SPJST Computer Project Progressing This past week the home office staff was busily converting more data and learning additional procedures to issue a "smooth as possible" transition to the projected computer generated reports. Gordon Mann, VP of Technical Operations and Barry Floreth, Technical Consultant, both of USSI of Orlando, Florida along with Gene Autrey of

IBM furnished their expertise in training our people. No set target date has been set for the actual implementation of the computerized system, but, with the initiative and enthusiasm being displayed by the SPJST staff we are optimistic that the conversion will take place in a few months.

Supreme Lodge President Nick A. Morris presents plaque and check to Delores Dobecka, which entitle her to a scholarship in the amount of $600, which is available to her when she decides on the college, university, or trade school of her choice. Delores is a member of Lodge 6, Cottonwood in District III. The scholarship award covers the period from 1 June 1978 to 1 June 1981. Mrs. Sill was born in Preave, Czechoslovakia where she married Alois Sill. Out of this union seven children were born: two while the family was still in Czechoslovakia; three of her children are still living, namely, George, Bill, and Raymond Sill.

Sister Sill worked as a seamstress for Haggar Slacks and Clockwise Fashions until she retired at the age of 90.

Whenever you are talking to yourself stop to think of it, your mind never sleeps until your body sleeps.

All day long you are talking to yourself except those relatively few moments when you are talking to others, or when you may be resting your eyes on a printed page and read the thoughts of others. When you stop to think of it, you are talking to yourself most of the time.

In case you are a city dweller, and have to shave every morning as most of the office workers do, you stare at yourself in the mirror while shaving and talk to yourself. If you take a shower, you talk to yourself, unless you practice singing while taking a shower. Then you sit in your office staring vacantly at the pile of paperwork in front of you, and you are talking to yourself. You walk a few blocks to meet the other fellow and you are talking to yourself. Your thoughts are like a continuous stream, like a river, it flows on and on. Of course, when this stream of thought ceases to be controlled, gets set on a specific idea, or becomes a disconnected flight of ideas, you are a candidate for admittance to a mental hospital.

And that happens to one person out of approximately 200 individuals that he develops some variety of thought disturbance some time during his lifetime.

It is no wonder that the Prophet of old said, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is:' It could not be otherwise. For the hours and weeks and years of talking to yourself make you what you are.

If we have men who are kindly, sympathetic and tolerant, they have learned to look at others with understanding—because they have been saying the right things to themselves. We have men who are magnificent in their courage and in their leadership, while others of equal native ability may struggle in the race of life—and the difference is in what they say to themselves.

We have people who are little and sometimes rude, a pain to themselves and to all who meet them — because they have been saying the wrong things to them selves. We have people who almost bore us to tears with their selfcentered egotism, and others attract us because their thinking is broad enough to embrace us—and the difference comes to the things they

have been saying to themselves for years.

The fact that we are so constituted that we never cease talking to ourselves is hard to face, for it gives us so little excuse for blaming our state of mind and our lot in life upon the world in general or any one in particular. *** Oftentimes we hear how much protection do you need. Majority of the SPJST members have either one or two certificates. The first one is usually written for only one thousand dollars or more. The other was probably acquired when a member felt that one thousand dollars worth of life insurance would barely cover the inescapable debts.

So the member realized that he did not have any provision for his wife, if she should become a widow, and nothing for the children. Consequently, the second certificate is, in most cases, for more than one thousand dollars.

This fact is mentioned to remind our members to re-examine their needs. Probably some of our members joined the SPJST for the reason of just "to belong." The idea of protection was not of such importance.

But conditions have changed since our days of long ago. You may feel your responsibility more keenly than you did several years back.

How about taking inventory of your insufficient life insurance program and contact one of the SPJST's trained sales representatives within your district area, and they will be delighted to assist you in your needs. Although you may have one already, you may need another one or your children may need that protection, to be carried out until their college age, irrespective of what may happen to you in the meantime.

This is only a brotherly hint. We all like to postpone the things, but one thing cannot be postponed — the Reaper with a scythe—called death! ***

VI Fall Meeting

An Invitation To District VII Meeting San Antonio Lodge No. 133 held their regular monthly meeting August 16 at 1505 S. Gevers Street.

The president convened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance; also a moment of silence was held for all departed sisters and brothers of our lodge.

Minutes were read by Secretary Netek and they were accepted as read. The treasurer's report was given by Sister Viola Mazac and it was also accepted as read.

There were 19 members and two visitors present.

We were privileged to have District VII Director Sister Thelma Hrncir and her husband Brother Eugene Hrncir with us. Sister Thelma gave us a very good up-todate report on the progress of the SPJST. She mentioned that we are no longer what you might refer to as a small fraternal organization; it is big business. A lot of progress has been made in the past convention are now in motion; also, that it was suggested that a thorough check be made to see if the dividends to the members could be increased.

Her report was very complete and we appreciated her visit very much.

Brother Hrncir gave us a report on the progress that is being made at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Homes; the report was very encouraging.

Further discussions were held about the forthcoming District VII meeting which will be held in San Antonio, September 20 at the PolishAmerican Center, located at 2611 Mission Road. We urge all our members to attend this very important meeting. We should consider this as an obligation to attend and practice our fraternalism. The hall will be opened at 12 noon, registration will begin at 1 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 2 p.m. There will be coffee, sandwiches and kolache, and other pastry available prior to the meeting.

We welcome all members and officers from other lodges and also the Supreme Lodge office to be our guests. We were notified by our District VII Director that the policy to have someone attend our district meetings from the Supreme Lodge will be discontinued for the reasons that it does become very expensive in sending our officers from the Supreme Lodge throughout the State; also that most of the information that the membership should have knowledge of, is known by the district director, so it should be the director's responsibility to attend the meetings, and to keep the members informed. We support this action very much.

In conclusion we want to, once again, remind all of our members in San Antonio to remember the date: September 20 District VII meeting at the Polish-American Center, 2611 Mission Road.

Lodge No. 88 News Our regular Saturday night dance, August 22nd, with music by the Knights of Dixie, which is always a lovely dance with everyone dressed according to our dress code, was hosted by: Carlene Carlock in charge

and in the box office her husband, Ed, with Bob Allbritton seating the guests while Margaret Allbritton greeted the guests at the door.

Carlene and Ed both are also on the Social Committee and devote their time every Thursday night. Of course, there are 22 members in all on this committee; Margaret is our lodge treasurer, and. Ed serves on the Board; Bob is an all-around helper wherever needed, so you see it takes a lot of individual members to make up the working force at Lodge No. 88. It also is satisfying to see our guests contented with our dance code rules which apply to certain dances.

The Saturday, August 29th dance, with music by Claude Marty, had a fair attendance; in charge of this dance included: Gus Urbanovsky and his wife, Ann, at his side and Benny and Stacy Kocich helping.

Both ladies wore lovely gowns; this was also a dress-code dance. All four of these members devote their time to other activities in the lodge. Gus and Ann Urbanovsky, both are on the Social Night Committee and Benny and Stacy Kocich are members of our Choral Club. They experienced a nice 16-day trip to Czechoslovakia to visit with Benny's relatives; at last Wednesday's rehearsal, Benny played some songs he taped in taverns (hospody), while there, which we enjoyed.

At Table No. 24 the same group of members congregate at dances. This time Noble and Kay Keaton and Edgar and Edna Ruppert were on the spot to celebrate Don and Audrey Jeters' special triple-date celebration, all in August: Audrey's birthday on the 24th, Don's on the 25th, and their wedding anniversary on the 28th. During the intermission, a combination anniversary and birthday cake appeared with lots of delicious food. Have many more!

Two Tables, 8 and 7 were surrounded to extend good wishes to three celebrants: Annie Green's birthday on the 12th, and Della Glumb's on the 27th, the same as Emil Slanina. Annie Green baked the birthday cake (a delicious Italian Cream Cake) which was served during the intermission with lots of other goodies. As a special birthday gift, Emil had a visitor; his granddaughter, Charlotte Smith, of Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire.

From here she was on her way to attend Flight Training in the U.S. Air Force. Emil is very proud of his granddaughter.

Brother Frank Tymel is one member who attends most of the time This time Frank escorted a lovely lady all dressed in a pink chiffon gown by the name of Irise Ruddell; before the dance they enjoyed the Blue Room's refreshments. It was nice to meet you Irise.

Alex and Wilhehnina Mendosa with Bob and Margaret Allbritton came to the Blue Room in a happy mood. No wonder! Alex and Wilhelmina were celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary and the day was the 29th of August when they pledged their marriage vows. The four enjoyed a lovely dinner in Bord man's Restaurant and topped it off with cocktails in our Blue Room. Wilhelmina was dressed in a light blue chiffon and a pink corsage. Very nice!

Twin sisters Agnes Lopanec and Helen Velek celebrated their

Jerry Velek was the top cook and turned out a most delicious barbecue, while all the trimmings were prepared by daughter, Shirley Tod. Other birthdays included Brother Edwin Velek on August 18, son-in-law Rodger Atkins on the 12, and the 15th wedding anniversary of their daughter, Shirley. I call it a blowout of celebrations. Many gifts were opened and games played all day long. Best wishes to all celebrants. Agnes and Helen, with their spouses, are regulars at all our dances.

Betty Jean (Slovacek) Smith of Virginia visited with her mother Irene Slovacek for 4 days and, during that time, her mother with her aunt, Irma O'Conner, gave Betty Jean a whirl around town. Betty Jean winged in without her husband; he was tied up with business and she wanted to see her mother before school; she teaches.

Arnold and Naomi Spencer spent a couple of days in Louisiana to visit with Arnold's family and now they are off to Corpus Christi to try their luck at fishing. Naomi is taking a breathing spell from typing the lodge history, but will continue when she comes back.

Ann and Gus Gerlich returned from an 11-day trip to Alaska, Sunday, July 26th; they boarded the SS Rotterdam July 16 at Vancouver, BC on a 3-day cruise through the inside passage to Juneau, Alaska; then by motorcoach to Tongass National Forest and Mendenhall Glacier; from there to Yankee Cove boarding a 150-passenger vessel cruising the Lynn Canal for 62 miles to Scagway; then by motorcoach to White Horse over the historic trail of 98; next day to Beaver Creek; the following day to Fairbanks and toured the city and the museum of U. of Alaska, which houses an outstanding display of Eskimo Artifacts and mounted Alaskan wild animals; also made a stop at Arans Alaska Pipeline where it is elevated over one of the rivers; then by motorcoach to Mount McKinley Park and Anchorage; then Portage Glacier and the Ski. Resort Slyeska, one of the highest mountains in that area. Slyeska is an Eskimo name: The great one. The Gerlichs reported having a great time.

Sister Earline Hoffman, proud mother of Mary Hoffman's achievement in obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and Certificate of Proficiency, August 21, 1981 from the University of Texas School of Allied Health Science at Galveston; Mary is employed at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Congratulations!

Brother Al Lopes, two weeks ago, had an operation in the Methodist Hospital to have his right arm amputated. Al was in a serious car accident about seven years ago and had his arm in a sling all this time.

Now, after seven long years, he finally will have an artificial arm. Of course, it will be some time yet and he is hopefully looking forward to it.

Al, we were happy the operation was a success. His friend Victor Gerlich called from the hospital to let me know. Thanks!

Sister Edna Wehring is a very busy lady; her husband, Willie, and she operate a catering service and, besides, they both are active on the Social Night Committee and Willie serves on the Board of Trustees. To

celebrate her 50th birthday (half a century), she had several friends over at their lovely home Saturday, August 29th. Happy Birthday, Edna!

Just a reminder for Sunday, October 11th, at Lodge Pokrok Houston No. 88, the District V meeting will be held. A nice program is planned including a delicious dinner and a free dance for everyone who will attend the meeting. Mark your calendar; time passes fast and you might miss it. Remember, October 11th!

Dear Members and Friends: Just a reminder of our next meeting Sunday, September 13.

School has started and the mothers were probably ready. Rome Milan left for the University of Texas in Austin and Talon Milan for Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, where he received a scholarship.

We extend our sincere sympathy to Sister Wilma (Phemister) Beard and family on the loss of her husband and to Sister Albina Kubala and family on the loss of her husband, Brother Emil Kubala. May they rest in peace.

We enjoyed having Sister Mary Fojtasek of Temple at our social last Friday night.

A group from our lodge had the pleasure of attending the 45th wedding anniversary celebration for Brother John and Sister Victor Murphy of Lodge No. 92. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening. May they have many more years together.

Our country/western dance was well-attended and had many requests for the return of Rick Garner. We will Saturday, September 19 with Rick Garner and Rick-O-S hay.

We got that much-needed rain today.

Taylor Lodge Meeting September 13 Next

Our Lodge No. 29 held its monthly meeting with President Edwin Adamek presiding.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Roll call of officers showed all present, except Parliamentarian Geraldine Steger.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read, and the treasurer's report plus the Property Committee report were also given.

Sympathy acknowledgeinent was read from the families of Alice Zurovetz, Alfred Meiske and Joe Zimmerhanzel.

New members accepted into our lodge are: Dorothy Albina Mikus and Blake Jansen. Members transferred from Lodge No. 20 Granger are Cheryl Caden, Barbara Caden, Craig Caden and Tom Caden. Scott Melton Zetak transferred to Lodge No. 177.

Esta Belle Hubenak and Inez Krivanek slipped off over the weekend to Louisiana Downs. They were able to get back home so we presume they broke about even.

Lydia Palachek and Florence Greer both had implant surgery on their eyes. Mary Hubenak was in the hospital for several days and we are glad that she is back home again.

Several of our members have been sick at home but most have recovered by now.

In our last meeting it was voted and passed that the men who were sick enough to go to the hospital from now on would also receive $3.00 as well as our ladies. The Sunshine Chairman, Lillie McMillen, requested that if anyone knows of any of our members who are sick or in the hospital to please let her know. Phone No. 292-5367.

Czech Cultural Society Reporting Dear Members and Readers, On Sunday, October 18th at this year's State Fair in Dallas, Texas, the 41st. Czech Day celebration will be held.

An official program will be available later as an insert to the Vestnik, detailing participants, their scheduled times and location of performances.

As usual, food, drinks, souvenirs and related material will be available throughout the day.

It is regrettable to announce that church mass will not be held on the State Fair grounds this year. This will be an inconvenience to many, I know. The entire building and auditorium were leased without due regard to oral promises given to the Czech Cultural Society.

To those of you who have "Roots" in the Czech culture by birth, marriage or association, this once-ayear meeting is important. It is delightful to see the young children, in native dress, do the folk dances to the best of their ability. Credit, of course, is due the instructors who have the patience to teach the youngsters. Where else can a person meet old and new friends from every direction from Dallas with distances covering hundreds of miles? The songs, so familiar, sung by the choral groups or played by the various instrumental groups should bring back memories of happy times dancing, listening to concerts or when enjoying family gatherings years ago with parents, relatives and friends.

When many of us wear the native costumes from Czechoslovakia or just a vest or ribbon designating participation in the Czech Day festivities, does not the heart,beat a little faster when the stirring Czech marches or anthems are played? Of course this occurs, and pride is exhibited by all in attendance. To all of us who participate, the costumes are the best; the music and songs are

the best; the food is the best; as an average, the gymnasts are the best; the various talents of the individuals are among the best; and best of all, we are perpetuating all forms of Czech culture.

We wish to extend our invitation to all of you to set aside this Czech Day and make an effort to attend this occasion. The Czech Bond will be ever stronger when we all share this common goal.

Eligibility criteria for the study are stringent, making patient recruitment a massive task. It is an effort that needs support from a wide variety of media channels. We ask you to join us in this important work by printing the enclosed press release in your association's newsletter.

Funded through a five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, the study intends to establish a definitive link between cholesterol and heart disease, and specifically to investigate whether a maximal reduction of cholesterol will cause a regression in the disease process. Texas Czechs Revitalize Organization The Czech Ex-Students Association of Texas, (CESAT) had its beginnings in 1909 at the University of Texas in Austin. Several students of Czech background formed a club to study, perpetuate, and promote the Czech language, and that organization in its modern form is still carrying out this work today.

Despite its name, CESAT welcomes as a member any Texan who has a background in Czech cultural affairs and demonstrates an interest in pursuing the goals of the organization, even if he has never enrolled in a Czech language course.

CESAT helps young Texas Czechs finance their university educations with low-interest loans and awards grants to support worthy projects related to Czech-American affairs.

Publicity Director John Karas of Houston notes that CESAT has become more active recently and is currently recruiting dedicated members of the Czech ethnic group in Texas to "help achieve a true renaissance of Czech language and culture in the state." A current high priority project is to aid and help_ coordinate Czech language programs at all levels across the state. CESAT is not affiliated with any church, fraternal organization, or other group, but seeks to work together with any individual or group in concert with its goals.

NEWSBRIEFS Mrs. Henry E. Vitek of Granger, Texas and wife of Henry E. Vitek, SENT District II Director, has been a patient at Seton Medical Center, Austin,Texas for a series of exams, therapy and treatment for multiple ailments during the month of August. Mrs. Vitek has now improved and returned to her home and relatives and friends wish her a speedy recovery.

Head of the Youth Department Dear Members: I echo the sentiments of State Youth Director Thomas above and wish to make a few observations of my own.

It was again a pleasure acting as MC for this year's State YAD. I thought it went rather smoothly.

Still, no matter how many times you are involved in these programs you see room for improvement and we will try to incorporate these improvements next year for an even shorter and more efficient State YAD. We finished this year right at 5 p.m. I may be mistaken, but I think this is something of a record. I believe that everyone was ready for the day to be concluded when it was.

The one big area that I think we can shorten and avoid considerable confusion in is during the awards presentation. Instead of having second and third-place craft winners come onstage during that time, they will be asked to remain seated in the auditorium, since we give trophies only to the first place winners. All winners — first, second and third — should have received their ribbons by that time because they are placed on the craft items themselves. We will, however, continue to announce the second and third-place winners' names because I think the youngsters deserve it and their parents would like to know. As we could see this year, when names are called the youngsters automatically and instinctively advance to receive something and since the ribbons have been previously placed on the crafts we will not ask the second and third place winners to step forward.

This should avoid some of the confusion.

You noticed that this year we were able to avoid some of the con fusion by not asking all the participants to come onstage until after the Reseda and all talent awards had been given out. Next year we won't ask them to come onstage until after all awards have been given and just before the closing remarks and the passing out of the participation prizes. Next year the participation prizes will, be handed out at the foot of the stairs with recipients coming both off the stage and out of the audience.

This year, we handed out 190 fivedollar bills as participation prizes.

The caterer reported 188 adult (11 and over) plates being sold and 38 plates to those 10 years of age and under. I estimate that there were a total of between 350 and 400 persons in attendance, including contestants.

One of the minor "wrinkles" we had this year was with one of the judges arriving late. This always stirs confusion and concern about whether the judges who are present should proceed with the judging or continue to wait. This year, I

authorized the judges present to start their judging and the one judge arrived: just a few minutes late, so there was no major problem.

Next year, we will ask the judges to arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes before the judging is to begin. Other than that, we had only one complaint, the makers of which chose not to pursue. Another minor one, which does sometimes occur, involved disagreement with the judges' decision. In this one case the scores were re-checked and found to be correct and the judges' decision stands. Although we may not always agree with the judges, how else are you going to determine the standings of the participants?

Generally speaking, you were a good, attentive audience. We realize that youngsters who are not directly participating get nervous and impatient and have a tendency to want to move around in the auditorium, but I don't know of any other way to curb this except by constant and polite reminders that such activity distracts and intrudes upon the performers' concentration.

Like SYD Thomas, we could not have put this "show" over without the help of about 60 people who were working backstage and out of sight in so many capacities. The new ones, as well as the old hands, did their jobs in a superb manner. We are grateful to all of them. To all of you youngsters, who came and participated in whatever manner, and to the parents who brought you and all of the visitors, we express our appreciation. It was a good day and we salute all the winners. We're already getting ready for next year's State YAD. We hope you are too.

For those of you who are not familiar with the location of Lodge 29, there are two or three ways to get there, but rather than go into a lot of detail, I will give you the principal directions from downtown Taylor. The main thoroughfare north and south through Taylor is Hwy. 95. One block south of the first red light coming into Taylor from the north (Temple) take Hosack Street for one-half block, then turn right on Porter Street for two

blocks, then continue left on Thorndale Ifoad approximately one and one-half miles to Lodge 3;29. (See accompanying sketch).

We are greatly indebted to the officers and members of Lodge 29 for agreeing to host this year's royalty in their very comfortable lodge surroundings. We are looking for a good attendance by the parents and supporters of our youth on this day. Come and enjoy it with us.

From the State Youth Director A REVIEW OF STATE YAD Congratulations to the winners at State YAD in Temple, August 23!

The craft items varied in design, ideas and workmanship. After the judging, all of the judges remarked about the good quality of items displayed and their difficulty in reaching a decision. There were a total of 157 entries in craft this year and a total of 220 contestants participating in all competitions. There were 16 contestants in Beseda competition, 52 in talent, and 12 scrapbook entries. The competition was good and that is where the youth leaders can start working toward good entertaining numbers for next year. There was a variety in all competition and a big percentage of the youth club members participated in group talent. All of this shows that the youth leaders and assistants are doing a good job and receiving cooperation from the young people and their parents. Keep up the good work! Let's make the judges work twice as hard next year! Start making plans now for next year's YAD; don't wait until next summer.

I want to thank everyone who had a part in the State YAD. The day was a success, but it took the interest, work, and help of all of you to make it so. Some of you traveled several hours to get there and I know that you were late getting home that night, but you did put forth the time and effort to support your children. To everyone who helped with registration, backstage, tabtil4t49n iknd Inany, jobs that '

were required to make a successful day, thank you. Without the help of each of you, we could not have had such a smooth-running program.

A special thanks to Brother Nick Morris, our Master of Ceremonies.

He did a superb job in keeping the program moving along so there was no tiresome delay between contestants.

State Royalty is rapidly approaching and I hope you are making plans to be in Taylor at Lodge 29 on September 26, to help encourage your candidates and give them the support they deserve. This year there are six kings and six queen contestants with five dukes and five duchesses. This is the grand finale of our youth year, so I hope that you are planning to be with us on September 26. (See notices in the Vestnik for all details).

DISTRICT V YC ANNOUNCES DISTRICT MEETING Dear Members, We had our District V camp on August 7 to August 10. We had a real fine time. We wish to thank District VII for their hospitality on our first night at camp.

We wish to recognize Louis Hanus as our District V camper. He participated in all the activities with us and he was a lot of fun. We hope he comes to camp with us again next year.

TAITON RECEIVES MANY STATE YAD AWARDS Dear Vestnik Readers, The State Youth Achievement Day was held Sunday, August 23, 1981, at the Temple High School in Temple, Texas.

Many youth members participated in Talent and Craft competition. In Senior Group Talent, our group won second place; the group consisted of Karen Kahanek, Kelly Korenek, Marjorie Treumer, Vicki Dorotik, Jean Dorotik and Marcy Dorotik.

In Scrapbook competition, our lodge won first place, and our lodge was fifth place in Youth Club competition.

ACTIVITIES HELD BY LODGE NO. 9 YC Dear Readers, District I Camp was held August 13 through 16 at Val Verde. The camp was enjoyed by all. I feel the biggest highlight was the party Saturday night put on by the senior age group.

Being a member of the Snook SPJST Club, we had our monthly meeting August 15. We discussed the swimming party we had August 4. The party was well-attended at the Bryan Country Club and everyone had a blast.

Under new business we talked about camp.

August 22 we planned a set up for our annual country store at the Firemen's Barbecue held August 23; also we talked about State YAD for August 23.

After the meeting, refreshments were enjoyed by all.

The last meeting was held September 2 and everyone was asked to bring a pillow case for our autograph party.

We are also excited that some of our members placed at State YAD. They are: Ann Terese Matschek won second place in Pictorial Arts, Home Arts and Talent; Jimmy Schandua placed first in Hobby Kits and Constructed Items; Chris Haag won second place in Handicraft/Miscellaneous; and Shay Orsag received third place in Pictorial Arts.

Everyone had a great time at camp. Shay Orsag got "Most Outstanding Camper" at District VII camp.

Our Youth Club planned a bowling party with parents for Sunday, August 30th. We plan to keep our eyes on Mrs. Matschek, who has a little trouble throwing the ball in the right direction.

The bride, a graduate of Temple High School, is employed at the Home Office of the SPJST Fraternal Society in Temple as a secretary-receptionist.

The groom, a graduate of Temple High School, attended TJC, and is employed at Mid-Texas Artificial Limb Company, as a technician.

After a wedding trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico, the couple will live in Temple.

He was active in Boy Scout work before moving to Llano.

He was an active member of the Llano Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Millie, of Llano; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Millie) Welch of Farmers Branch, Texas; five brothers, Emil of Flatonia, Texas, Ernest of Fort Worth, Raymond of Houston, John of Flatonia, Texas, Frank, Jr., of Flatonia; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ross Bauman, Eugene Russell, Leo Brooks, Jody Jones, Tony Revada, James Saucier, Richard Gilbert and Fred Nyc. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Victoria and a member of SPJST Lodge Velehrad No 19.

Monday, July 20, at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Victoria, with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating.

Interment was in Catholic Cemetery No. 1 in Victoria.

The body lay-in-state at the funeral home until 12:45 p.m.

Surviving are two daughters, Georgia Matthews of Victoria and Helen Morgenroth of Port Lavaca; a son, Julius Sramek of Victoria; four grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

She had lived in Burleson County SPJST Lodge No. 47 in Seaton.

Survivors are his widow, Frances all her life in the San Antonio Novosad of Temple; two sons, Victor Prairie Community. She was Novosad of Corpus Christi and Milton married to John Frank Luksa 28 Novosad of Temple; one daughter, December 1920, in her parents' Elsie Sodek of Temple; nine grand- home. He preceded her in death 14 children; and four great-grandchild- January 1969. EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No 117, Robstown, in behalf of our entire membership, wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to the family of our departed sister AGNES AGATHA HRNCIR, who passed away Friday, March 6, 1981, in a local hospital at age 85.

Sister Hrncir was born January 12, 1896, in Lavaca County and her parents were the late Frank and Mary Rektorik. She was a resident of Robstown area since 1919. Her husband was the late R. E. Hrncir who died August 2, 1959. They were early settlers in the area and made their living farming.

She became a member of SPJST 4 March 1921, just over 60 years ago and, was <a member of Lodge No. 117 in Robstown all those years. Many lodge meetings were held in her home over the years and many of her relatives were active in the local lodge. One son, Eugene Hrncir, is serving as District VII Rest Homes Director and her daughter-in-law, Thelma Hrncir is the director for District VII. Funeral services were held Monday, March 9 at '2 p.m., in the First United Methodist Church, where she had been a faithful member for many years. She was buried in Robstown Cemetery beside her late husband.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Robstown Funeral Home.

Surviving are: three sons, Wilson Hrncir and Oscar Hrncir of Robstown, Eugene Hrncir'of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mrs. Vlasta (Joe) Fabrygel of Robstown and Mrs. Paulie Hrncir of Hallettsville; seven grandchildren.

She is greatly missed by her children and grandchildren, to whom she had been most devoted.

Brother Steiner was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and came to the United States in 1906. He lived in Chicago, but moved to Dallas in 1916. He went to work for the E. M. Kahn Company in Dallas.

In 1918 he joined the SPJST Society at Lodge No. 84. Brother Steiner was Lodge No. 84 president in 1934 through 1936. He was treasurer of the Supreme Lodge in 1941 through 1943. He was very active for many years in various work activities at Lodge No. 84.

Survivors include a son, Frank B. Steiner, Jr., of Dallas; grandson, Stephen Steiner of Houston; greatgrand-daughter, Amber Steiner of Houston; nephew, Frank Malik of Beaumont.

One daughter, Sister Annie Steiner, preceded him in death.

Services were held August 3, 1981 at the Dudley M. Hughes North Chapel, with Brother Cyrill Pokladnik officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas.

Sister Honk was born 16 July 1906 in Russia; her parents were the late Fred and Rose (Malina) Purer.

The family came to the USA when she was about 6 years of age, she first lived in Kansas, then later moved to Groveton and Booker, Texas. She came to Kingsville in 1925 where she married Joe W. Horak, the same year.

She became an SPJST member December 1, 1928, a member of Lodge No 118, Kingsville and after that lodge disbanded November, 1976, she transferred her membership to Lodge No 117 in Robstown, where she was a member until her death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the chapel of Turcotte Mortuary in Kingsville with Rev. Martin Pike officiating.

Burial followed in the Chamberlain Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Joe W. Horak of Kingsville; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Weatherly of Kingsville and one brother, Joe a Purer of Booker, Texas.

1) The verbs PI, jet are imperfective, but the only possible future forms are phjdu, pojedu (never budu jft, budu jet!). In the past they drop the prefix §el jsem, jel jsem.
