Couple Celebrates Anniversary
Alan and Whitney Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Mogonye, all of Elgin, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Walker of Stephenville were all able to attend the occasion and also are all members of Elgin Lodge No. 18. Sunday, October 4, 1981, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mogonye Sr. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home near Elgin. They were married in a double ceremony with Albina's sister, Josie Novosad and the late John Michalik on October 2, 1921 in Granger Brethren Church by the late Rev. Josef Barton. Mrs. Michalik was present at the occasion and is residing at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor. The Mogonyes have resided on the farm where Jim was born in 1898 all their married life. Pianist-Composer To Give Concert Tour in Western Texas A well-known SPJST member, Richard Urbis of Robstown, will present a five-city concert tour in Western Texas during mid-fall. This is the list of concert dates, places and times: Oct. 23, 8:00 p.m. — Texas Tech University, Lubbock Oct. 24, 8:15 p.m. — Western Texas College, Snyder Oct. 26, 8:00 p.m. — Baptist Church Chapel, Big Spring Oct. 28, 8:00 p.m. — Angelo State University, San Angelo Oct. 30, 8:15 p.m. — Schreiner College, Kerrville Richard performed to great audience acclaim in recent international piano competitions in Warsaw and Vienna. The Dallas Symphony has performed his own compositions. The concerts will have selections by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Lizst, and his own "CzechAmerican Fantasy." The public is invited. Free admission. In Corpus Christi, he performed Monday, Oct. 19 at the Dilliard's Store in the Padre Stables Mall.
Reuben B. Lesikar South 45th in Temple around noon on Saturday, October 3rd. Funeral services were conducted from the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple on Tuesday, October 6th, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Di Paola, rector of the Christ Episcopal Church in Temple, officiated, with interment following in the Taylor City Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. Pallbearers were Anton Moth Jerry Valchar, Horace Andrews, Clyde Brock, Dane Everton, Ladis Navratil, Bernard Gebala and Leonard Mikeska. Bro. Lesikar had been serving the SPJST as Supreme Lodge Legal Adviser sir ce the XXIst Convention in Houston in 1972, when he succeeded the late August Kacir. He had also served for 14 years as president of Lodge 29 Taylor, where he had been a member since 1935. He was past president of the BellLampasas & Mills Counties Bar Association and had served as a lieutenant in the US Navy in WW II. He is survived by his wife Jeanette; two daughters, Janet McReynolds of Quebec City, Canada, and Brenda Huber of Temple; three grandchildren; four brothers, Ed of Lake Jackson, John of Bay City, Dr. Marvin Lesikar of Taylor, and Allen of Refugio; two sisters, Mrs. Claudie Glover of Taylor and Mrs. Betty (August) Kacir of Temple. The vacancy will now be filled by the Supreme Lodge. Bro. Lesikar was a very conscientious and competent legal adviser. He was an ardent advocate and believer in the SPJST and what it stood for. He had firm convictions. His position will be difficult to fill. Our sympathies to his wife Jeanette and the surviving family. Fraternally, Nick A. Morris President — SPJST —
