 1988; however, this Society is anxious to work with the department on arriving at acceptable legislation.

It was pointed out that the relationship with the State Board of Insurance has always been one of cooperation and mutual respect and it is hoped that this relationship will continue."

This pertains to proposals to be made to the next Texas legislature and, of course, our Supreme Lodge officers are working in sincere cooperation with the State Insurance Department to come to a satisfactory resolution of all particulars connected with the issue. Since the hearing, your editor has learned that the State Insurance Department has been very cooperative with our officers and our officers appreciate their understanding the work of our fraternal societies and their work in the field of fraternal, benevolent and humane help in making our members better citizens of Texas and the United States.

All of us fraternalists value the help our legislators give us, especially those who are members of our societies. ***

The back page entitled BEWARE should be read very carefully by our members. Too many times there are sales people who try to convince others that they have "something better" to offer and, as usual, it is always advisable to read "the fine print" which generally, takes away what is offered in BIG PRINT. BEWARE is a good word to always remember when someone offers you a "Pie - In - The Sky" deal. Be sure you are not buying "A pig - in - a - sack," which may turn out to be a bundle of rags! ***

Recently, these columns had a few words about "From Small . .

Beginnings" and many happenings in our lives and our SPJST are associated with that phrase. In this issue is a nice letter from Lodge Hlava Texasu (Head of Texas) No. 155, Austin by Sister Alice Prasatik, reporter, with pictures, about their meeting and a nice writeup about Sister Lillie Kopecky Hejl, charter member of that lodge. There is also an Expression of Sympathy submitted from the lodge. Memory goes back 20 years when Sister Hejl was, more or less, the "mainstay" of that lodge, little - known, in Austin when she would write to the Vestnik

The month of October appears to be the time of several events in store for your entertainment, namely: October 8 -- Lodge No. 92, Fort Worth will observe its 50th anniversary of their spacious lodge building on Saturday; October 16 -- Czech Day in Dallas at the State Fair of Texas, which is always a huge affair for our Czech people; also a Czech Heritage Festival will take place in Victoria at the Bluebonnet Convention Center; October 23 -- Lodge 79 and Sokol Corpus Christi will celebrate its 10th anniversary of their beautiful lodge hall, which was postponed from September 18 to its re - scheduled date due to hurricane Gilbert; all past advance tickets will be honored on their re - scheduled date; October 30 -- District meetings to be held in District III with Lodge 25, Ennis hosting, also volleyball and kolache bake contest will take place; Lodge 32 Victoria plans to host District VI meeting at the Victoria Community Center Annex; Lodge 79 volunteered to host District VII meeting at their hall in Corpus Christi.

In addition to another activity taking place on the same date, Lodge 88, in Houston, will celebrate their Annual Czech Day when a large number of members gather for the celebration.

Members and non-members are encouraged to wear their Czech costumes at these Czech Day functions and be proud of your culture and heritage! ***

With passage of the Deceptive Mailings Prevention Act of 1988 considered likely by year's end, it should become much tougher for a certain kind of advertiser to "take" you through the mail. A common scheme - sending out lures for your money d'sguised as government documents or "invoices" -- will no longer be legal unless the envelopes and the mail are clearly labeled as solicitations. Even assuming the bill is passed. Postal Service spokesmen say, deceptive mail may continue to sneak

by You can avoid being fooled if you know what to look for. The elderly are favorite targets of such schemes, which are used by both legitimate firms and con artists. Typically, recipients are led to believe they must pay a fee to protect medicare or Social Security benefits. Other firms offer to obtain Social Security cards for up to $20 or Small Business Administration loan forms are $200, services free from the government. Still others tout unnecessary name - change forms for brides for $10 to $12 and a worthless "Homestead Declaration," which supposedly protects property rights, for $25. The law would affect any solicitations for the purchase of goods or services that post as invoices, that deceptively use seals or names that imply government affiliation or endorsement, or that offer for - a - fee services that the government provides free or for less money. Mail that fails to comply with the new law would be destroyed. ***

SPJST First Annual Volleyball Tournamen The Supreme Lodge Board has approved the First Annual SPJST Volleyball Tournament for members 16 and over.

Each lodge is eligible to have two (2) teams represent their lodge at the district playoffs. The first and second place winners in the district will represent their district at the state finals.

Contact your local lodge officer about setting up a team for your lodge.

Teams must notify the District Youth

Counselor of their entry in the tournament. The District Youth Counselor will be the coordinator for their respective district.

The State Tournament will be held November 5, 1988 in Temple.

There will be prizes given at the district and the state level.

Minutes Of The SPJST District III Meeting Held April 17, 1988 At Lodge 84, Dallas The SPJST District III spring meeting was held on Sunday, April 17, 1988 at Lodge 84 in Dallas. The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Richard Burney, president, presiding. Larry Yates led the Pledge of Allegiance and recited the SPJST Motto. Sister Evelyn Salac, secretary of Lodge 84, welcomed all members and guests.

Response was by 1st Vice President Brother Johnnie Gaidusek, Sr. Second Vice President Sister Mydell Grochoske, on behalf of District III officers and entire membership, expressed condolences to the families of 44 departed brothers and sisters. A moment of silence was observed as a tribute to these and to all departed brothers and sisters.

The following were appointed to serve on the Audit Committee: Brother

Robert Dobecka, Lodge 6; Brother Emil Petr, Lodge 84; and Brother Ray Orsag, Lodge 66.

The minutes of the preceding meeting held on October 25, 1987, in Fort Worth, were approved as published in the Vestnik.

Brother Sid Pokladnik, District III director, reviewed the Rules and Regulations as set up concerning the duties of the secretary, pointing out that accurate minutes of all deliberations get to the Vestnik for publication 30 days after the meeting.

There was some discussion as to whether or not the minutes should be printed 30 days prior to the next meeting, thus serving as a memory jogger. Brother George Pauling moved that we amend the R&Rs to read that minutes be published in the Vestnik 30 days prior to the next meeting. The

motion was seconded by Brother Rudy Sefcik, editor, and it carried. The change in the amendment to the R&Rs will be voted on at the fall district meeting.

Brother Jerry Milan, chairman of the SPJST By - law Committee, reported they had three meetings with the next one scheduled next weekend in Temple. He stated this has been a very important year for the By - law Committee since it is a convention year. He discussed some of the issues coming up, including direct bill of all local lodges; increases in allocations by the Supreme Lodge to district general expense funds; to hosting lodges of district meetings and youth activities day; attendance at By - law Committee meetings; recommendation to have annual workshop in first quarter of the year for training of local lodge officers; recommendation that votes of Supreme Lodge officers and directors at Supreme Lodge meetings be published along with what is passed and not passed; recommendation to have Certified Public Accountant annually audit the books or to check status of the Society; recommendation that the Supreme Lodge work toward SPJST Recreation Center; re - work duties of the Supreme Lodge president and other Supreme Lodge officers; recommendation to completely re structure the way the Society was organized; premium refunds to local lodges; changes in the way some of the delegates are elected to the convention, and recommendation concerning the number of appraisers who are used and recommendation for use of private appraiser to go with the district director on certain loans. Brother Milan stated the By - laws Committee strives to get the best set of by - laws for our Society by - laws that do the best good for the largest number of members. He stated he had enjoyed serving on this committee and thanked everyone for giving him that opportunity.

Brother Arnold Vrla, District III Finance Committee, chairman, stated the Finance Committee and By - law Committee on certain items intertwined. He mentioned he felt the Supreme Lodge should provide more assistance to the host lodge of district meetings and youth activities. He stated on some occasions the lodges suffer losses when it is necessary for them to rent a facility for the event.

Brother Vrla stated those serving on the Finance Committee were business people, intelligent and were fraternalists. He reported they have had two joint meetings with the By law Committee on the things that intertwine and that it was a pleasure working with that committee. He stated much time is spent on researching information, and in getting reports on information requested. The committee had always received prompt and accurate information which prepared them well in furnishing answers to some of the problems. Brother Vrla stated the By law and Finance Committees would have a detailed report in the Vestnik 30 days before the Convention. He asked that these be read, studied carefully, and taken to the membership to see what they want so that delegates would be prepared when they come to the Convention. Brother Vrla stated he was proud to serve on the Finance Committee as chairman because others on this committee are very capable and because of the superb cooperation from the Home Office.

Greetings from the Supreme Lodge were brought by Brother Leonard Mikeska, Secretary - Treasurer, from

the Home Office. Brother Mikeska congratulated and presented Brother Daniel Roznovsky a Fraternal Insurance Counselor certificate on his completion of a prescribed course of study required by the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors. Brother Roznovsky was also presented a gold FIC pin to be worn beside his SPJST pin.

Brother Mikeska complimented all committees for their excellent reports.

He talked briefly about the Convention and said they plan to make the stay as convenient as possible and to see they have a good time. There may be some problems with accommodations, due to the softball tournament held that weekend, but he said they will see to it that they get solved. He stated there would be catered lunches available at the Convention Center and encouraged the delegates to try the meal on Monday.

Brother Mikeska stated the SPJST is in outstanding shape but there are some things that can be improved upon. He stated we have a very good fraternal program over the State of Texas; SPJST has a good portfolio and members have an opportunity to purchase the best products available.

He is encouraged and senses a strong desire to now start concentrating more on fraternal activities. He also stated that one of the things he feels is important and that is creating a lot of interest in the refund to lodges. The Supreme Lodge has come up with a formula for a new rebate program that will be made public shortly and which will require a change in the by - laws. It includes rebate for new products, another formula per member, and incentive for sales of new products within the lodges. He mentioned some members find it difficult to see the connection between life insurance and fraternal activities. The SPJST has many facets and this is one of the facets -- the insurance program brings in revenues and profits are diverted to use in the area of fraternal activities.

They are definitely tied together and support one another.

Brother Ben Jarma, chairman of the Insurance Committee, reported they had held two meetings in Temple. He discussed some of the things coming before the Insurance Committee, including recommendation to modify JT Term Policy plan which would be initially from 0 to 25; reported new rate books should be delivered before the Convention; blood testing was endorsed; discussed the importance of all sales representatives attending lodge meetings, district meetings and sales seminars; proposal to establish a Screening Committee for the positions of Supreme Lodge officers, directors and editor from which candidates will be selected. Brother Jarma also reminded members there was still time to submit any change to the Insurance Committee. He stated he enjoyed serving on the committee and will continue to do so if he can.

The following financial reports were submitted by Brother Albert Banik, treasurer. District III General Fund -balance 10 - 25 - 87 -- $876.13; income -- $678.80; disbursements -- $300; leaving a balance of $1,254.93. The District III Youth Fund -- balance as of 10 - 25 - 87 -- $2,519.12; there was no income and no disbursements, leaving a balance as of 4 - 17 - 88 -$2,519.12. Brother Banik thanked the lodges in District III for sending in their dues which had been increased from 5 cents to 10 cents per member.

The motion was seconded by Sister Justine Andreason and it carried. The Supreme Lodge will provide $45 for each activity and, if the district so desired, could give additional prizes.

Brother Albert Kubala talked about the success and interest in Taroky, and about the beginning of the tournaments. It was suggested those lodges interested in starting Taroky classes on a local level should contact the Supreme Lodge President. It was pointed out there was a growing interest in Taroky, as well as in Dominoes and "42" tournaments, all of which the Supreme Lodge supports.

The Audit Committee reported the District III General Expense books and the District III Youth Club books were in excellent order.

There were no nominations from the floor. A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the nominations by the committee be accepted.

It was agreed the next district meeting would be held at Lodge 25 in Ennis. Our thanks to Lodge 25 for requesting to host this meeting. A tentative date of October 23, 1988 was mentioned but it was understood the date will depend on scheduling at the host lodge.

Brother Albert Kubala announced he is a candidate for District III substitute director.

Officers were installed by Brother Sid Pokladnik.

Our thanks to Lodge 84, in Dallas, for being so gracious in hosting this very successful meeting. The food was delicious and the hospitality great. The program presented by the youth was enjoyed by all and the youth members of Lodge 84 are to be congratulated for their parts in the "Spring District III Salute." Wonderful Czech music during the lunch hour was provided by the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra under the direction of Brother Pokladnik. It was great -- our sincere thanks to Brother Sid and to all his great musicians.

Our thanks to the Home Office for the donation of the SPJST dominoes, jacket, cap and floating pen. These and a total of $100 in cash were awarded as door prizes at various intervals throughout the day.

Lodge No. 6, Cottonwood Our lodge meeting was held Sunday, September 11 at 1 p.m. which opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and SPJST Motto by Sharon Hrabal. All members remained standing for a moment of silence for Brother Joseph F. Stiborek, 89. He was born in Czechoslovakia and he lived most of his life in the West - Ross area. He served in the Marines during World War I and he was our member since December 1, 1948.

The president proceeded with the meeting and called upon Barbara Hykel to read the minutes of our last meeting. Then, Treasurer George Straten gave his report and all were accepted.

Sympathy card was sent to Joseph and Cynthia Krizan of Garland in the passing away of her mother recently.

Get well cards were sent to Albin Svacina, Celia and Kriste Dobecka and Daniella Kroll. We had a thank you note from Sister Annie Schroeder for honoring her from our lodge as a hardship case. She has both of her legs amputated above her knees; it is a terrible thing to talk about that it has to be this way. She was always an active person at our lodge and glad to help out whenever she could. We miss her very much. She enjoys visitors, too, so I want you go and say hello and spend a few moments chatting with her.

Chairman George Straten gave a short report of our last Trustees' meeting; he talked about Westfest and how much fun he and his wife, Josie Mae had baking bread on his vacation week, going to the hall at 2 in the morning (every morning) to take frozen bread out to be baked that day (72 loaves) each day for 5 days. Others who helped out one day each were Willie Mae Schuetz, Lydia Dobecka, Georgia Soukup, and may be others who I don't know of. The others who helped at the hall Saturday and Sunday for Westfest were Cyrill and Christine Svrcek cooking (650 lbs.) potatoes.

There was some excitement and upsetting when the water stopped running at the hall at cooking time.

They had to run around and haul water from near neighbors. The other work that was done was baking 157 dozen sausage kolache, 125 dozen fruit, 80 strudles and 360 loaves of bread. During the 2 days at Westfest, we served and dished out 94 gallons of sauerkraut, 800 lbs. pork sausage, 650

lbs. potatoes, plus 15 more gallons; all of these ingredients made 2300 boats served and 1500 sausage sandwiches; not counting tea and coffee. The committee in charge was Robert and Lydia Dobecka who kept everything going by bringing in the food for us and cooking sausage and warming the sauerkraut. Eddie Ray was cooking all the sausage. This committee wishes to express their THANKS and APPRECIATION to all who helped in the booth or in any other way.

Willie Mae Schuetz wishes to send thanks to all who helped her with the float and to our driver, Ronnie Kroll.

We also had a sausage kolache baking winners from our lodge. The GRAND CHAMPION was Sister Linda Pliscott and Willie Mae Schuetz placed second; President Johnnie Krizan won a T - Shirt in the 5000 Kolache Run Contest.

The rest of the meeting proceeding was accepting new members, namely, Brenda D. James, Michael J. Krizan, Bobbi Michelle Krizan and Kryslyn Edna Kellner. We welcome them to our lodge and we hope they come to see us sometimes.

The donations voted on by our membership, were some items to the Penelope and Tours bazaars.

After all these happenings, our president wishes to express his sincere thanks to all who worked hard and some did work harder to make these two days at West fest good and successful. There were sheets of reports figured and printed by the president and handed out to all the members who were present at the meeting of the gross receipt of sales, gross profit margin and operation expenses. We wish there were more present to see the results.

A nice donation was from Mary Pavlovsky, Mary Krizan, Willie Mae Schuetz and Josie Mae Straten who donated lots of cup towels to our lodge kitchen. Thank you, sisters, for a good gift because we needed them.

Our next meeting is October 2 at 1 p.m. Door prize meeting was won by Josie Mae Straten. The progressive prize of $10 name was drawn for Kathy Brem; another $10 -- Keith Halamik; and the third prize of $5 was Virginia Marek; none were present. I hope to see more of you at the next meeting.

Secretary June Harwell read a letter from DYC Frank Klinkovsky inviting Lodge 15 members to the District II meeting at Lodge 18 in Elgin, September 25th.

All officers were present. The secretary, treasurer, financial secretary and committee reports were accepted as read.

We welcomed one new member, namely, Tyson Andrew Miller, little

grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kamenicky.

We want to thank Ed Svoboda and Leslie Sakewitz for fixing the plumbing. Our members sure do appreciate the good job.

On behalf of RVOS Insurance, Charslie Svetlik presented a donation to Joe Biskup, chief of Buckholts Fire Department and Thomas_ Harwell, chief of Cameron Fire Department. I think everyone appreciates the job that these two departments do.

Our sympathy goes to the family of John Skrabanek, who passed away since our last meeting. Mr. Skrabanek was the father of our lodge president, LaVerne Cabla.

Youth Leader Rose Harvell gave us a report from the youth club. Several

of our youth club members went to Six Flags on September 11 with the District II youth. Also, the youth are planning a Halloween Party the end of next month. There will be a hayride and wiener roast. The date has tentatively been set for October 29th or October 30th.

Don't forget the District II meeting on September 25 in Elgin. Our lodge will have a country store booth. If you have any donations to this booth, contact LaVerne Cabla or Arleen Tschoerner.

Dear Members: On the first Sunday, October 2nd, the monthly meeting of Lodge Karel Jonas will be held at 2 p.m. in the lodge hall. The regular "Order of Business" will be used. The agenda will have the standard reports along with an open floor discussion on "who is and what time are they going" to the District VI fall meeting in Victoria on October 30th. Also, the agenda will cover those items needing immediate attention to further lodge business.

A luncheon and fraternal gathering is planned after the meeting.

The September 11th monthly meeting had a fair quorum along with two guests present. The meeting was short, lasting approximately 30 minutes. In his report, this writer referred to the back page of the August 24th issue of the Vestnik and told all present the importance of this. Also, the importance of the sales representatives to the lodge, their readiness to help anyone with questions about insurance and the names of these sales representatives were given. All other reports were accepted as they were given. One motion was made and passed to take care of some very old and pending business.

For the first time since the door prizes have been given, this writer placed his name in the box and the lodge secretary, Brother Albert Lupik, pulled his name.

The luncheon and fraternal gathering was used as the Executive Committee meeting of the National Cemetery Association as well as a general discussion session. With the food and drink furnished by the lodge, Sisters Kortis, Brdecka, Sontag, H. Kelner and Nezval along with Brothers Lupik, Kubena and "Tony" Kelner donated food and drink. Also, our guests, Edwin and Annie Srubar, brought some food and drink to help out. Thank you folks, for making these sessions pleasant gatherings.

The cleanup went fast with Sisters H. Kelner and Nezval leading the way.

Young Jessica Kelner was also doing her part. Annie Srubar worked along with the crew like a member instead of a guest. Thank you, ladies and gents, for a job well done.

Mr. Edwin Srubar found the short in our electrical system that kept blowing fuses. A big thanks to him, we were able to finish making the coffee by having the pot plugged into the

The minutes of the August meeting were read by Vice President Mary Alice Langlotz and were approved.

She also read a letter from Rosemarie Banik about the volleyball and kolache contests.

Sister Darlene Engelke read a letter from Albert Banik concerning the District III meeting.

Sister Polly Gaidusek gave the Entertainment Committee report; for our October 16 meeting, we will have casseroles and members are asked to bring casseroles.

Sister Jeanette Smith reported on the Fraternal Committee and she thanked us for the canned goods she received and the ones who forgot may bring them to our October 16 meeting.

Youth Leader Gladys Yates was absent and the report was given by Diane Engelke.

Sister Libbie Parma reported on the Trust Fund. Donation was from Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Mueller for Ed Langlotz. She also gave the point merit awards to the youth members.

Our new members accepted were LeRoy Edwards, Jr., Jerry Lee Juhl, Jr., Jacob C. Juhl, Ronda Leann Juhl, David Whiteside, Margaret Rose Whiteside, Robert E. Cervenka and Rose ICrupala. Transferees from Lodge 35, Elk, were Jamie Williams and James Williams, Jr. Welcome to Lodge 66!

Sister Emma Ceska reported on the District III meeting to be held in Ennis on October 30th. Also, a discussion was about the lodge motto which will be checked into.

President George Pauling had a report on the volleyball tournament; they will start practice Monday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Linden Hall, so if you are interested in playing get in contact with President George Pauling or Sister Gladys Yates.

President George Pauling reported on "Fraternalist of the Year" and names will be taken until November.

The October meeting will be October 16th.

Sister Gloria Locke sent a get well card to Sister Cory Pruitt.

Due to Hurricane Gilbert the 10th anniversary of the hall, which was scheduled for September 18th, was postponed.

Ball Club Report -- Brother Jarma reported that the fishing trip was a lot of fun and Brother Ben reported that Brother Sid Pokladnik was a fine chef; they also welcomed Brother Otto Janousek, a sponsor, as well as Brother Joe Ondrusek, another sponsor, to fish and bring in the big ones.

Sunshine Committee Report -Sympathy cards were sent to Sister Frances Baleja family, Sister Louise Cooper family, Brother Alvin Hamusek family, and Brother David Liska family. May your loved ones have eternal rest.

House Committee Report -- Brother A Salac reported a new a/c unit is being installed tomorrow. • A new bar cooler was voted on and will be purchased, also a cabinet was repaired by Brother Salac. He reported and thanked Brother Randy and Sister Rose Scott for trimming outside hedge.

Special Committee Report -- was given by Sister Salac.

Sister Linda Novak reported for Youth Leader Bessie Petr that the Juniors are having a meeting today and will practice Beseda for the Fair; the Teens meet next Sunday at the Andreason's and will practice Beseda as well as hold their meeting. She thanked all for donations for the youth bake sale. Sister Linda thanked Rudolph's Market, where the sale was held.

Sunday, September 11, 1988 at 2 p.m., President Dennis Hermis called our regular monthly meeting to order.

We had 39 members, 4 guests and 16 children present; all stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.

Then, the secretary held roll call of officers; all officers and board members were present. Also all officers' reports were read.

It was time to elect our Rules and Regulations Committee at the meeting.

The committee consists of President Dennis Hermis, Robert Kieschnick, Sidon Tumis, Fred Buri, Jr. and Martin Kieschnick.

Brother Sidon Tumis is Number One in our State with life insurance sales -all members gave him a big round of applause. Congratulations, to Brother Tumis and a big thank you for a job well done.

Birthdays and anniversaries for this month of September were observed.

Congratulations to Mrs. Lula Gambil (September 12), Robert Kiesnchick (September 3), Michael Schiewart (September 16) and John Buri (September 20). Robert and Mary Ann Kieschnick (23rd anniversary) and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leitko (48th anniversary).

Capsule drawing for $90 went unclaimed due to the absence of Nona T. Lyles. The next month's attendance prize goes to $100. I hope to see you win. Four door prizes went to Frank Tumis, Rita Hermis, H.R. Hermis and Curtis Kieschnick.

The oldest member present was Lorraine Motl who won a $5 prize.

Our regular monthly meeting was opened by President Louis Grochoske with ten members present.

Austin Lodge No. 155 Report Summer Activities Our annual picnic and meeting held at the Deer Creek Ranch Lake near Dripping Springs, with Clarence and Doris Boriski in charge, was held Sunday, July 10th. In spite of a heavy thunderstorm in the Austin area just minutes before the meeting/picnic, we had a good turnout. It did not rain there, so we had the usual hot dog barbecue with all the trimmings and plenty of delicious punch -- even desserts. Everyone had a great time.

This beautiful lake - picnic site was selected by a 25 to 30 Hollywood crew, including actor David Keith playing Elvis Presley and actress Tuesday Weld, portraying his mother, to shoot beautiful night scenes in the forthcoming movie "Heartbreak Hotel." As a memorial, they left a beautiful gazebo constructed on the grounds that they used in the filming.

The August meeting was held Sunday (21st) at 3 p.m. at our members, Ted and Neldina Marek's home, 208 East Mimosa in San Marcos on top of the hill from Aquarena Springs. Several members car pooled from Austin. We had a nice turnout.

During the meeting, Raymond Prasatik, secretary, read the list of all deceased members of this lodge. Rev. Robert Holliday of Austin was a guest and said a prayer. Rev. and Mrs. Jesse Skrivanek of Austin were guests, also Mrs. Laura Ruggles from Austin.

We thank the gracious host and hostess for inviting us in their lovely home and for the delicious refreshments they served. It truly was a special treat to have a special tour of Ted's manicured landscaped lawn and beautiful flower beds bordered with dozens of plants and blooming flowers. The terrace with hanging baskets was a sight to behold, especially with the unique watering system he developed which is computerized in a corner of his house.

Sprinklers for lawn, etc. can be turned on anywhere on timers just by turning and/or pressing the buttons. Ted even has orchids growing in the backyard clinging to his trees -- pecan trees of all things.

Another charter member, Lillie Kopecky Hejl, of SPJST Lodge 155 who dedicated her life to SPJST perpetuating ideals, fraternal spirit, charitable deeds, hosting countless meetings and social gatherings primarily in their home, was laid to rest Saturday, September 10, 1988 next to her beloved husband, John. As a last act of love each of her children and grandchildren brought her a cut flower from her beautiful flower garden and greenhouse and placed them in her arms during the prayerful ceremony at the funeral home. What a thoughtful tribute!

After being hospitalized twice at Seton Medical Center, she died a month later from cerebral vascular disease.

This extremely energetic lady was an inspiration to all who were fortunate to meet her. Her judicious advice and wise guidance were accepted by everyone with deep appreciation.

Lillie Kopecky Hejl served as president several times and at the 50th anniversary celebration of SPJST Lodge 155 she was given the title of Honorary Chairman for the rest of her life. She was responsible for enrolling 25 members of her family in the SPJST. She will be greatly missed but remembered always.

The great number of friends who expressed their last respects at the funeral home and cemetery services, even a beautiful eulogy recited in Czech by a niece, was proof of geniune admiration and affection for her.

After the funeral everyone was invited for a meal in her large family home on Shoalmont. The spacious, beautiful yard and terrace provided space for the large crowd. Friends and relatives brought a lot of food. Many treasured memories of bygone days in her home were shared with one another. Lillie would have wanted this, her farewell party, with her loved ones sharing.

88 Birthday Club

On September 14, 1988 the Birthday Club Sisters met in the lodge dining room at 11:20 a.m. for their regular monthly meeting and luncheon.

President Kathy Trefell opened the meeting with Pearl Hanka giving a reading entitled, "Battle Hymn of Aging." President Kathy then called the roll. We had a smaller crowd than usual, but unfortunately had reason such as the hurricane, "Gilbert," threatening us all week and also several sick members.

The minutes were read by Pearl Hanka in place of Secretary Rosalee Kostom who was at the bay boarding up her home there. (We should all be so thankful that we were spared here along the coast.) The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer Lillie Spies gave the financial report for August, 1988 which was also accepted.

Our Sunshine Lady Mary Kosut was absent, again, and, therefore, had no report. Mary had been in the hospital for a small surgery and is doing fine.

Our Sister Tilly Bily always donates to our club, which is really appreciated. She donated coffee, flavored tea, cremora and sugar - items we always need. Thank you on behalf of the members!

Our next big event at the lodge is Czech Day and, as usual, we have the pastry booth with Lillie Spies in charge. Kathy asked for pastry which is Sunday, October 30 and also from anyone else in our great Society. There will be a big crowd, so we need plenty of "sweets."

President Kathy also asked that the gifts for our gift table should be worthwhile gifts, something you'd be proud to win. Please take NOTICE of this.

Our members who are ill are as follows: Betty Kulhanek, Birdie Pech and Della Kadlecek. A sweet card would certainly give these ladies a "lift."

The present from President Treffell was won by Pearl Hanka and the Calcutta gift was won by Marie Pokluda and Ardith McClellan.

The cooks for September were Mary Schenburn with Susan's help, Margaret Spahr, Gladys Pulley and Alma McNaspy.

The birthday celebraties for September were Tilly Bily, Pearl Hanka, Lillie Johnson, Susan Murray and Birdie Pech. "Happy Birthday" was sung and then we adjourned with a prayer and grace by President Kathy Trefell.

Friendship Club Fort Worth Dear Members and Friends: I missed the September meeting because I had a chance to get a ride to St. Louis and be with my family and couldn't pass it up. We were gone 6 days and had a wonderful trip.

Circle Of Czech Women

The September 1 meeting was called to order by President Podhradsky. A moment of silence was observed for Henry Snapka, Bertha Paryzkova, Louis Jurcik and Frank Stransky.

Guests introduced were Marie Kalkus, Hynecek Jitka, Betty Houzvicka, Bob Zvolanek, John Trojacek, Joe Vlk, Alvin Elsik, Frank Houzvicka, Julius Podhradsky, Frank Noska and little Jessica.

Special greetings were relayed from Virginia Blatny, Rose Kopecek, Bertha Malik, Liddie Pavelka, Olga Patak and Vlasta Cerovska.

The minutes and treasurer's report were read correctly and then the correspondence received included a thank you note from Martha Kocian, All - Ways Travel Service, City of Dallas Office of International Affairs, Dallas Alliance, Arthritis Foundation, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and a brochure on the movie entitled "Born on the Fourth of July."

Every year the parade of these beautiful costumes is a popular part of the program. People are very impressed by all the hand work on these kroje (costumes).

We, once again, discussed our November lunch. Bessie Reames and Mary Sebestik will order the fried chicken and pick it up for us. All you need to bring is a covered dish to complement the chicken.

The Christmas Party location will be decided at our October meeting.

Stacy Athas invited all to the Klobase Festival at the Catholic Czech Club and the annual Westfest was announced by Alice Roberts.

My family and I enjoyed a few cool days in colorful New Mexico. It was nice to be in the atmosphere of cool damp weather after the torrid heat wave experienced here in Dallas. We even lit a fire in our room.

As of this writing, I am saddened by the death of one of our dear members, Frances Baleja. I also just heard of the death of Frank Mach, husband of our member, Aggie.

Remember to attend the Czech Day at the Fair on October 16th.

American - Czech Day

The American - Czech Culture Society will sponsor the 48th American - Czech Day at the State Fair of Texas on Sunday, October 16, 1988.

The day will start with kolace and kava social at 8 a.m., then at 9 a.m. with a Catholic Mass (with Czech singing) at the Magnolia Lounge located at First and Grand streets (by the Lagoon).

The program will start at 11 a.m. at the Band Shell (also by the Lagoon) with the singing of the American and Czech national anthems, accompanied by the Dallas Czech Concert Orchestra under the direction of Cyril (Sid) Pokladnik. There will be a promenade of authentic Czech costumes, dancing of the Czech national dance "Ceska Beseda," children's programs, Czech singing, presentation of the American - Czech King and Queen and the longest married American - Czech couple, Czech refreshments, Czech souvenirs, accordian music and much more.

At the Marine Corp Square from 2 to 3 p.m., there will be Sokol exhibition featuring gymnasts from Dallas, Ennis, Fort Worth, Houston, and West; from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., there will be a Czech program on the Texaco Star Stage (at Big Tex).

Heritage Society In Rowena Meets

Czech

The Czech Heritage Society of Runnels, Concho and Tom Green counties met August 15, 1988, at SPJST Lodge 49 Hall in Rowena.

State President Raymond W. Skrabanek of Jacinto City, Texas explained necessary steps to follow in obtaining your family history and records and had books on display as an example.

State Trustee Robert Janak of Beaumont, Texas presented a slide program on Czech history from the earliest times. S.S. Ludmila and Vaclav and Vojtech, the golden period of Charles IV, the Hussite period, the Austrian toleration, age of Czech emigration, domination, Masaryk 's Czechoslovakia.

He also talked about cemeteries and the information obtained there from.

Robert Mikeska, president of our local chapter, also had books and records of his family to illustrate the procedure of obtaining records and history of your heritage.

Distant visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robel and children of Cisco, as well as guests from Tom Green and Concho counties.

The next meeting will be held in November at 2 p.m.; the exact Sunday will be determined later, because it is governed by the availability of the hall.

Lodge 177 Youth Club Lodge 177 Academy Youth Club meets the second Wednesday of the month at the mother lodge in Academy.

The youth club is under the direction of Youth Leader Shryl Wiest. Shryl is married to Jim Wiest and has been youth leader for six months. Shryl loves to play softball and do volunteer work for the nursing home that she works for.

The youth club has recently been to

Schlitterbahn and attended the District 11 trip to Six Flags. They also have become involved with the Highway Clean - up Program. The youth club is now making plans to hold a Halloween Dance in October.

Assistant to Shryl is Anne Tomastik, who has devoted many years to the youth club.

Our hats go off to Shryl, Anne and all the parents for their dedication to our youth.

He studied in Bratislava, Vienna and London. He became the founder and director of an Observatory at Seeberg, and later collaborated the founding of Observatories in Geneva and Luccale.

He studied the aberration and mutation of stars and the movement of the sun. His big work was that he designated the geographical location of Banska Stiavnica, Bratislava, Vacov and Budapest.

The crater named for him is located on the South Pole, near the crater Newton.

He died September 2, 1832, a renowned astronomer, mathematician and scientist.

Ernest Florian Chladni was first a lawyer, then a mathematician and, finally, a scientist. Born November 30, 1756 in Wittemberg, where his father was a professor of law, he always had a love of his native country, Slovakia.

To please his parents he studied law, but loved math. He was a math and

biology lecturer at Wittemberg University and is considered the founder of modern mathematics.

After many years of study he came up with this theory; Planets originate from a mass of material, then after a time break apart, which is caused by either touching, a collision or detonation inside the matter. This theory made Chladni the founder of the modern theory of meteorites.

He was the first to work out a theory of speed for sound in various gases.

His sound pictures are being used the world over, even today. He compiled a study of the burning of meteorites when passing through the atmosphere.

For his work in autonomy and accustics, a crater on the moon was named for him. He died April 13, 1827 in Vratislav, Poland.

SPJST Ornament Contest Guidelines All ornaments must be homemade -No store bought finished ornaments allowed. Ornaments must be youth club member's own creation. No pre assembled kits. Styrofoam balls are allowed.

Ornaments will be judged at the District fall meeting. The DYC will be in charge of securing judges and ribbons. There will be one winner in each age group category; 6 - 9, 10 - 12, 13 - 14 and 15 - 17.

Size of Ornament -- No larger than 3 inches in width, 3 inches in length, 3 inches in height

The four winning ornaments from each district will be sent to the Supreme Lodge via the DYC where they will be placed on, an SPJST State Youth Club Christmas Tree in the Museum.

JUDGING CRITERIA Creative ability and skill -- 45 points Appearance and design 35 points Neatness -- 20 points MATERIALS -- May use any material appropriate for a Christmas ornament WHO MAY ENTER -- Each youth club member may enter (1) ornament.

From The Youth Leaders Lodge No. 6, Cottonwood Dear Members and Friends: The youth club meeting was held Sunday, September 11 with a fair attendance.

For the Westfest booth, the youth, parents and members helped make sausage, kolache, strudles and fruit kolache. We did pretty good. Our lodge youth also had a float in the parade. Although all of us got rained on, we had lots of fun. I want to thank our Lodge 6 members and friends for helping with our float, baking kolache and strudles, and helping work in the booth. We also wish to thank Roney and Karen Kroll for letting us use the trailer/pickup and helping our youth club on the float.

At State YAD we had a first place winner, Kevin Dobecka, in Constructed Items and Keith Hykel won second place in Hobby Kits.

Kevin Dobecka and Tammi Dobecka were among the Top Ten Point winners. The State YAD was well attended.

The youth club went to Six Flags on September 18 and we left from West Bank and Trust parking area at 8:30 a.m.

The District III fall meeting will be October 30 at Lodge No. 25 in Ennis.

Our youth will make and bring Christmas ornaments for a contest; each youngster may enter one homemade ornament and it must be made by that youth, also they will have a volleyball tournament and you must be 16 years old or older and be a Lodge 6 member. In addition there will be a kolache contest. Remember, there will be a lot to do at the District III meeting .

Our youth will start their Christmas project; they will be selling Christmas cards, knives, cookbooks and other items; so put your orders in soon so you get them before Christmas.

Remember, the youth club dues are due. Pay your dues to Treasurer Tammi Dobecka.

Birthday celebrant for September is Ernie Joe Kolar. Keith Hykel will bring a cake for our next Birthday Party.

Letters From The Youth Lodge 88 Youth Plan Activities Dear Brothers and Sisters, The youth club of Lodge 88, in Houston, held their September meeting on Wednesday, September 7, 1988. President Darlene Migl called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Sergeant - at - Arms Kevin Faske led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

We remained standing for a moment of silence for the good of our membe-s.

Secretary Michelle Linney called the roll call of officers; all officers were

present. She then went on with the register. This month we had a very good attendance. There were 32 members present. We also had three guests who are to be new members by the next meeting. They are Lynette Caton, Julie Caton and Christine Porter. These guests were all welcomed by the members. The secretary also read the minutes from our last meeting. There were no corrections or additions.

Treasurer Marlene Migl gave her report for the month of August. She also gave the dues' report. There are still some members who need to pay their dues.

There was no unfinished business.

New business included our "San Antonio Express Trip" for next summer. DYC Marie Stayton said that we might stay for three days and spend the night at a college dorm. We had a lengthy discussion about how we were going to raise the money for our summer trip. We decided that we were going to open the lodge's kitchen, with the permission of the Board of Trustees, on Thursday nights when Bingo is playing in the Ballroom. We will also continue to collect cans at the Bingo games because, on the average, we make about $30 every month from recycled items. Thank you to those youth members who go out during the games to collect these cans. They include Michelle Linney, Cindy Groendes, Marlene Migl and Darlene Migl.

DYC Marie Stayton discussed, with the youth, our outing to Astroworld on September 17th. She also talked about District V Family Day. She told us that the youth were going to sing the "SPJST Fraternity Song" and recite the SPJST Motto at the adult meeting.

We also talked about the ornament contest.

Before the meeting was adjourned, we sang the "SPJST Fraternity Song" and said the SPJST Motto. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 p.m. by President Darlene Migl.

After the meeting we had refreshments. They were brought by Mr. Faske and the Refreshment Committee. Thank you, they were delicious!

Treasurer Jennifer Gold then reported her balance. We made $108 off our auctioned items at the Dime Box Fireman's Picnic.

Our youth club dance is going to be held November 4th; the Texas Unlimited Band will play.

Our trip to the Caldwell Nursing Home will be re - scheduled. Our youth club has been asked to perform at a Dime Box School SPC meeting.

Andy Rife drew door prizes; winners were Jennifer Gold, Wendy Reeves and Sue Ellen Flippin. The meeting was adjourned. I hope to see everyone at the District I meeting.

Dear Vestnik Readers, On September 7, 1988, the Lodge 88 Houston Youth Club members held their meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Our meeting was opened with President Darlene Migl presiding.

We began with the Sergeant - at Arms Kevin Faske leading the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our United States of America. Afterwards, we remained standing for a moment of silence for the good of our members.

Next, Secretary Michelle Linney called the roll call of officers and committee chairmen. We had a perfect attendance of officers: President Darlene Migl, Vice President Crystal Wallace, Secretary Michelle Linney, Treasurer Marlene Migl, Sergeant - at Arms Kevin Faske and Reporter Paul Groendes. All but one of the six committee chairmen were present: Tommie Wallace, Clint Vick, Paul Pflughaupt, Cindy Groendes and Brian Havemann; the Refreshment Chairman Wesley Faske was absent, Wesley still managed to bring his refreshments.

The register was then read. There was a total of 32 youth members present. Also attending were Youth Leaders Barbara Linney and Lou Groendes, DYC Marie Stayton, parents -- Mrs. Sokol, Mrs. Porter, Mrs. Migl, Mr. Clayton, Mrs. Havemann, Mr. Havemann, Mr. Faske, Mr. Gloria and Mrs. Flores.

Also, among the 32 youth attending were 3 new members, Julie Clayton, Lynnette Clayton and Christine Porter. We welcome you into our club, and we encourage you to become active in all activities.

Secretary Michelle Linney read the minutes from our last meeting. The minutes were approved by all as they were read. There was no correspondence.

Then . Treasurer Marlene Migl gave her report. First she announced that everyone who has not paid their $3 dues for the youth year of 1988 - 89 must pay to either Mrs. Linney, Mrs. Groendes or Marlene Migl. She reported that we have made a lot of money that month.

President Darlene Migl turned the meeting over to Vice President Crystal Wallace. Crystal Wallace, as the committee advisor, asked for reports from the committee chairmen on behalf of his/her committee. When each committee chairman came to the front to give their report, Crystal gave them a committee packet which included a letter, job description,

committee chairman survey and a biography form to be used in the scrapbook for 1988 - 89.

Tommie Wallace (fund - raising) gave her report first. She talked about the plans of a dance to help in the San Antonio Express costs in District V. Clint Vick (get well chairman) told us that there have been no sick members that he knows, but if anyone ever gets sick or knows of someone sick to just let him or one of the youth leaders or officers know.

Following Clint Vick's report, Paul Pflughaupt (membership) gave his report that there would be 3 new members joining who were guests that night. He also said his committee will meet soon to get the new members as well as returning members flowing into the club.

Refreshment Committee Chairman Wesley Faske could not be there, although he wished he was able; his brother, Kevin Faske, reported for him that there were definitely refreshments that night.

Cindy Groendes (Scrapbook) reported that things were definitely underway for the best -- yet scrapbook for 1988 - 89, and she also reported the last Scrapbook won first place in District V YAD in July.

Last, Brian Havemann (Social) gave his report about the socials whereas Mrs. Linney would give full detail on the Astroworld day which is a iistrict social. He said he would have a big report next month.

Then DYC Marie Stayton reported on some big items of interest. First of all, she told us about the Christmas ornament contest which more details could be found in the Vestnik. She also gave a run - down on State YAD results. She, along with Barbara Linney, talked about the Astroworld day on Saturday, September 17, 1988 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Last, she discussed the details of our San Antonio Express trip next summer which would involve 3 days. She mainly addressed the parents about the financial aspects of the trip. Part of the expense is going to be earned by selling food in the kitchen Thursday nights during Bingo.

To end the meeting, we all stood to sing the SPJST Fraternity Song, recited the SPJST Motto, and sang Happy Birthday to all September celebrants. This month's birthday members are Cindy Groendes, Jason Michalak, Cole Vick and Erica Weimer. "Happy Birthday" to everyone!

Also, I'd like to end with saying that Darlene Migl, who won second in the -Special Category at State YAD in August, has been chosen to have her picture placed on display at Temple Junior College. Congratulations!

tmoriain Expression Of Sympathy We, the Resolution Committee of our Lodge Hlava Texasu No. 155, Austin, Texas on behalf of our membership, wish to express our deepest sympathy to the family of our departed lodge sister LILLIE KOPECKY HEJL, age 86, who died Wednesday, September 7, 1988. She was born August 23, 1902, in Fayetteville, Texas. A graduate of Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas, she taught school until her marriage in 1922. She had lived in Austin since 1925, and was a lifelong charter member of SPJST Lodge No. 155, Austin.

Sister Hejl was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1973 and an infant son in 1932.

Survivors include two sons, John B. and wife, La Verne Hejl of Austin, Robert D. Hejl of Manchaca, Texas; two daughters, Josephine Legg and husband, Gilbert Legg of San Antonio, Marianna Wood and husband, Larry Wood of Austin; 12 surviving grandchildren with two preceding her in death; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alba Hejl of Katy, Texas and Ludma Kopecky of Austin; and sister - in - law, Edith Kopecky of Rowena, Texas, who she always considered a sister.

As a charter member of our lodge, which was organized in March, 1935, at her family residence, Sister Lillie Hejl expressed the wish that all meetings to observe the anniversary date be held at her home; this tradition was faithfully observed each year. She was a dedicated and active 53 - year member serving as its president several times and appointed Life Honorary Chairman at the Lodge 155's 50th celebration.

There are always the warm hospitality extended to members of the armed forces from nearby camps, also students from our State University, and, the many friends who loved her.

Sister Hejl devoted her entire life to her garden and greenhouses. Her many favorite and exotic plants were admired by many who walked the spacious grounds at her home.

Services were held at 3 p.m.

Saturday at Weed - Corley Funeral Home, with Reverend Larry Shores officiating. Burial was in Austin Memorial Park. Arrangements were

Expression Of Sympathy We, the Resolution Committee of SPJST Lodge No. 94, Wheelock, on behalf of our membership, wish to express our sincere sympathy to the family of our departed sister FRANCES ELIZABETH BLAZEK, age 91, of Bryan, Texas, who died at her home on September 6, 1988.

Funeral services for Sister Blazek were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 8 at the Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. Rev. Bland C. Watson of the Wheelock Shiloh Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Sister Blazek was born in the Smetana community where she resided most of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion Post No. 159 in Bryan and a member of SPJST since 1922.

Sister Blazek will long be

remembered for her devotion to and diligent work with children.

Survivors include two brothers, George T. Blazek of Bryan and Fred 0. Blazek of Edge; a sister, Bessie McDonald of Navasota; and a number of nieces and nephews.

May our departed sister rest in eternal peace.

Marshall - Perkovich Wedding Miss Susan Kay Marshall and Mr. Timothy Michael Perkovich of Seguin were united in marriage Saturday, July 2, 1988 at 3 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Marshall of Weimar and the granddaughter of Mrs. Pearl Hanka and Mr. Stanley Marshall, both of Houston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald B. Perkovich of Smiley.

Mrs. Carol Butler, organist, provided the wedding music.

Selections chosen by the couple were "A Long and Lasting Love," "You and I," "Wedding Song," and "The Lord's Prayer."

The main altar was decorated with arrangements of pink gladiolas, lavender cushions, white spider mums and fern.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a white bridal gown of organza designed with a fitted bodice, sheer yoke and long fitted sleeves. The slim fitted skirt had a wide flounced satin ruffle edged with lace which flowed into an attached chapel length train. The entire gown was embellished with silk Venice lace, iridescent sequins and bridal pearls. To complement her gown she wore a small brimmed bridal hat trimmed with silk Venice lace and pearls with a side upsweep and a two - tiered fingertip veil.

pink roses, white mini - carnations, baby's breath and ivy.

For her matron of honor, the bride chose her sister, Karen Hernandez of Waco. She wore a pink lace over satin tea length gown with matching shoes.

She carried a nosegay of lavender and pink mini - carnations tied with lavender and pink ribbons.

John Perkovich served his brother as best man. He and Shawn Hernandez, nephew of the bride, also served as ushers.

The mother of the bride wore a periwinkle blue street length dress. The mother of the groon also wore a blue dress. Both mothers wore corsages of pink sweetheart roses accented with iridescent pink and white lace ribbons.

The reception was held at Laubach Hall, where guests were served barbecued brisket, sausage, cabbage rolls, and an assortment of vegetables, salads and desserts. Music was provided by the Circle J. Ramblers.

Vicki Wright, sister of the groom, assisted guests at the registration table.

Other members of the house party were Pam Marshall, Ronda Borrayo, Charlote Perkovich, Anne Perkovich and Diane Campbell.

After a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, the couple is residing in Seguin.

V sobotu rano pfijel pfed nak autobus, pfivezli 2enicha, rodiee a nekolik z rodiny pfijeli pro nevesto a zpivali, aby ji rodiee svefili do rukou 2enichovYch a po to ceremonii nasadli nevestini hoste do autobusu a jelo se do Ostroiske Nove Vsi, odkud zenith pochazi.

Obfady svatebni se musi konat nejdfive na tirade. Obfad byl moc dastojny a dojemnY a nektere jsme i plakaly. Po obfade se glo do kostela a byli take cirkevne oddani. Pak se fotografovalo a u2 jsme jeli do kulturniho domu v Chylicich, kde je sal a velika kuchyne a tam zaeala svatebni hostina.

Zahajeni bylo pfipitkem a proslovem bratrance Zdenka ze Slovenska a pak u2 se nesla slepiei polevka s domacimi nudlemi a s jatrovYmi knedlieky, byla vYborna a potom pfiglo hovezi na smetane a knedliky, potom se jen zapragilo, proto2e vgichni hoste byli pofadne hladni. Moc nam to chutnalo. A dal giho jidla jako vdoleekii, dorta, zakusku bylo moc a vYborne. A zase hovove gti sedeli na jedne strane a Hlueane na druhe strane. Jedlo a pilo se dlouho a pak se i taneilo, ani nevim, jak dlouho. Jela jsem drive dome, zavezl mne Vladik, kmotfenec, auterri, ale po pulnoci, kdy2 pfijela nevesta se 2enicheni do Hluku, muzikanti eekali a pod oknem hrali..."Byla noc majova..." a potom pri gli i na dvar, tam zase bylo jidlo a piti a le i taneili, ale nevygla jsem yen, to je pro mlade, jen rano mi povidali, kde jsem byla?

V nedeli se v hostine pokraeovalo a velice moc bylo jidla pfipraveneho.

Mite se zdalo, 2e je vkho zbyteene moc, ale ja tam neporoueim a mladi si udelali tak, jak chteli.

V tu nedeli se jela kamaradka Tonea s Lidug kou podivat v nemocnici na Frantigka, ale jen pies okno a jen jim ruce libal a fikal, le je dobfe, 2e jsou na svatbe. Negla jsem do nemocnice, fikali, 2e tarn nikoho nepusti a ye stfedu jela Tonea do nemocnice, u2 ji ho neukazali a za chvili vygla oktfovatelka, ze pan doktor delal vge, co bylo moine, aby ho zachranil a neglo to... umiel... Je u2 na veenosti, ma pokoj, at' odpoeiva v pokoji.

Lidugka to pfijela hned oznamit, 2e tatinek umiel a za chvili jsem zase ja jela dclOstroiske Nove Vsi, kde bydli, abych byla s TonCou a zitstala jsem tam pies noc. Sena se u is celd rodina, poradili se, jak se udela pohfeb a byl v sobotu. To byl velikY pohfeb, to bylo lidi, kveta a kytic a vkchno

nasvedeovalo tomu, jak valenY byl Frantikk Karla. VS'echny ty proslovy u hrobu svedeily o torn, 2e nezikne pracoval jak v JZD, tak i v obci jako duchodce, 700 hodin odpracoval zadarmo na kostele a v lekarne, pfi apravach v obci a tak dale a podobne.

Take byl pohostinnY, veselY a hlede'l s ka2dYm vyjit pfatelsky. Znam se s nimi 55 roku a rada jsem k nim jezdila.

Tarn na veenosti u2 ho nic neboli a kde ma pokoj v srdci, ktere bylo pfieinou jeho nahleho odchodu.

Hodne pracoval a nyni ma od vkho pokoj. Mel jen 74 rokil a musel odejit.

To by i nas melo dontitit k zamygleni, jak konec nas mule piekvapit a zda jsme pripraveni na veenost. Cloy& jeden den onemocni a ani mOderni lekafska Veda mu nepornale, kdy2 musi odejit...

V sobotu rano nadherne slunieko svitilo a byl to krasnY den pro pfivitani deti do spoleenosti. Na tvrzi opravovali sal asi pillroku a tak se nahromadilo deti, 2e museli delat pfivitani tfikrat.

Slavnost byla dustojna, pofad pane pfipraveriy deli pfednesly basnieky, hudba hrala, pak byla kulturni zazplvala se pisen, vkchno bylo ure'eno k tomu, aby se maly obeanek zafadil do tohoto sveta. To si opravdu day zale2et, aby i tato slavnost byla dojemna...

No a po obede jsme jeli se §vagrovou na pohfeb Franti§ka Kani a vezl nas syn s autem, mel take rad strYeka Katiu, dobfe si rozumeli, jeli jsme se s nim rozloueit. Odjeli po pohfebe dome a ja jsem zastala na velike hostine, co udelali Franti g kovi na rozloueenou.

Maji moc rodiny po celern Ceskoslovensku, v gichni pfijeli vzdat zemfelemu posledni poctu a doprovodit ho na posledni ceste.

Za kmotfenkou jsem byla nekolikrat, ma nohu v sadfe, odvapiluje si ji kost, nechtela jit ani na svatbu, neurni po berlich chodit a ma strach, 2e spadne, u2 spadla a ted' se boil.

Sestru s rodinou jsem navgtivila, tetieku, tatinkovu sestru, ma 83 roku a to vite, 2e kdy2 je elovek na nav§teve ye stare vlasti, tak se potka s rovnicemi a rovniky, znamy a pfatele pfijdou a ten eas utika tak rychle a kaldY ma nejakYL' problem, nejake starosti, u2 ei nemoc, smrt anebo nesoulad v rodine. To se v2dy stane, kdy2 je vice lidi pohromade, kalclY ma svaj nazor a chce jej uplatnit bez ohledu na ostatni lidi. Kahly 'name svaj problem a nekolikrat se stane neshoda i po 39 letech manielstvi. Na 93 roku dobfe vypada a dcery se o ni velice staraji, vnuk je Kai' a jeho 2ena oktfovatelka. Mnozi star gi lide jsou na torn hate, zvlake kdyi maji Alzheimerovu nemoc.

Hlavni 'nest° Slovenska je velice zbudovane, panelaky se stavi na vkchny strany. Most pies Dunaj do Petrlalky je krasnY a Petr2alku by nikdo nepoznal, kdo tarn nebyl poslednich 40 let. Zbudovalo se hodne nejen kolem Bratislavy, ale i po celem Slovensku se buduje. Do Biskupic teee ropa z Ruska a tak jsou tam postaveny nove rafinerie a panelaky kolem doclavaji mestu mohutny dojem a pak je postavena i leeebna na tuberkulosu.
