There will be a benefit dance Sunday, September 20th at Lodge No. 47 Seaton Star Hall for Sister Ginger Klusacek.

The dance starts at 4 p.m. with two bands: J. C. Whatley and the H.O.T. Czechs playing music for entertainment until 10 p.m. Kitchen will also be open during these hours.

Sister Klusacek, the spouse of Brother Alfred L. Klusa.cek, has been ill since last May and, she is unable to take care of their 3-yearold daughter, Tracie.

All proceeds from this dance will go to Ginger to help defray her expenses incurred since she has DOUBLE SHO CULTIVATOR been unable to work.

Ginger and her husband have been active members of Lodge No. 47. She served as lodge secretary for Library, Archives, Museum one year. 75th Celebration For Waco Lodge No. 66

Lodge No. 66 will be 75 years old in September. We are proud of our lodge and want to celebrate its birthday Sunday, September 20th beginning with a dinner at Linden Hall for all members and their families, which will be served at 12:30 p.m. The lodge will furnish barbecued chicken and all the trimmings. Ladies are asked to bring desserts.

The regular lodge meeting will follow the dinner. The youth club will also meet at that time.

Come help us celebrate, show your pride and interest in your lodge.

There are some things we still need to make the museum more outstanding. To complete our agricultural pioneering tools we still need a DOUBLE-SHOVEL and a 5SHOVEL CULTIVATOR as per illustrations, there are still a few of both lying around in weeds around old barns; even though the handles may have rotted away, we can still use them in our displays and your name will be entered on our GOLDEN BOOK of donors where it will remain forever. We also need an incubator; especially the little BROWN HEN which used to be sold

Minutes of the Publication Committee Meeting Temple, Texas March 14, 1981 The regular meeting of the Publication Committee was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman Ed Mazanec. All members of the Publication Committee were present; also present was Supreme Lodge VicePresident, Bernie Gebala, Editor Rudy Sefcik and Publisher Larry Ingram.

The secretary read the minutes of the October 4, 1980 meeting and the minutes were approved as read with one correction. One page 2, paragraph 5, the name Larry Ingram should be changed to Stillhouse Publishing Company.

The secretary received a letter from President Nick A. Morris stating that he will be unable to attend the Publication Committee meeting because he will be attend ing the Hallettsville workshop.

Chairman Mazanec had the secre tary read a letter written by Presi dent Nick A. Morris to all the members of the Supreme Lodge concerning a telephone call from Linn Pescaia in which he registered a formal complaint regarding the "continued harrasment and taking up of his employees' time by Editor Sefeik." Chairman Mazanec stated that he talked to Editor Sefcik and asked him to bend over backward to try to please the Pescaias until December 31, 1980 when the Pescaia's contract expires. Editor Sefcik then explained what had actually happened.

Since this is the first meeting of the Publication Committee that was elected for the years 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984 by the San Antonio Convention, Chairman Mazanec asked for election for officers for the committee: Chairman-Ed by acclamation Vice Chairperson- Angeline Kristinek elected by acclamation Secretary - Melvin H. Skrabanek elected by acclamation The committee discussed the awarding of longevity pins to SPJST members and the committee decided

that the members should receive a pin every five years. This information is to be forwarded to Brother Gebala.

Brother Gebala stated that Mr. Larry Ingram, the new publisher of the Vestnik, has been super to work with.

Mr. Larry Ingram stated that Editor Sefcik and Maxine Sefcik have been excellent to work with and he has received excellent cooperation from them.

Editor Sefcik then read a letter from Mr. Karas and asked if this letter should be published in the Vestnik. Melvin Skrabanek moved, seconded by Ruby Bolton that the letter be printed. Passed.

Editor Sefcik then stated that some of the Supreme Lodge reports have been forwarded directly to the publisher for printing and that the Editor has no control over the material printed in the Vestnik.

Tommy Lostak moved, seconded by Emil Matula that Vice-President Bernie Gebala inform the Supreme Lodge officers that the Publication Committee requests that all'officers' reports be mailed to the editor before being published.

The committee decided that the next regular meeting be held on Saturday, September 26, 1981 at 10:00 a.m. in Temple, Texas.

Newsletter From Mid-Cities Lodge No. 183 Dear Members: Our last meeting was planned for Sunday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the lodge hall.

We extend congratulations and our best wishes to Mark and Joyce Engel. They exchanged their wedding vows Saturday, August 29 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The reception and dinner was celebrated at the lodge. Joyce is the daughter of Wesley and Helen Sulak who are members of our lodge.

Another happy occasion was the 31st wedding anniversary of members Edwin and Dorothy Kral.

They hosted a dinner and dance at the lodge Sunday, August 30. We send our congratulations and our wishes for many more years of happiness together. Both Ed and Dottie are active workers during our game nights at the lodge.

We send get-well wishes to Juanita Cote who had knee surgery August 17.

Albert Greenlees is on crutches after breaking his foot. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Mrs. Eddie (Annie) Hlavaty had surgery August 27. This was her second surgery during the month of August. We hope she will start feeling much better now.

Constructive and widening of Arkansas Lane has had an impact on the attendance at our Tuesday and Thursday game nights, but we still continue to survive. The street work should be completed in another week or two Arkansas Lane will then be a nice four-lane thoroughfare.

In August we started collecting canned goods during the game nights so that'needy families can be remembered during Thanksgiving.

We are receiving a nice response from this project.

Plans are also underway for a special charity game night. Proceeds will go to the "Star House" in Fort Worth and "Muscular Dystrophy."

Our last dance at the lodge was a free dance with music by John Kennedy and the Gamblers; it was a country-western band. Everyone was invited.

Dear Members: District V officers and Lodge 88 officers and some board members had a great meeting for planning our fall meeting. It was quite encouraging to see the enthusiasm and cooperation of the members.

The meeting will be Sunday, October 11th, at Lodge 88, West 15th and Beall Streets, Houston.

There is not a doubt in my mind that they will be great hosts and will do everything possible to make it a memorable day for you.

A delicious roast beef dinner with the trimmings will be served from 11:30 on. The famous Lodge 88 Czech Concert Orchestra and the popular Lodge 88 Choral Club will entertain you during the noon hour 'till 1:15. You have heard them so you know how beautiful their music and songs are!

bid farewell to a faithful member, Brother Frank F. Faltesek who passed away September 3, 1981, at the age of 93. Dear Readers: Lodge No. 6 Cottonwood held its meeting Sunday, August 30 at 3 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by President Dobecka.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was led by Karen and Lanette Hykel.

Eddie Hykel reported 22 members and one guest Kenneth Brown present.

Secretary Barbara Hykel read the minutes of the previous meeting.

They were approved as read.

In the youth report, YL Willie Mae Schuetz reported that the youngsters had a watermelon party and Beseda practice for Westfest She reported that Dee Dee Dobecka was the recipient of the $600 Scholarship. Other first place winners were Damon Perez, Shirley Dobecka and Darrell Uptmor; Darrell also won Junior of the Year.

The youth club gave $50 towards the advertisement for the annual picnic and also a new cooker for the kitchen. The float was decorated for Westfest and an interior decorating party will be held. Kolaches were also baked for Westfest. The birthdays for September are Theresa Dobecka and Lillian Perez. Tam= Dobecka brought the cake.

have a free dance, too. After serving dinner, we will have a free dance and music will be furnished by Dan'n' the Boys, a very well-known band from Houston and also a brother member of the SPJST. Thank God our lodge is growing every month by month, so come one and all.

Our Saturday night, September 5th dance was pretty well-attended by fine music lovers from far and near, we thank them all who came to hear the good country sound of good mixed music of Brother George Machart from Shiner, Texas. With him was a real good brother of the SPJST, Brother Gallia, who played on the electric organ and piano and also is a good photographer for the SPJST and other occasions; thanks to him. We all enjoyed the music throughout the evening.

September 19 we will have a dance again with music by Lee Roy Matocha. Bring your friends and BYOB and other drinks and set-ups are in our barroom served by Brother and Sister Tafte family and also by Brother and Sister Kowalski family; thanks to all!

October 3 we will also have a dance with music by Ray Krenek, so get ready and call for your reservations for your tables of your wishes, but first call for your tables for our dance on September 19 to the music of Lee Roy Matocha; all calls will be greatly appreciated.

Remember, our dances are held every second Saturday of the month.

August 29 we went to repay our visit to our brother Knights of Columbus Council No. 4577 on Madden Road to show our appreciation of their visits to our SPJST Lodge No. 172. Thanks to them, we had a grand time; we danced to a well-known and famous countrywestern band of Adolf Hofner from San Antonio, Texas; also a friend of mine for a few years. He is well-liked by many with music you can really call country-western and variety.

Well, for all our beloved friends, sisters and brothers, we wish to thank all for their dearly love to us and for their patronage to our lodge.

Those of you who are on their vacation trips, we do hope that a guardian angel is with them on their way wherever and wish them a safe return trip back home. God bless more of them so we will be glad to receive them back into our lodge home.

We pray further for our beloved brothers, sisters and friends wherever for their best in recovery in health and happiness, etc.

Please do think about joining SPJST; but, most of all, come to SPJST Rozkvet No. 172 in Pasadena, Texas and you will be glad you did. Bye now.

Lodge No. 183, Mid-Cities Newsletter Dear Members: Our special "Charity Game Night" held Saturday, September 5 was a successful event. Members who donated their time and efforts included Phil Boyle who did an outstanding job as organizer and emcee for the night, also Lambert and Bennie Mae Pustejovsky, Ed and Dottie Kral, Daniel and Mary Ann Roznovsky, Inez Greenlees, Norman Kneschk, Walter Parsons, B. J. Hlavaty and Betty Illava.ty. Many thanks to all these faithful workers.

Members, relatives, friends and guests enjoyed playing all the various fun-games. We want to thank everyone for their participation and generosity.

Monday morning, September 7, President B. J. Hlavaty, Treasurer Inez Greenlees and Betty Hla,vaty, along with Phil Boyle, who, by the way, was chairman of Muscular Dystrophy and representative of several of our fraternal Arlington organizations, appeared on television at 7:15 a.m. on the Jerry Lewis Telethon being broadcast from Six Flags Over Texas. President Hlavaty presented a check in the amount of $500 from Lodge No. 183 to Bobbie Wygant for the Muscular Dystrophy Association to aid "Jerry's kids." This was really a pleasant experience for all of us.

Tuesday, President B. J. Hlavaty and Phil Boyle made their appearance at the Star House in Fort Worth, a drug and alcoholic rehabilitation Center, and presented a check in the amount of $500 from Lodge No. 183. This center is in great need of funds to continue the work they are doing. Our donation was gratefully accepted by the directors of Star House.

Sunday, September 6 Russell and Kelli Wesley exchanged wedding vows at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Their reception and dinner were held at the lodge. Kelli is the daughter of member Nancy Holmes and the late Mr. Holmes. Our congratulations and best wishes to the newly-weds.

To all our shut-ins we wish a brighter tomorrow.

To members: Contact your lodge and participate in functions going on. You will find it's a rewarding experience for peace of mind and 'a place to find wonderful friendships.

District VII Fall Meeting

After the singing we had a short business meeting conducted by Anne Krcha due to Sister Dorothy Morris being ill; we missed you, Dorothy, and we sincerely hope you can be with us at the next practice Sept.22nd.

Minutes were read from the June 9th meeting and accepted as written by our secretary, Sister Lillian Kosarek who also reviewed what has been going on during the vacation period. Our club has participated in the Rogers celebration and had a float in their parade which won "FIRST PLACE" and $50; we also had a float in the Cameron celebration where we took "FIRST PLACE" and a check for $25. We also had a float in the Temple Centennial winning "THffiD PLACE" against some stiff competition. Our club then sang at the Wildcat Stadium for the Temple Centennial, which we enjoyed very much and so the summer passed away quickly.

We also discussed participating in the Seaton Star Hall Halloween dance Saturday, October 31st and we have decided to attend as a group dressed appropriately for the occasion so all you members of the Seaton Choral Club have lots of nice things to look forward to and if you are not a member of this group WHY NOT JOIN TODAY? Seaton Choral Club The Seaton Choral Club met for, their regular Choral practice at Seaton Star Hall Tuesday night with the following members present: Emily Stuteville, Otto Hanus, Alfred and Martha Klusaeek, Willie and Adeline Kohutek, Albina Mikeska, Della Psencik, Agnes Schiller, Mary Holick, Anne Krcha, our vicepresident, Henry and Helen Janacek, (Henry is our fine accordianist), Lillian Kosarek, our secretary, Frank and Eleonora Spanhel, Georgia Sodek, Frank and Lillian Mikulec, Emily Dohnalik, Thelma Bartosh, Dorothy Pechal, and Leon and Vallie Zavodny.

The Choral Club started their summer vacation with the June 9th meeting; this is done every summer to enable our members to go on vacations and various other reasons and it was a happy occasion for most of us to begin our practice sessions and what a time we hadi We sang thirty minutes overtime. Singing does something for us that nothing else can and we would like to see more members to attend every meeting. You have often heard the saying "If you don't have anything to talk about, you can always talk about the weather." The weather was very much the topic of interest this past week. The floods that hit the Czech communities of Hallettsville and Shiner were awful. Rains were needed but not in such abundance.

Our hearts go out to the people of those towns, as well as Galveston that was hit by 7 tornadoes.

Our · Circle met September 3.

President A. Zvolanek called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was repeated. A moment of silence was observed to the memory of Adolph Janecka, husband of Sister A. Janecka, Mrs. Mary Vrla, mother-inlaw of Sister H. Vrla, Jr., Matej Ondrusek of Czechoslovakia, brother of Sister M. Dusek, and Vernon Willrich, brother-in-law of Sister A. Hucek. Sincere sympathy is expressed to each of the bereaved families and their loved ones.

Recording Secretary F. Curry read the minutes which were approved as read. Treasurer A. Vlk gave a good financial report.

For those of you who are not familiar with the location of Lodge 29, there are two or three ways to get there, but rather than go into a lot of detail, I will give you the principal directions from downtown Taylor. The main thoroughfare north and south through Taylor is Hwy. 95. One block south of the first red light coming into Taylor from the north (Temple) take Hosack Street for one-half block, then turn right on Porter Street for two blocks, then continue left on Thorndale Road approximately one and one-half miles to Lodge 29. (See accompanying sketch).

From the Youth Leaders SEATON SPJST LODGE NO. 47 YL REPORT Dear Readers: Our September meeting was called to order by President Roderick Hutka on Sunday, August 30. Kim Craft led us in repeating the pledges.

Twenty-three members and five guests were in attendance at the meeting during which time Vicki Tepera and Lisa Tepera were recognized for their hard work in preparing our club scrapbook which placed second at the State YAD. Thank you, Vicki and Lisa, for a job well done!!! Mark Tepera was also recognized for his achievements at State YAD. He constructed a beautiful birdhouse which placed first and also received a second place award.

Congratulations, Mark!

The point system was discussed and all members were encouraged to accumulate as many points as possible throughout the year by attending all meetings and socials, attending meetings of other lodges, participating in charity projects, etc.

Refer to your Youth. Rule Book for additional information.

Flag bearers elected were Mark Tepera and Nora Skrabanek. Our thanks go to David Pechal and Gene Edward Skrabanek who have done a great job while serving in this capacity for the past year.

Members will begin constructing a gift for their parents at the October meeting. It will take approximately two meetings to complete so be present at our next meeting so that you will have something special to present to your parents at our annual Parent Appreciation Banquet in November.

Members were also reminded to turn in a letter of nomination for the outstanding parent award. This

nomination must be turned in no later than the November meeting and must state what that member's parent has done for our club since our last banquet. Parents, please encourage your children to do this as we are considering this as a project.

Our August project was to collect aluminum cans. Kathy Billeck and Billy Joe I3illeck turned in the most cans and were the winners of a soft drink six-pack. The cans will be sold and the proceeds will be given to Muscular Dystrophy.

Rather than have a social in September, the members voted to donate $75.00 to Mrs. Alfred L. (Ginger) Klusacek. Ginger has been ill for quite some time. We all want her to know that we wish her a speedy recovery and hope that she will be able to attend our lodge meetings soon.

The project assigned for September is for each member to visit a shut-in. Bring a note from your parents to the October meeting stating that you did visit someone in order to qualify for points for this project. Remember, what you sow is what you will reap, so sow a little sunshine and happiness into someone's life this month!

We thank Mrs. Emilie Stuteville for getting our members started on some Czech Christmas songs. We look forward to being able to perform these songs during the Christmas holidays.

Door prizes were won by Shana Patterson and Vicki Tepera. Games were played after the meeting.

Steven Mikeska and Roderick Hutka were winners in the ball-throwing contest, Mark Tepera was the winner in the cracker-chewing contest, and Michael Hutka was the winner of the bean-guessing contest.

LODGE NO. 30 HELD MEETING Dear Vestnik Readers, The Taiton SPJST Youth Club held its monthly meeting September 6 at the Taiton Community Center, at 2:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order

Under new business we discussed selling Stanley Products.

We decided to have 10 cakes auctioned off at the Dime Box Firemen's Picnic held September 6, 1981. Everyone would like to thank all the mothers who donated these cakes to our youth club.

All the new officers for 1981-82 were initiated by Mrs. Madeline Iselt.

LODGE NO. 187, ROUND ROCK The SPJST Lodge 187 Youth Club left for Astroworld at 6:30 a.m. They traveled to Houston and spent the day at Astroworld returning to the lodge at 11:15 p.m.

We would like to send our thanks to Mr. Rosenbusch for driving the bus.

In addition we would like to thank Mr. Oman for taking his van and Mrs. Giarrusso for taking her car. It was a lot of help having them there with 23 youth to keep track of Thanks again.

COTTONWOOD YC MAKES DONATIONS Dear Readers, We held our Lodge No 6 Youth Club meeting Sunday, August 30, 1981.

Youth Leader`Willie Mae Schuetz. reported that the youth club had purchased an electric cooker for the kitchen and gave $50 toward the advertisernent of the picnic.

We have been practicing Beseda which we have performed at the Westfest. We set up the booth at the Westfest grounds and decorated the float for the parade. One Saturday we baked 75 dozen of kolaches to sell at our booth.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, October 4th.

He was born on March 24, 1923 in Bailey, Texas. He had worked for the Corps of Engineers in Alaska, served in the Sea Bees in Hawaii and on Midway Island during World War II; worked as a mechanical engineer for Humble Pipeline in West Texas, for Create Petroleum Corporation in Venezuela, and for Esso Libya before joining Coastal States Crude Gathering Company in 1968. He worked for Coastal in Corpus Christi until four years ago at which time he was transferred to the Houston office.

Services were held at 10 a.m.

Wednesday, August 5 in Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas with the Rev. Henry E. Beseda officiating. Interment was in the Danbury Cemetery.

Sister Vrla was born in Ennis November 2, 1896, the daughter of John and Mary (Hosek) Kudrna.

February 25, 1919 she was married to Frank B. Vrla of Ennis. They made their home in Ennis where Brother Vrla was vice-president of Ennis State Bank. Brother Vrla retired in 1968 after fifty-one years of service and in 1976 they moved to Mesquite. Brother Vrla died on October 17, 1979.

She was a Gold Star Mother of World War II having lost a son, Edwin F. Vrla, in France in April, 1944, who is buried in Jefferson National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

Sister Vrla was a member of SPJST Lodge No 25 and St. John's Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons: Arnold M. and Frankie B., both of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Millie) Breden of Bethalto, Illinois and Mrs. August (Mary) Beran of Dallas; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Louis J.
