An Announcement From CESAT To The Czech-American Public In Texas Czech is the third language of Texas and CESAT organization is striving to perpetuate our heritage by promoting the teaching of Czech wherever suitable conditions exist. In order to stress the importance of this effort, CESAT is now offering a contest for high school students proficient in written and spoken Czech language wherever Czech is taught at high school level across the state. The selection of the eligible contestants should be done by the teachers of Czech at each individual 'nool and these teachers are reuested to send the names, addresses and other pertinent information of the prospective entries of this contest to Mr. W. E.

Souchek, secretary of CESAT as soon as possible. The selected high school students would then be required to take a written and verbal test and compose a short article in Czech. Mr. W. E. Souchek is delegated by CESAT to judge the results and select the winner of this contest. The winner will receive a $150 scholarship as a show of appreciation of this organization and a $25 award from HATFL. Both award and money will be presented to the best high school student proficient in the Czech language, . during or after the meeting of HATFL at the University of Houston Branch, Clear Lake City Campus. Diego, California, September 27-30. Many topics pertaining to the Fraternal Benefit System were reviewed and discussed. All pertinent data as it applies to the SPJST was shared with the entire Supreme Lodge at its recent meeting. The young couple took up the occupation of farming and made their home in the Penelope area. They retired in 1957 and moved to West, Texas. Sister Rypel has two daughters; Mrs. Bill (Lillian) Pinter and Mrs. Elsie Janek who is also a member of Penelope Lodge No. 167. Both daughters reside in West, Texas. Sister Rypel has 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 greatgreat-grandchildren. She has one brother, Charles Fabian of Fort Worth, Texas who is also a member of Lodge No. 167. Although her daughter Elsie lives with her, Sister Rypel is still active and able to do her household chores. She also enjoys working in the yard and maintaining her garden.
