"Dream Come True" Sales Campaign Winners Announced Roy Hranicky of Lodge No. 137 was the Caribbean Cruise winner in the "Dream Come True" contest.

Roy has done a tremendous job in 1981 producing $12,223.95 worth of annualized premium for the SPJST. A very close race for second place between Willie Gloyna of Lodge No. 186 and Chester Shmoldas of Lodge No. 74 existed with Brother Gloyna finally coming out ahead with $9,555.61 of production. Brother Shmoldas finished the campaign off The seiectwr. -nd prior auditing of product.on as under Lae supervision of Roxie Dipple of Dipple and Co. of Tempe, an independent accounting firm.

at $9,378.18 and was awarded third prize. Brother Gloyna is very active in our newest lodge in the SPJST family. Brother Shmoldas is very responsible for the outstanding growth of the Lovelady Lodge.

Our three Las Vegas winners were selected from all the sales representatives who produced at least one thousand dollars of annualized premiums. They are Mildred Horak of Lodge No. 13, Rubie A. Volek of Lodge No. 187 and Albin Machu of Lodge No. 29.

To All Concerned: Based on recent actions of the Supreme Lodge, the following decisions were made pertaining to the holding of the Officers' Workshops next spring: 1) Instead of being held in three different locations as in the past, it has been decided to hold all the sections here in the Home Office building in Temple. The thinking is that there are still a lot of members who have not had the opportunity to visit the Supreme Lodge Home Office and who have never toured or viewed the museum facilities, especially now since they have been moved to the basement.

2) The date selected for the workshops is Saturday, March 6, 1982. All sections will meet in various areas of the Home Office building, starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until 12:45.

3) A catered noon meal will be furnished, courtesy of the Supreme Lodge, at 1 p.m. and it will be served at Lodge No. 47 Seaton approximately 8 miles east of Temple on Hwy. 53.

4) A final and joint session will start at 2 p.m. and we should be completed by 2:30. The last matter of business to be taken care of will be the completion of the requisition forms for mileage reimbursement.

5) Sections will include lodge presidents and vice presidents in one section and lodge secretaries and financial secretaries in another.

Lodge treasurers may attend any or all of the sections, moving to them only at the start of a session or during the breaks.

6) Mileage reimbursement for one car only from each lodge. Anyone else wishing to attend, other than those mentioned here, is welcomed to do so, furnishing their own transportation.

7) Lodging headquarters for those wishing to come in on a Friday night from a considerable distance is the Holiday Inn on I-35 North on the west side of Temple. It will be up to the individual to make his own reservations and we have made arrangements with the motel for one billing for all those staying at the motel, instead of .a number of bills.

In addition to lodging, meals will be allowed at the motel for those staying overnight. Those wishing to make reservations may do so by contacting the Holiday Inn, 802 North General Bruce Drive, telephone 817-778-4411.

8) The museum area can be visited either before the workshops, during the breaks, or at the conclusion of the final session at Seaton Star Hall.

The highway to Star Hall is a direct route and you should be able to make it in the 15 minutes allotted between the last session and the start of the meal there at 1 p.m.

These workshops held in previous years have proven to be mutually beneficial, but of course, you have to attend to get anything out of them. I am sorry to say that some of the lodges have never sent representatives. We are scheduling the workshops a little earlier this year so as not to conflict with the miloplanting season. Sessions will deal primarily with lodge procedures and administration. Youth work or insurance per se `-will' not , be covered r

since these two areas are adequately covered in district and state seminars and training classes.

Our national and state laws define a Fraternal Benefit Society as "Having a lodge system with ritualistic work." The more efficient our lodges are, the better we are insuring and guaranteeing our future as a Fraternal Benefit Society. The United States Internal Revenue Code specifies two primary requisites for a Fraternal Benefit Society: "a) Must operate on the lodge system, and b) Provide for the payment of life, sick, accident or other benefits to members or their dependents." Thus we see the specific reference to a "lodge system" and it is through the lodge system that we must operate and improve our services. It behooves every officer mentioned above to attend these workshops as part of his duty and obligation in being an officer in the local lodge. We all learn through these workshops. In the meantime, we would welcome suggestions that any of you might have about what topic or topics to include in any of the sections at the workshops in 1982. Those of you out in the field and on the local lodge level may have some definite ideas as to what needs discussing. If you do, let us know.

The members of the Supreme Lodge paid tribute to Legal Advisor Reuben B. Lesikar who was called to life eternal on October 3, 1981. The members of the board stood in silent tribute, after which a Resolution of Respect was unanimousl y adopted.

MINUTES-The minutes of the July 14-15, 1981 Supreme Lodge Meeting were considered and accepted as presented.

VACANCY IN POSITION OF LEGAL ADVISOR - A motion was adopted that the matter of the vacancy in position of legal advisor be considered and filled as the next order of business. After due deliberation, Sidney Kacir was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Reuben B. Lesikar.

CORRESPONDENCE - Several letters addressed to the Supreme Lodge, were read.

REPORTS A motion was adopted that all the Supreme Lodge Officers' reports be acknowledged and filed for record.

OLD BUSLNESS SPJST HISTORY-Consideration was given to the matter of the SPJST History. The specifications and cost quotation were discussed.

Decision on the history was deferred until the January Supreme Lodge Meeting to allow Legal Advisor Kacir time to review the material. It was agreed that price information be obtained for printing of 500 copies both perfect bound and cloth bound. Discussion on the notes made

by Supreme Lodge Members on the content of the history was deferred until the January Supreme Lodge Meeting.

Editor Rudy Sefcik arrived to visit the meeting for the remainder of the day.

LONG-RANGE PLANNING - A committee consisting of Bernie Gebala, Leonard D. Mikeska, Thelma Hrncir, Ben Trcalek and Cyrill Pokladnik was named to consider long-range planning and goals for the overall operation of the Society. This committee approach was suggested at the recent NFCA to keep the fraternal benefit system viable in today's business climate. The committee was designated the Corporate Planning Committee (CPC). Its responsibility is to conduct studies of various areas of our operation and to report its findings and recommendations to the entire Supreme Lodge for appropriate action.

EQUIPMENT - Purchase of office equipment was reported and approved.

REAL ESTATE LOANS - The list of delinquent loans in Secretary-Treasconsidered and his recommendations were approved. recommendations were approved.

MINUTES OF OFFICERS' MEETINGS - The minutes of the 6 officers' meetings were approved.

THIRD QUARTER INVESTMENTS The investments for the quarter were ratified.

BINGO - After considerable discussion of the legal ramifications and the responsibility of directors and all Supreme Lodge Members, a proposed letter was read and it was agreed to send the letter to all lodges that may be conducting or promoting Bingo.

LOCAL LODGE PARTIAL RELEASE - Consideration was given to a lodge's request for a partial release.

The matter was reviewed and discussed at length. A proposed letter was read and approved. The letter was to be mailed by the secretarytreasurer and is to include requirement of a loan reduction payment.

NEW BUSINESS PREMIUM REFUNDS - Actuary David Huff arrived and discussed surplus, solvency and the annual refund scale. After due deliberation the matter was referred to the CPC for further study and recommendation.

V Recess for the day was taken at 5:35 until 9:00 a.m. October 15, 1981.

INSURANCE PREREQUISITES FOR MORTGAGE LOANS - Because of the fact that demand for mortgage loans has far exceeded the supply of funds available for investment, there was . discussion on setting additional prerequisites for a member to qualify for a loan. After. considerable discus-

sion it was agreed that a member or a member and spouse must have a minimum of $25,000 of insurance in force with the SPJST before their mortgage loan application can be considered whenever loan funds are available.

HANDLING OF NEW CERTIFICATES - Attention was called to the cumbersome chain of events prescribed in our by-laws dealing with new certificates. After review of the problems the matter was postponed for further study.

MORTGAGE LOAN APPLICATIONS - After recommendation on the matter and discussion, the loan moratorium was extended until the January Supreme Lodge Meeting.

The matter of fixed rates as opposed to variable or renegotiable rates on mortgages was discussed. A motion was adopted that the Supreme Lodge Officers pursue the possibilities of using a mortgage instrument that would be renegotiated after 5 years allowing the interest rate to increase or decrease.

The interest rate for assumptions and expired commitments was set at 14%.

MORTGAGE LOAN SOFTWARE After hearing a report on a proposed mortgage loan program, it was decided to discontinue mailing loan payment receipts when the new system is instituted, because of increasing postage and mailing costs.

FORECLOSURE - Report was made on property foreclosed on October 6, 1981. The property consists of 5.16 acres of land in Williamson CountY, Texas. A motion was adopted that the Supreme Lodge Officers be given authority to set the sale price of the property and make the decisions necessary to dispose of the property.

DISCOUNT ON "A" & "B" CERTIFICATES - A motion was passed that the usual discount of 25% on premiums be granted to all members in Class "A" and "B" whose certificates were in force 35 years or more and who have attained the age of 70 or more, plus an additional 25% discount when they attain the age of 75.

PREMIUM REFUND CHECKS - It was agreed that the reimbursement to local lodges for delivery of premium refund checks be set at 154 per check.

The next Supreme Lodge meeting was set to begin Monday, January 11-14, 1982 at 9 a.m.

All business having been completed, the meeting was adjourned at 12:50 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by Henry Breitkruetz. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dawn Pavelka.

We were glad to have, as visitors, Tillie Matus and Willie Thun.

The minutes of the September meeting were read by Secretary Albert Banik. He also read correspondence received from the Christine Dulock family, a thank you note; also a thank you from Brother Willie Pavelka and one from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Parish.

Henry Breitkruetz, Jr. gave the treasurer's report.

Youth Leader Rosemarie Banik reported that there were 11 members present for the Youth Club meeting.

They discussed Christmas, drew names for Christmas and talked about where to hold the party. Sister Banik also reported on State YAD. She said our Queen Pam Thun came in second at State Royalty. We are very proud of Pam for doing so well. The members who observed birthdays in October were: Sister Mary Beralek and Brothers Vernon Dulock and George Holub.

The committees reported: Barbara Pavelka gave the kitchen report and also filled in for husband Gene Edward Pavelka for refreshments.

Albert Banik' gave the entertainment report. The building chairman and Trustees didn't have reports this month.

New members accepted were Lucas Dan Hanes and Hollee MaRae Brown.

The door prizes were won by Donald Steinke for youth and Edna Tepe for adult prize.

The Sunshine Committee reported that JoNell Webb was in the hospital.

Brother Willie Pavelka was to go into the hospital for surgery; also, Dawn Pavelka was to enter the hospital in Houston for Scoliosis surgery. Hope everyone is doing well now.

There was no further business so the meeting was adjourned.

Nelsonville Lodge Announces 75th Anniversary Celebration Lodge No. 68 in Nelsonville will celebrate its 75th year of existence Sunday, November 15, 1981. The lodge was organized in November, 1906.

Lodge No. 18, Elgin Plans Benefit Event Our Chili Supper and Fall Festival were an "Outstanding Success"; best attendance ever! The rain came down as the cold front came in, but it didn't bother the spooks and goblins, they still were out and many visited our fall festival.

Chili bowls were served and fun booths opened at 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. George Freudenberg, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Krause assisted in the kitchen with the drinks while Sister Janell Mogonye and Evelyn Gustafson assisted with the desserts. We had cooks Buddy Meyer, Ray Arbuckle, Otis Schandals, Curtis Young, Curley Gustafson, Paul Peterson, Leslie Gustafson and Bubba Johnson; Gilbert Kubicek, Bo Brian, Anton Mogonye and Curley Gustafson served the chili. George Diebel and Alton Prinz managed the chili tickets seeing that those who wanted to participate in the drawing for the door prizes, that the Youth Department was sponsoring, to be sure and sign their ticket. Door prizes were donated by: Criss' House of Plants, Blossom Shop, Mogonye Lumber, Elgin Optimist Club and Hicks Exxon.

Gladys Mogonye, chairperson of the Country Store, had good response on baked goods, plants, kitchen utensils and kitchen apparel from all members â&#x20AC;˘ with Emmie Haisler and Melinda Mogonye assisting. assisting.

Our lodge was then quickly cleaned and tickets were sold starting at 8 p.m. for the Debonaires' dance which followed.

We all had fun and it was a delight to see the number of people who came out, enjoying and participating in the fun.

As result of the flooding which hit the Austin area several months ago, we will be sponsoring a "Benefit" for the Wilbert Krause family Sunday, November 22nd with a chicken dinner beginning at 12:30 and Fritz Hodde providing the music in the afternoon.

October 24, 1981, I had the honor and pleasure to attend a gathering sponsored by Lisa Kaye Bright and Charles Edward Huff in the SPJST and Sokol Hall.

My dear daughter Ann Peal came to my home to take me to the hall and when we arrived there at 4 p.m., the parking lot was filled with autos.

Inside we shook hands with many celebrants and the bride and groom.

I was escorted by Victor Huff Jr. to the table occupied by his dear father Victor and mother Rosi Huff. (My son-in-law Roy Peal was busy at the barbecue pit, and Ann Peal in the kitchen to serve supper to the four hundred guests at 5 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the band started the dance with a wedding march. It was wonderful weather and so was the event that day. I got back home at 8 p.m. and made a few notes in my note book.

I would like to include some highlights about their beautiful wedding: Miss Lisa Kaye Bright and Charles Edward Huff were married Oct. 24 at St. Theresa Catholic ' Church.

. k Additional entertainment was provided by District V youngsters under the direction of DYC Joyce Mynar. The program consisted of a skit "Friday Afternoon Composition." There are so many people we need to thank for helping with our booths at our Fall Festival. We appreciate all the support.

We had "face painting", fortunetelling, bite-the-apple, ring toss, pan for gold, horse races and the cake walk and we all tried to be dressed up for Halloween.

We had a contest, involving all youth members attending the Fall Festival, which was divided in five categories and several of our members won.

The District VII spring meeting will be held Sunday, March 28, 1982 in New Braunfels with Lodge No. 185 as host lodge.

Dear Members, The Robstown Youth Club held its regular monthly meeting October 17, 1981 at the Scout Hut. President Todd Ellzey called the meeting to order and led our group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Shannon Hardcastle read the minutes of last month's Edwin meeting.

Treasurer McDonald gave the treasurer's report. Shannon Hardcastle then called the roll.

Mr. Hrncir, youth leader, talked about the tickets to earn money for our bus repair.

We have had several activities since the last meeting. They were the District VII fall meeting September 20. Donald Marek reported on that We went to the circus, movie and bowling. Joe Landin reported on the bowling trip.

Our new business was the Halloween Party held at Hazel Bazemore October 31; November 14 was a trip to the museum followed by a trip to Cole Park; and November 21, our regular monthly meeting will be held from 2 to 5 p.m.

Amy Suker was introduced as the new member.

We had seven guests, Krissy Draper, Darryl Foster, Frances Wilkinson, Joe Landin, Kim and Kevin King and Mary Treanor.

Edwin McDonald, Debbie Foerster, Michael Landin and Joe Landin, all had birthdays in October.
