Your editor requested all Supreme Lodge officers , directors and standing committees to try to get their reports into our hands by May 9, 10 or 11 because, if they all came in Thursday, May 12 (the usual deadline), it would be impossible to get them all set, and we wish to thank all of them for their wonderful cooperation; we received them (reports) by Wednesday noon.

Your editor encourages members, especially delegates, to carefully read the by - laws and changes to them:, these are arranged as follows: The left column (in 2 - column arrangement) has the by - law (article and subsection) as they are now and the right column has the recommended change (article and subsection). Caution! To conserve space (which is very limited in this issue) the new and old article numbers may not appear exactly opposite each other.

After reading and counting these typed reports of officers and committees, we may have to print some in the next issue because there are some letters plus other material that will have to go into this issue because of future dates in their letters; those in past tense will probably be delayed for the time being.

The pre - convention reports- begin with the SPJST By - Law Committee on page 3 because of their importance to our Society.

We will add what we think is necessary after we see what the Vestnik looks like when we get to page 9 or 10.

Delegates save this issue (and the next if we have to print some reports in it) so that you can refer to reports as you need to and when you have ample time to concentrate on your reading!

The editor also wishes to add where the old subsection has a change in the first few lines and the rest of the subsection is rather lengthy, we printed only enough to show the old and left the rest unprinted; you can see why.

The new recommended changes are all printed in their entirety.

Members, please check the calendar for dates as to what is happening at lodges this one time because of the large amount of letters, etc. that must be delayed for this May 18th Pre Convention issue. Thanks for your cooperation and continue writing! ***

There are some letters, youth letters, SYD reports, Expressions of Sympathy and features that had to be delayed; the SPJST By - law Article 36(a) states that this issue is expressly used for Pre - Convention Reports. *** There has been quite an extraordinary amount of time, conversation and writing taken up and even, yes, money consumed discussing the issue concerning the position of editor, much of the same by individuals who may know very little about the entire matter of editing, composing and publishing, so allow your editor to make some pertinent remarks about the subject with which he has been involved directly for now over 19 years. There

will be a more complete report than this prior to the convention.

The 1932 SPJST Convention awarded the Vestnik printing contract to the Cechoslovak Publishing Company (publishers of the West News) in West, Texas, and Brother Frank Moucka was elected editor and moved to West from Ennis to be in the city of the contract. That was the case almost continually until the 1980 Convention when the contract was awarded to Stillhouse Hollow Publishing Company in Temple - Belton and Article 36(b) was added to the By - laws. Article 36(b) (b) If the contract is awarded to a publisher in another city. the moving expenses of the editor will be borne by the Society.

Since this editor did not wish to move, again, (on account of changing his son's education) as was the case in 1968 (when elected editor) moving from Houston to West, Brother Morris informed me that the Supreme Lodge would not pay for the cost of traveling to Temple once a week, so yours truly did that for four years at personal expense, compiling the Vestnik on Fridays traveling a distance of 110 miles round trip fifty plus times a year.

In 1984 the contract was moved to Hill County Press, Inc. in Hillboro, Texas, seventeen miles north of West and is there at the present time, your editor making the trip each Friday, many times also Thursday and, if necessary Saturday.

It would be nice to have the editor at the SL Headquarters in a certain sense, however, many delegates and members can tell anyone that the telephone at the editor's office is answered every week day even before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m. any day including Saturdays and Sundays.

THIS IN NOT AN 8 to 5 JOB! Remember, in the newspaper, radio and television business, there are no holidays observed as such; there may be "skeleton" or smaller crews working, but the work continually goes on!

Supreme Lodge Officers Leshikar and Mikeska especially stressed to the Publication Committee members the importance of them reviewing resumes of anyone sent to the committee secretary pertaining to the office of the editor as described in SPJST Articles 94, 95 and 96. ***

Leo Netek Reunion The Leo Netek reunion will be Saturday, June. 25, 1988 at the Moravian Hall on Kostoryz Road, Corpus Christi, Texas. Registration at 3 p.m.; dinner served in evening, $3.50 per plate. Family members who have received an invitation, please forward information as soon as possible; not later than May 25th. Requested information is very important so the committee will have a better idea how much food to prepare, etc. Also bring games and other items for children to play with. 1988 Proposed Changes In SPJST By Laws [Editor's Note: We are printing only the articles and/or subsections thereof where there are changes to those articles and/or subsections. PLEASE TAKE NOTE!)

Recommended Changes To SPJST By-Laws By The By-Law Committee SPJST Members and Delegates: There seems to be some discrepancy in relation to a proposal submitted to the By - law Committee by the Finance Committee which was printed in the May 4, 1988 issue of the Vestnik. According to our by - laws, specifically Article 20(e), all proposals are to be sent to the Vestnik for publication.

There was a joint meeting between the two committees and no action was taken on the proposal dealing with restructuring of the Home Office. Further proposals were made on April 13, 1988 by the Finance Committee which was also printed in the May 4, 1988 issue. There are no differences between the two proposals except that dealing with the office of the president. The Finance Committee did not retract any of the proposals as stated in the May 11, 1988 issue. **

Dear SPJST Members: After several lengthy committee meetings to, study and discuss proposed changes to the SPJST By - laws, the By - law Committee has made the following recommendations. Please understand that all proposals were not acted upon and others were modified to meet the needs of our Society. Much thought and deliberation was placed on every major proposal and we'feel that those changes, which we recommend, are to the best interest of our Society as it functions in our present day and time.

Please let your thoughts and desires be known to your respective delegates to the convention as to how you would like for them to vote on the various issues. If you do not, then you really have no room to complain if changes are made that you do not agree with or if no change is made where you feel it is necessary.

You should study the proposals carefully before making your decision or forming an opinion. Just remember, our SPJST Society, its function and purpose, should be the top priority.

The By -law Committee feels that the following recommendations should be considered very carefully and appropriate action should be taken. We feel that these are not directly related to by -laws, but are of great importance as far as the direction which our Society is to take.

1) Have an office available for our editor in the Home Office.

2) All officers should continually notify our editor of noteworthy items.

3) In the Finance Committee's bi - annual meeting, its members should confer with the Supreme Lodge in investigating the possibility of making money available for the restoration of the Society's original charter lodges and SPJST cemeteries.

4) The singing of the National Anthem should be included in the convention progr am.

5) Consider the implementing o a retirement age Supreme Lodge.

6) Establish a committee to investigate the purchase of land to build an SPJST recreational facility to be used by all of its members.

7) Promote an annual Czechfest in Temple.

8) The directors, along with the Supreme Lodge officers, insure that all by laws are complied with on a regular basis.

9) An all out effort to release information about the Society should be made to local media in all localities.

10) Continue working with all other fraternals to maintain our tax exempt status.

11) Supreme Lodge members and employees should not be allowed to compete in the sales contests of the Society.

12) The Supreme Lodge should reimburse hosting entities for expenses incurred for pre - convention expenses.

13) In the selection of qualified delegates to the convention, consideration should be given for voluntary service and involvement in the local lodge.

14) Any candidate seeking an office in the Supreme Lodge should announce his candidacy in the Vestnik at least 30 days prior to the convention.

ARTICLE 10.

All members of the SupremeLodge, editor and committee members may par ticipate in the discussions at the convendon, but they do not have the right to make motions, vote or nominate unless they are delegates. Effective immediately.

ARTICLE 12. (i) Following the elections of the Su preme Lodge officers and editor in the convention the delegates of the respective districts will convene in separate district meetings. The purpose of these meetings will be to nominate and elect the district director and substitute, member of the committee on By-laws and substitute. member on the Insurance Committee and substitute, member on the Publication Committee and substitute and a member of the Finance Committee and substitute.

Each delegate will vote in accordance with Article 4 (a•4) of the by-laws.

All members of the Supreme Lodge, the editor and members of standing committees may also attend and may participate in the discussions, but they do not have the right to vote or to nominate unless they are delegates. Effective immediately.

ARTICLE 37. President

An employee of the Supreme Lodge cannot serve on a standing committee. Effective immediately.

President's Pre-Convention Report

Howard Leshikar May 1988 Dear Members: As we look forward to the opening of our XXVth Convention in Temple, let us with pride, assess our achievements and with vision chart a program that will carry our Society into the 21st Century.

First, every member of our Society can reflect with pride on the achievements of the SPJST. We have an outstanding system of local lodges

statewide that offers a wide variety of activities for members and families in their community. Also, at the district and state level, activities for adults and youths promote fraternalism between members and lodges.

Our Society proudly offers a sound program of financial benefits through insurance plans that meet the needs of each member, a mortgage loan program for members and scholarships for young adults.

The success of these programs of the SPJST depend on the member participation in their local lodge activities. Perhaps our greatest achievement in the last few years has been the trend toward increased member involvement and enthusiasm in all areas.

As a result, we have seen gains in all areas of the operation of our Society.

Home Office personnel, sales representatives, youth leaders, lodge officers and members working together, helped generate this enthusiasm and the consequential growth of strength we are experiencing. We feel that many new programs were implemented during the last four years which will provide the Society with a good return in both the Insurance and Fraternal area.

Certainly, the biggest challenge faced by our Society was encountered when the State Legislature, in its historic revision of the Fraternal Insurance Codes, threatened the revocation of our tax exemption. The Officers and Director, aided by many members in the lodges, responded with

a coordinated plan which helped keep our tax exempt status. Again, our success depended on the combined effort of many working for the good of the whole.

We have begun to focus on revitalization of lodges which need help in bringing our programs to their members. Through concentration on activities and reorganization, we hope to better serve those members.

Recently, Bomarton Lodge 77 merged with Seymour Lodge 73 and Praha Lodge 11 merged with Engle Lodge 21.

It is hoped that members will benefit from this restructuring.

Since the last convention, our youth program has greatly expanded. In an effort to bring these benefits to more members, 6 (six) new Youth Clubs have been formed, while others have sought, and received help in their revitalization.

As we build for the 21st Century, we must continue to enlist and reward the efforts of the local lodge, officer, member and parent who sacrifice to work with our local youth. Our District Youth Counselors and our State Youth Director must be commended for providing quality leadership training for our youth. This investment of time and energy will pay rich dividends in the future vitality of this Society.

During this term as your President, my family and I have been privileged to attend numerous functions of all types: meetings, anniversaries, fund raisers, camps, Youth Achievement Days, seminars, etc. We have seen first - hand the many hours of work that have gone into these activities. When we have been in your midst, we have felt the warmth of your devotion to this Society. We want to commend you for your contribution of time and effort to your lodges and the programs of the SPJST. Your support of the various programs and activities has been an inspiration to us as we have met with you.

At this, our XXVth Convention, you will be making many decisions which will shape our organization and move our Society into the 21st Century. There are many proposals which will enhance our existing fraternal programs for the benefit of all members. As a Fraternal Society, we should seize the opportunity to strengthen our fraternal heritage.

Therefore, I urge you ,to adopt those proposals which will preserve the democratic aspect of our Society and provide the membership with benefits that will bind us closely together. In short, you should preserve your right to elect all the officials who will be serving you.

It has been my pleasure to serve as your President. I am proud of the SPJST and I hope I can continue to serve the Society in this capacity.

Although we are moving toward desirable goals, there is much to be done; therefore, I would like to ask for your support for another term of office. Together - with hard work, with openess to constructive criticism, with love of our fraternal heritage -we can launch a new, more vigorous SPJST into the 21st Century. Pre-Convention Report Of The Vice President

Bernard Gebala This report is submitted in accordance with Article 33(b) 6. of the 1984 SPJST By - laws.

Article 38(b) states the Vice President is in charge of the Insurance Department and has direct control of the state field managers and local sales representatives. This report will address this function within the SPJST for the past four years.

The Insurance Department has been revamped to better serve our local lodge sales representatives and the general membership. New products and procedures have been incorporated into our activity so that we can adapt to the ever - changing trends (and laws) that govern the fraternal benefit system. We realize that to resist change is not fair to our membership, and we must be ready to accept all challenges so our Society can remain viable and solvent. This we have done.

The SPJST has been blessed with an outstanding, talented staff in the Insurance Department. Each one of them is dedicated to giving professional, personal service to our membership, and they take pride in affording this service. I know that any member or sales representative who has called the Home Office will attest to this fact. Our in - house insurance staff currently includes: Secretary to the Vice President - Kathy Fritz, Underwriter Ruth Hanusch, Certificate Issue - Doris Tyroch, IncL ming Certificate Processing/Annuity Technician - Jim Wiesi and Certificate Service - Cynthia Bravenec. Our field staff is led by State Field Manager Gene McBride along with State Field Lepresentatives Helen Hegwood and Je-,,me Hlavaty. Three of these people are only in their mid twenties which means SPJST has a strong nucleus for years to come in the insurance field.

I would now like to review with you some highlights of the past few years.

Each month, in the Vestnik, you are made aware of current production figures so it would serve no purpose to repeat those here. All of us are extremely proud of what we have accomplished, and the reports speak for themselves.

When we introduced the SPJST Flexible Protector Plan in January of 1986, this marked a tremendous achievement in our portfolio of insurance products. This plan is SPJST's version of universal life which is an interest sensitive product that currently carries a yield of 9 percent.

Wednesday, May 18, 1988—VESTMR/7 from "scratch." It was a challenge that we accepted because we wanted to make available to our members a "state of the art" product. We researched what other fraternal societies and insurance companies were doing in this area. We found that approximately forty (40) percent of all life insurance written was universal life. We had to get involved or we would have been left behind by the more progressive fraternal societies.

We also knew that we would be the first fraternal to attempt to market a universal life product with an all volunteer sales force. To do this, we had to develop procedures, lesson plans, and a system for proposals that would be easy to understand and incorporate within our system. And guess what? We did it. I cannot say enough for the sales representatives who adapted to change, studied this new product, mastered it, and then broke all sales' records in making it available to our membership.

I must add here the importance of a highly skilled Home Office staff; they were the catalyst that held it all together. Universal Life production within the SPJST is about forty (40) percent of our business as it is within the entire insurance industry. The yield is currently 9 percent (which is outstanding), and this is possible through the achievements of our Investments Department.

February 1984, we introduced our SPJST Annuity Program. This program has also been a tremendous success. As of December 31, 1988, we have approximately ten million dollars in annuity deposits. Again, I cannot give enough credit to our sales representatives for making this benefit available to our membership. Many investors have become disillusioned with IRAs and annuities because of TRA 86. Even with the new tax laws, annuities and IRAs are still excellent savings' vehicles.

Both the Universal Life and Annuity programs are "interest sensitive." This means that the yield can be adjusted to the ct ..- la financial posture of our society. Wise investing has afforded the SPJST the luxury of paying outstanding yields on these products in the past, and if the same good planning and judgment are used in the future, I see no reason why we cannot maintain these same advantageous yields.

In 1984, we initiated our SPJST Joint Decreasing Term Program. This plan was developed primarily for our "working couples" who must face the monthly obligation of a mortgage payment. The loss of either spouse's income would place a strain on the remaining partner to continue making those house payments. This plan has also been quite successful.

We are now in the process of completing conversion of all of our insurance plans to the 1980 CSO tables. In conjunction with this project, we are preparing an easy - to understand rate book for our sales force. This project has been quite time - consuming. All people involved with this project at the Home Office have worked with this project in addition to also performing their daily tasks so we can get the rate books to the sales representatives as soon as possible. Vie feel that once this project is completed, we will have an outstanding reference guide containing a very diversified portfolio of insurance products that are "second to none."

The SPJST now has a direct computer and access line with the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) in Boston, Massachusetts. This gives our

underwriter immediate access to records that are necessary to rate prospective clients. This project was completed in March and is now a very valuable tool to prevent fraudulent applications. This computer hook. - up also accepts incoming information on a 24 - hour basis from our contract laboratory in Shawnee, Kansas which does our blood and urine testing and also receives data from our reinsurance company in Dallas.

We have also redesigned our certificate forms to allow for computer printing of all schedule pages within the certificates.

Programs are being prepared to furnish proposal sheets to our prospective members on all of our products which will be of tremendous benefit to our sales representatives.

We have made giant strides the past four years, and we are looking forward to the challenges of future refinement and now products for all of our members to have available to them.

We are one of a very few fraternal societies still operating exclusively with an "all volunteer sales force." Most new products today in the insurance market place are becoming more complex and difficult to fully understand. As a result, our job then becomes a little more complicated in that we, in addition to developing the plan, have also to establish ways and procedures that the SPJST volunteer sales force can use to present these products to current and prospective members. I feel we have responded well to this challenge, and I also think we can continue to do this if the sales representatives attend scheduled training sessions and call us when they need help. Remember, no question is stupid. The sales representatives who attend the seminars regularly and ask questions seem to be our more productive agents. Every sales representative the SPJST has in its field force is important because our growth, future successes and expenditures are geared to their production. I want to thank all of you for your efforts. If it were not for you, we certainly would not be in the enviable position we are in today.

In conclusion, I want to thank my colleagues who have contributed to the many SPJST successes. I have, in this report, addressed only the highlights of what I feel the Insurance Department has contributed to our Society and its growth and enviable position among other fraternal benefit societies; however, the SPJST is a huge endeavor. There are many facets that are necessary to make it all work as one. One area cannot work without the cooperation of the others. Fraternal benefits to our members are essential, as are good investments, good service to our members and good viable products. All of us, together, can contribute and insure an even better SPJST. Let's all step forward with a positive attitude and "get with it."

Dear Delegates and Members: As prescribed in our By - laws, I submit to you for your consideration my pre - convention report covering the past four years of activities. The past five terms have given me the opportunity to meet- and get to know many fine and dedicated members. I appreciate the many pleasant associations and friendships which make attendance at your membership functions a pleasure. I am impressed with the large number of members in the SPJST who give so generously of their time and talents.

STRENGTHENING THE SPJST. History will more than likely recognize the past four years as the era of "Strengthening the SPJST." The addition of modern life products and services has strengthened our position in the insurance industry. We now have the modern up - to - date policies that our members expect, need, and deserve.

We have seen increased enthusiasm and commitment to improve fraternal service at the Supreme Lodge and the local lodge levels. The Supreme Lodge has recommended increasing refunds to lodges to fund local programs.

There has clearly been a strengthening of our efforts to grow in the area of fraternal service as well as the area of life products. I think that the past four years have placed us in an enviable position and that we will see a well rounded growth in our financial services and our fraternal services. Our fraternal services help our sales program and our sales programs help our fraternal services.

INVESTMENT RESULTS. As your investment manager, I am pleased to report that our investment portfolio performed well the past four years.

Fortunately, at the time of the stock market crash, the amount invested in common stocks was insignificant. At that time, we had only about 1/2 of 1 percent of our assets in industrial and miscellaneous common stocks and only about 8/10 of 1 percent in public utility common stocks.

The addition of interest sensitive products has necessitated the restructuring of our portfolio of fixed assets to better match the nature of interest sensitive liabilities. We have shortened the maturity on our bond

portfolio to allow us to be better able to respond to increases in general interest rates.

The net yield on assets was 9.33 percent, up from 8.73 percent four years ago.

We expect to continue to experience economic changes. Therefore, we will continue to frequently review our investment philosophy and follow conservative investment policies. We will continue to try to realize the best possible yields on our investments without compromising the safety of your funds. I subscribe to various investment rating and advisory services and use our computer to frequently analyze our investments and stay abreast of economic changes.

REAL ESTATE LOAN DEPARTMENT. Over one - half of our assets are invested in loans to members. Our loan department provides a valuable benefit to our members for purchases of property and improvement loans. We plan to continue this service as it has proven to be an excellent method of investing a substantial portion of our funds.

At year - end, we had over $30.9 million invested in 1,056 real estate mortgages.

Although Texas' economic problems have increased the number of our foreclosures, we have not had the types of problems other lenders have experienced because of the quality of loans we make. We have had 12 foreclosure in the 41/2 years since January 1, 1984. However, based on over 1,000 loans on our books, this translates to an annual foreclosure percentage of about 1/4 of 1 percent per year.

FORECLOSED/CONVEYED REAL ESTATE. The following is a report of real estate loans foreclosed during the four - year period from 1 - 1 - 84 through 12 - 31 - 87. During this period, our state witnessed severe economic problems, especially in those areas where the economy relied heavily on oil. Some of our members lost their jobs and had difficulty in meeting their loan payments and some abandoned their properties. We saw significant decrease in real estate values varying in different areas of the state. We feel that our system has worked well since we have not experienced any degree of problems other lenders have had.

Foreclosed/Conveyed Real Estate Sold or Under Contract.

1. REL #10122; Ranch land in Runnels County, sold at Trustee Sale on March 3, 1987 for $63,000 representing return of all principal and $7,757.90 of interest.

2. REO #162; Residence in Montgomery County, Texas foreclosed May 7, 1985. Book value at sale $33,058.08. Sold for $21,184.63.

Loss $11,873.45.

3. REO #163; Lodge Building in Longview, Gregg County, conveyed to Society January 1, 1987. Principal balance of loan at time of conveyance was $287,160.36. A new program was

(Since December 31, 1987, two properties were foreclosed in Burleson County with a current aggregate book value of $68,331.42. Some loss is anticipated on these properties. One residence was foreclosed in Ellis County, Texas with a current book value of $105,388.07. No loss is anticipated. One residence was foreclosed in Austin County with a current book value of $87,932.93. No loss is anticipated. All of the properties are listed for sale.)

With changing times and values, we are continuously adjusting our requirements and appraisal procedures to stay abreast of the times.

GENERAL CORPORATE ADMINISTRATION. When the Secretary's and Treasurer's departments were combined in 1972, the general administrative duties consumed very little time and effort in relation to investments, loans and policy service. Due to the increased complexities and requirements, general management duties of the corporation now consume more of my time and effort than my other duties. Every effort is made to handle the corporation's business affairs in a timely and efficient manner.

CLAIMS AND POLICY SERVICE. During the period covered by this report, death has claimed 1,672 of our members. We have paid to their beneficiaries near $2.9 million. We continue to give top priority to payment of death claims in our work scheduling. When a family suffers the loss of a loved one, we strive to provide prompt, efficient handling of their claim.

We remind ourselves that service to our members is our basic function in the Home Office. As we grow and train our staff to service new policies, our prime goal is to provide prompt, courteous and efficient service.

AUDITS. We recently received the audit report from the State Board of Insurance covering the period from January 1, 1983 to December 31, 1986.

The examination report was reviewed and accepted by the Supreme Lodge in its April meeting. Procedural items needing correction have been corrected. A copy of the report has been furnished to each lodge.

The State Board report did not include year 1987; however, an outside audit was unanimously approved by the Supreme Lodge and is currently in progress. The report should be ready

before the Convention convenes. The audit will enable the Society to save a substantial amount of money on premiums for our fidelity bond and information from the auditors should be helpful in our ongoing effort to use the best procedures in managing the Society's, affairs.

IN CONCLUSION. We have recently faced, and accomplished many changes which have made the SPJST modern and more efficient with a broader range of products. We are encouraged that this has been done while preserving our lodge system and democratic structure of the SPJST. A major strength of our organization is the fact that you through our lodge system control the destiny of the SPJST and unlike many organizations you have a voice in our future.

There are numerous challenges that demand our attention. They include better response to legislative attacks, more reasonable liquor liability premiums for lodges, increased premium refunds to lodges, state of the art products, maintaining interest of our younger members, preserving our heritage and good communication at all levels. We have the talent and dedicated members to keep our Society progressing and strong.

It has been a pleasure to work with the Supreme Lodge Officers and Directors. They are devoted to the SPJST and take their positions seriously, I thank the employees in my department for their untiring efforts; Irma Klinkovsky, Ann Paruzinski, Magdalen Jez White, Lanita Anglin, Ike Steffek, Elaine Mogavero and especially to my capable assistant, Dorothy Tomasek.

Financial Statement: Below you will find a financial statement for 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. This statement provides you with a four - year comparison of our financial condition. Our assets have increased approximately 20 million dollars within the past four years. We have also seen our liabilities increase approximately 16 million over the same period. The difference between assets and liabilities gives us the unassigned funds or surplus. These unassigned funds now amount to 13 million dollars and have increased over 4 million dollars. Every life insurance company needs surplus. This item must not be construed as cash money.

Our delegates must be made aware that this surplus was attained by certificates that were issued under the American Experience Table, 1941 CSO Table and 1958 CSO Table. These certificates guaranteed the certificate holder 3 to 3 1/2 percent. You can see that while the interest rate amounted to 16 percent in 1983 - 1984, our Society showed large profits on this group of business. Our new products now guarantee from 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent which are issued on the 1980 CSO Table. Surplus also is increased by management making good investment decisions. Our investments continue to show good profits. The ratio on our net investments amounted to 9.33 percent in 1987. Earnings on these assets make it possible to support various youth programs, the scholarship programs, refund to lodges and premium refund to members. We have seen our total income grow from approximately 4 million dollars in 1983 to 11 million in 1987. My financial statement follows.

DIRECT BILL In 1984, I predicted that approximately 4 years would be required to complete all lodges to direct bill. As of this report, we now have 76 lodges with a certificate count of 40,728 completed. This accounts for 75 percent of our certificate holders and 62 percent of our lodges. depends directly on our sales representatives. All lodges must review their growth pattern so that their membership may set goals and objectives for the future.

State Examination/Independent Audit The State Board of Insurance Audit for years 1983 through 1986 has been completed and the official examination report has been received.

This report was reviewed and accepted by the Supreme Lodge SPJST during its April quarterly meeting. I am pleased to report that no discrepancies of any magnitude were found. Copies

of this report have been mailed to all lodges. Our independent audit is being conducted by Peat, Marwick, Main and Company. This audit began on April 18, 1988 and will finish by May 13, 1988. The final report will be available by June 10, 1988. Cost for both audits will amount to approximately $35,000.00.

Premium Refund/ Paid-Up Additions The XXIV Convention authorized each member the opportunity to purchase additional paid - up life insurance in lieu of receiving a premium refund check. This program was instituted in January, 1986.

Approximately 75 percent of our certificate holders opted for this paid up addition program. The Home Office was able to reinvest $825,000.00 of cash instead of forwarding this amount to our certificate holders. This amount purchased over 1.5 million dollars of insurance in a two -- year period. The premium refund rate paid in 1986 and 1987 was 3 percent of the mid - terminal reserve and will remain 3 percent in 1988.

All of my detailed work would not have been possible without talented employees. I express my gratitude to Dorothy Stuchly, Debbie Dohnalik, Sue Jaramillo and my assistant, Linda Johnson. I certainly appreciate the fine cooperation of the Supreme Lodge Officers and Directors.

In conclusion, I have strived to project an image of our Society not only by incorporating effective accounting procedures but my attitude to the general membership in a way that everyone is proud of being a member of the SPJST. Sidney Kacir Dear Delegates and Members: I respectfully submit a short resume of legal services rendered to the Society, local lodges, members, borrowers from the SPJST, and all parties dealing with the SPJST for the period beginning with January 1, 1985.

Since the SPJST is a fraternal life insurance society, its foundation is the insurance, membership, member benefits, and lodge system. Without any one of these it cannot function as a fraternal benevolent society. As a fraternal organization, it enjoys a number of special privileges we must all be zealous to preserve and protect.

The SPJST is able to provide or assist its members in providing many benefits such as the lodges, the district meetings, the youth programs, the adult programs, educational scholarships, rest homes, and many other charitable benefits because of the special privileges we enjoy under State and Federal law.

We do want to refresh your recollection on the extensive revisions that were made last year to Chapter 10 of the Insurance Code. This is the chapter of the Insurance code that the SPJST and other fraternal benefit societies operate under -- it is extremely important to our continued existence and prosperity. During the last session of the legislature, for the first time in over 35 years, the State of Texas Insurance Department and others proposed extensive revisions to Chapter 10. This chapter contains 45 articles and the proposed legislation directly concerned 13 articles.

When we first learned that the State was calling for extensive revisions to Chapter 10, the attorneys for almost all of the Texas Fraternal Benefit Societies that are members of the Texas. Fraternal Congress and various attorneys for the National Fraternal Congress, met with representatives of the Insurance Department in Austin.

When we learned the seriousness of the task, we expressed our concern and

the State Department of Insurance requested that a committee of attorneys be formed to present the fraternal societies' position and work on the legislative drafts. I was privileged to be one of the members on this committee and I spent numerous hours on this work on. an emergency basis.

After nine drafts of revisions and with the final draft containing 17 pages, legislation was arrived at under which we feel fraternal societies such as SPJST can continue to prosper. The proposals were extensively coordinated with the members of the Supreme Lodge, the actuary, and other interested parties. The basic ideas of being a democratic Society with a representative form of government, with the control of the Society being in its members operating under a lodge system, and offering insurance and other benefits to its members, were carried forward in the legislation.

We are glad that the final legislation was something that we can go "arm in arm" with the Insurance Department.

It was also important at the last session of the legislature for the officers, directors, and members to make the facts known concerning the proposed state sales tax on insurance premiums. This issue was also satisfactorily resolved.

The efforts continue by some members of the United States Congress and by the IRS at the federal level to revise Section 501 (c)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code . This is the basic section of the federal law that grants the Society its exemption from federal income taxes. It is very important that we stay abreast of, have input, and make the facts known in any matters concerning this vital section of federal law.

The Society has over 31 million of its 54 million in assets invested in real estate loans. The security varies from members' homes in the city and rural areas, from member - operated farms and ranches, to selective member operated commercial real estate.

The legal advisor carefully examines all evidences of title and matters that affect the title. Most of these instruments are lengthy and require a great amount of patient time. Every loan requires much attention, correspondence and time. Since our Society makes a variety of loans in many different areas of the State, there are many matters to tend to. If title is acceptable, the legal advisor must then prepare all loan instruments and handle the closing of the loan.

Since we have most of the Society's assets invested in mortgage loans, it is to be expected that we will have some borrowers who do not make their payments and it becomes necessary to foreclose our lien, some borrowers who file for bankruptcy and some borrowers who will be sued over property taxes. We are fortunate that we have only had a few foreclosures.

We do have bankruptcies that affect SPJST in the federal courts that are currently pending in the northern, western and southern districts of Texas. The bankruptcy chapters involved are Chapters, 7, 11, 12 and 13. Fortunately the number of bankruptcy filings and number of tax suits are decreasing. The members who obtain these real estate loans pay for the expenses involved and this reduces the cost of legal service and other related costs to the Society. The trend for real estate loans continues upward and such loans have proved to be good investments for the Society and good for its members. At the end of 1983 there were approximately 23 million

10/VESTNiK—Wednesday, May 18, 1988 invested in 1,063 real estate loans and this had increased at the end of 1987 to approximately 31 million invested in real estate loans. In the year 1987 in excess of 2.9 million dollars interest income was received by the Society from mortgage loans.

We put forth our best efforts to settle disputed matters on a reasonable basis so that the Society would not be involved in needless litigation. It frequently takes more time and effort to work out a settlement than it would take to litigate a matter, but it is felt that it is in the best interest of the Society to try to settle disputed matters where this can be done fairly to all concerned.

I have consulted with the officers and directors of the Supreme Lodge on a daily basis and I have given written opinions regarding a multitude of legal questions ranging from interpretations of By - laws, State and Federal laws to State and Federal rules and regulations on our life insurance contracts, beneficiary designations, payment of certificate proceeds, and preparing or approving documents in the sale of mineral and/or royalty reservations, subordination agreements relative to oil, gas and mineral leases, eminent domain proceedings, easements and partial releases, real estate loans and many other contracts. I have also consulted with, reviewed rules and regulations, advised and frequently given written opinions to local lodges on fraternal lodge - related matters and have tried to answer all inquiries from our members.

I have attended all quarterly and special meetings of the Supreme Lodge and Officers' meetings, participated in workshops for the local lodge officers, met with the By - law Committee and also attended meetings of other standing committees when requested.

Your Legal Advisor has a legal assistant, legal secretary, and various part - time help, all of whose salary and overhead is paid for by the attorney. These parties have greatly assisted me in doing the necessary work and I thank them for such assistance. At all times, I provide one legal assistant or one legal secretary who devotes all of her time to SPJST work. One attorney cannot do all of the work that is required. Though I frequently call on technically qualified people for assistance, I remain solely responsible for all of the work that is done.

The most difficult and expensive part of the attorney's work and responsibility is that the attorney must handle and maintain a capability to immediately handle a wide variety of matters involving time urgency and deadlines. The attorney must have the personnel, library, equipment and technical ability to promptly handle the most demanding situations that arise. On the same day and on a priority basis, we may have to handle a complex legislative matter, to prepare and transmit time deadlined bankruptcy motions, work out technical questions, and turn out two sets of time - deadlined loan instruments. The next day the work may be routine. The workload fluctuates greatly. The legal advisor does not have a forty - hour week. He devotes the time that it takes to get the job done and our office devotes preferred time and service to our Society.

We continue to have a good response from lodges in obtaining necessary liability insurance, liquor liability insurance, and workmen's compensation insurance (when the lodge has employees). These coverages

are needed more than ever before and simply must be obtained and kept in force.

We are glad to report that progress is being made through the National Fraternal Congress in the forming or acquiring of a separate liability insurance company that will serve fraternal benefit societies. It is planned that this separate company will be able to provide various liability coverages including general liability and liquor liability for the lodges and for the Society. This may be several years away, but progress is being made and we are optimistic about the work that is being done in this area and we are assisting in this development.

We are pleased that the last session of the legislature did pass legislation providing for the training and education of people who sell, service, dispense or deliver alcoholic beverages. Various schools have been formed and continue to be formed.

These schools stress teaching the proper way to sell alcohol including how to spot a minor and how to spot an intoxicated person. It will be very helpful for every lodge that is involved in this area to require its parties to attend a school that is approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Austin, which agency will promptly furnish a list of approved schools to whoever requests it. In the event of problems, the fact the lodge members involved have attended this school should be helpful to it in many ways.

The main advantage, of course, will be that by having our parties educated, it will be less likely that we will have any problems in the area where minors are involved or the area where intoxicated persons are involved.

As always, our best defense is a positive education approach where the lodges run a "clean ship" and consequently do not have problems in this or other areas.

Perhaps the main service of your legal advisor is to advise and assist in guiding the Society and the lodges to conduct their operations in such a way as to not get involved in litigation and that legislation continues to recognize that Fraternal Benefit Societies perform a special function in our United States.

In these days of rapid change, it is more important than ever that the lines of communication between the local lodge officers, the members, and your director always be open and the parties frankly discuss any concerns that they may have.

The Society is continuing to expand and offer products that meets its members' needs.

It is important that all members continue to support, cooperate with, work and actively assist their local lodge leaders, so that all will be proud of and benefit from their lodge membership. This Society has grown and prospered and will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The strength of the SPJST and the power of the SPJST is in the hands of its members and through its members and their elected delegates; many by law and other changes are being proposed by the By - law and other committees. We are fortunate in that we have dedicated and highly qualified members who devote the time and effort to get fully informed of the facts and who serve on these committees and deliberate on matters that affect the Society. I urge you to take the time and spend the effort to review the by laws and other matters affecting the Society and express your views to the committees that have been elected by your districts to serve you and be an

active participant at the Convention. It is through this critical review and expression of ideas that our Society continues to adapt, grow and prosper.

We all need to give thanks for our lodge system, for our 125 lodges, for the representative system for selecting lodge officers, committees, and delegates to the convention, and for our system to enact By - laws and other changes.

It is a good system that has stood the test of time. This has been a busy time and one that has many interesting changes and challenges.

I am optimistic about the future of the SPJST. It is a viable and dynamic Society that responds to its members and I wish the XXVth Convention much success.

It is my recommendation that the attorney continue to have an office in Temple, Texas, with space available for his use at the Supreme Lodge Building. Because of the nature of the work and space requirements (for example library and assistants) and expense that would be involved, I feel it would not be in the best interest of the Society for the attorney to be in the Supreme Lodge Building.

In accordance with the By - laws of our Society, we, the directors of the Supreme Lodge, are pleased to submit our pre - convention report to the membership of our Society and to the delegates who will be attending the XXV Convention in Temple on June 20 - 22, 1988.

The delegated authority and responsibility given to the Board of Directors is of paramount importance to the continued growth of our society.

Like the board of any non - profit corporation, our guidance, under the by - laws, requires that we be fully aware that our organization must have continued success in all phases of our operation. The value of good directors is based upon their sound and experienced judgment after weighing the facts presented with the decisions to be made. we are pleased to report that the business operation of our Society continues to be sound, stable, and progressive. The dedication and loyalty of the officers and Home Office staff to the SPJST are highly commendable. The directors' relationship with them is both professional and supportive.

The computer system has proven successful and continues to help streamline our operation. Our innovative plans and projects have increased our standing among other fraternal benefit societies.

Because of the increased life expectancy of Americans, new plans of insurance based on the 1980 CSO tables have offered more protection and savings for our membership.

Our investments continue on a sound foundation in spite of changes in the economy. Our gain in assets

exceeded 6 million dollars in 1987.

Even though we are showing a strong solvency rate, we urge the delegates to act with caution and restraint in any large appropriation of funds so that we can maintain a strong base on which to operate successfully; the larger policies being issued place us at a higher risk, and conservatism should be practiced.

We see a need for local lodges to continue their volunteer work so that the Society can continue to enjoy its non - profit status and remain tax exempt. Even though local lodge participation in fraternal activities has increased, we constantly strive for a better method of coordinating and reporting fraternal activities for the good of the Society.

We, as your directors, appreciate the cooperation and support of the local lodges, the districts and the entire membership. We feel privileged to be a part of a progressive organization like the SPJST. As a board, we wish the delegates a successful and harmonious convention.

YOUTH DISTRICT COUNSELOR: Per Diem: $100.00 per day, and all assistants as outlined by the by - laws; $50.00 per day, mileage 30 cents per mile, lodging, and actual cost of meals, not to exceed $22.00 per day while on duty. Any other reimbursements will be recommended to and approved by the Supreme Lodge.

YOUTH DEPARTMENT: Authorize the Supreme Lodge SPJST to provide quarterly reimbursements of 50 cents per youth member to the local youth clubs.

An annual allocation of $38,000 for 1988; $40,000 for 1989; $42,000 for 1990; $44,000 for 1991; $46,000 for 1992, be used exclusively for the youth. All funds are to be accounted for and audited by the District Audit Committee. Any unused revenue is to be placed in the District Youth Fund.

Authorize the Supreme Lodge to contribute to the District 50 cents per year for every insured member who has attained the age of 16 years, but

not less then $500 annually. This amount must be used for the benefit of the youth.

FRATERNAL DISTRICT AFFAIRS DIRECTOR: 30 cents per mile, lodging, and actual cost of meals, not to exceed $22.00 per day while on duty. Any other reimbursements will be recommended to and approved by the Supreme Lodge.

STANDING COMMITTEES: Additional $10.00 per diem for Chairperson and Secretary of standing committees and Vice Chairperson when acting in place of Chairperson.

The standing committees who meet on the day before the convention convenes be paid per diem, lodging for one night, and meals, as outlined by the previous convention.

The Credentials Committee will be paid for working June 19, 1988, as outlined by the previous convention.

EDUCATION: DONATIONS TO EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: The allocations to institutions teaching the Czech language, with or without credit, could best be handled by a lump sum allocation, and give the authority to disburse and administer the funds to the Supreme Lodge, the sum being $8,000 per year. These educational donations apply to Texas Educational Institutions only. The American Sokol Organization, Southern District sum being $1,500 per year. This sum to be separate from the $8,000 per year to the Educational Institutions. This money cannot be used for legal services or litigation.

CZECH CHAIR: The Finance Committee recommends a contribution of $15,000 to the Czech Chair Fund.

REST HOMES: (a) Authorize the purchase of a new van or new vehicle when"needed for the homes, when the old vehicles can no longer be of service. (b) $2,500.00 per year, per rest home, be placed in the Charity Fund, to be used by the Rest Home residents. (c) $20,000.00 per year for the two S.P.J.S.T. Rest Homes to be used to comply with the Texas Department of Health rules and regulations, maintenance and upkeep and for other uses as deemed necessary by the S.P.J.S.T Rest Home Directors.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Officers, Directors, Members on standing committees, and other authorized personnel using a personal car for the use of Society work, and are authorized personnel to travel for the Society, be paid 30 cents per mile.

2. Officers, Directors, Members on standing committees, and other authorized personnel doing work for the Society, be paid the actual cost of meals, not to exceed $22.00 per day, plus lodging expenses.

3. The District Director of the District in which the original lodge buildings are located, and the President of the Supreme Lodge shall evaluate the conditions of the original buildings of the first 25 charter SPJST lodges, and report their evaluations for disposal or renovation to the Supreme Lodge. The allocation to preserve the original buildings of the first 25 charter lodges be handled by a lump sum allocation, and give the authority to disburse and administer the funds to the Supreme Lodge, the sum being $20,000.00. The funds distributed by the Supreme Lodge be matched 100 percent by cash or inkind by the members of the local lodge and/or the local community.

4. The District Director of the District in which the SPJST cemeteries

are located, and the President of the Supreme Lodge shall evaluate the conditions of the cemeteries and report their evaluations to the Supreme Lodge. The allocation to upkeep the SPJST cemeteries be handled by a lump allocation, and give the authority to disburse and administer the funds by the Supreme Lodge, the sum being $5,000.00.

5. Upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the XXIV Convention authorized the Rest Home Directors and the Supreme Lodge to conduct a feasible study to determine if a need exists for a Rest Home or Retirement Home. The Finance Committee, after a careful study and deliberation of the researchers study -does concur with the Supreme Lodge that a Rest/Retirement Home is not feasible.

6. The Editor with approval of the Supreme Lodge, may increase the number of pages to publish the Vestnik when necessary.

7.

The Finance Committee recommends the Vestnik be published every two weeks on better stock and heavier grade of paper.

8. Hardship cases be submitted to the Finance Committee before May 30th, and will be reviewed before the convention, at this time the amount will be set.

9. Authorize the Supreme Lodge to reimburse the hosting entities for pre convention activities and refreshments during the convention. Arrangements to be coordinated with the Supreme Lodge.

10. Finance Committee recommends to adopt the following formula refunds to the Local Lodges: FORMULA 1. 8 percent of premium for certificates not on 1980 CSO 2. 5 percent of premium for Lone Pay Life 3. $8.00 per Universal Life certificate in force 4. 12 percent of first year premium on 1980 CSO certificates -- do not include certificates in (2) and (3) 5. 6 percent of renewal premium on 1980 CSO certificates -- do not include certificates in (2) and (3) 6. $1.00 per certificate in force -- all certificates and annuities.

Report Of The Insurance Committee March 19, 1988 A. The Insurance Committee made the following recommendations to the By - laws Committee.

1. Article 38.(c) Present: (C) In areas where more sales representatives are needed, the vice president has the right to appoint new sales representatives whenever he feels it is in the best interest of the Society. He must contact local lodge officers before appointing a new sales representative for any one lodge. After a new sales representative is appointed, he must be active in lodge activities, namely,

attend lodge meetings, and regularly scheduled sales representative seminars. If this requirement is not met to the Vice President's satisfaction, and/or at the request of the local lodge to the Vice President, he has the right to dismiss the sales representative.

Proposed: (c) In areas where more sales representatives are needed, the vice president has the right to appoint new sales representatives whenever he feels it is in the best interest of the Society. He must contact local lodge officers before appointing a new sales representative for any one lodge. After a new sales representative is appointed, he must be active in lodge activities, namely, attend lodge meetings, and regularly scheduled sales representative seminars. If this requirement is not met to the satisfaction of the local lodge, a letter from the local lodge president would be sent to the SL Vice President notifying him that the sales representative is not fulfilling his obligation to the lodge. The Vice President will contact the sales representative in question and re define his responsibilities. If the sales representative cannot comply with what his obligations are, he will be dismissed as a sales representative.

2. Article 42.(b) Present: (b) No member of the Supreme Lodge, nor the Editor, may hold any other position in the districts.

Proposed: (b) Delete.

B. The Insurance Committee made the following recommendations to be presented to the convention.

1. Recommend that the existing Juvenile Term plan be replaced with a modified life plan with issue age of 0 through 25. This being . a term plan which would convert to a whole life plan at age 25.

2. MIB (Medical Information Bureau) has been highly endorsed and is now in effect.

3. New ratebook is in the production stage and should be ready by the convention.

4. To concentrate training on producers and support non - producers as much as possible so that this will insure the SPJST of having a viable sales force for years to come.

5. Blood testing, this procedure has been greatly endorsed by the Insurance Committee.

6. Direct Billing - it is recommended that group billing be phased - out by the 26th SPJST Convention.

7. Strongly recommend that all sales representatives be trained in all areas of insurance programs.

Publication Committee Report May 6, 1988 This is a report of the Publication Committee for the last four years. The 1984 Convention elected the following members to the Publication Committee: District I - Melvin H. Skrabanek District H - Ruby L. Bolton District III - Albert L. Banik District IV - Angeline Kristinek District V - Louis Hanus District VI - Sophie Dybala District VII - Emil E. Matula The Publication Committee met once each year since the last convention for their annual meeting.

At the request of the SPJST Missions and Goals Committee Chairman Jerry Prochazk a, the Publication Committee also met with their committee in Temple on July 31, 1987.

During the 1985 meeting, the committee elected the following officers: Chairman - Angeline Kristinek Vice Chairman - Albert Banik Secretary - Melvin Skrabanek During the past four years, the Publication Committee received several letters with objectionable material and several letters complimenting the Vestnik. The committee acted on all letters.

The committee agteed that the headlines on the Vestnik should be in block letters and printed darker. The Vestnik is now being printed in 10 point type.

Editor Sefcik stated that, on a few occasions, he could use four extra pages in the Vestnik to get all of his material printed. He realizes that this approval would take action from the convention.

President Howard Leshikar stated that he also recognizes the need for four pages in the Vestnik for special occasions such as for the poster contest and it would give more space for pictures.

The committee decided that SPJST needs more youth pictures on the front page of the Vestnik.

Brother Jerry Mikulas reported, at the last meeting, that SPJST is now printing about 10,000 copies of the Vestnik per week.

The committee discussed the publishing of ads in the Vestnik that conflict with SPJST functions. The committee approved that the editor dispense with all advertisements in the form of ads from the Vestnik that are in competition with dances and other functions at SPJST lodges.

In the 1988 meeting, the committee discussed ways of getting more Vestniks to the members of SPJST. It was decided that the Supreme Lodge is to send a copy of the Vestnik (one issue) to one member in a household with a coupon on the front page to be returned to the Supreme Lodge if this family wishes to receive the Vestnik.

The committee requested Editor Sefcik and the Supreme Lodge that they are to check on the cost of a better quality paper to be used for the Vestnik.

Emil Matula informed the committee that he mailed a copy of the Publication Committee Guidelines to the editor, to each Supreme Lodge officer and to each director.

The committee feels that there is an excellent relationship between our editor and the officers of the Supreme Lodge.

The committee recommends that the editor continue to be elected by the convention delegates.

Prior to his transfer to Lodge 87, he was a member of Lodge 24 and within his 52 - year membership, he was elected financial secretary, president and served on the Visitation Committee. He was vice president of District II. Ladis' records reveal that he attended SPJST Conventions in Waco, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. He has been an active sales representative since 1970 and in 1987, he has achieved another outstanding record for being among the SPJST's Million Dollar sales representatives in Texas. He presently is serving on the SPJST Insurance Committee.

Ladis had been employed as auto parts manager for Montgomery Ward.

After his retirement, he also enjoys his membership activities with the Temple Optimist, and Central Texas Sportman's Club.

Angeline Kristinek

Jerry E. Valchar Finance Committee Member Jerry E. Valchar represents District II and has been an SPJST member for over 50 years. He and his wife have two children and two grandchildren. Jerry is now retired after holding positions at Farmers Mutual Protective Association and Texas RVOS Insurance Company.

While working for Farmers Mutual Protective Association, he held the positions of treasurer for 6 years and president for 24 years. He has attended several conventions and served on several committees with the Texas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies such as the Legislature Committee in which he served for 35 years and the positions of president, vice president and director.

Jerry and his wife are both members of SPJST Lodge 87 in Temple. He served as president for 2 years and is currently serving in his second year as vice president of the lodge. On the state level, he has attended several SPJST conventions and also served on the Salary and Donations Committee for the 1952 Convention.

He has received several honors such as Who's Who in the South and Southwest 1976 - 1981, Who's Who in the World 1982 - 1983, Who's Who in Finance and Industry 1981 - 1982, and Personalities of the South 1976 - 77.

He has also received the Certificate of Merit for Distinguished Service to the community from the Dictionary of International Biography in Cambridge, England in 1978.

On the community level, Jerry served as member and secretary of the Temple Planning Commission 1968 1971, member of the Temple Citizens Advisory Committee 1962 - 1967, member of Housing Study Group 1966 - 1967, member of the Temple City Zoning Board 1970 - 71, director of the United Fund, member of the National USO Council in 1971, and president and vice president of the Temple USO 1971 - 1973. In 1986, he served as Executive director for the Texans of Czech Ancestry in observance of the Texas Sesquicentennial.

Angeline and her husband, Ernest Kristinek, Sr., moved to Lubbock and continue living on a large farm. They Lodge have two sons and daughters - in - law, Family Social Night is scheduled for plus five grandchildren and three great - grandchildren, all of whom are Friday, May 20 at Lodge 47, Seaton.
