This group of happy young people from Warrenton Lodge No. 179 visited the Supreme Lodge on Tuesday, August 4th. The group traveled via AMTRAK from Brenham to Temple, toured the SPJST Museum, Temple Mall, the Temple Police Station, and returned home a bit tired but a very happy and satisfied group. The second happy group that visited the Supreme Lodge on their way to District VII Camp at Val Verde was the Robstown Youth Club. They traveled by their bus, the "Speejest”. Adult chaperones were Betty Jurica, Eugene Hrncir (also driver), Thelma Hrncir, and Kenneth Foerster, shown at the rear.

On August the 4th the Home Office building was like a "mini Grand Central Station" with groups in and out the biggest part of the day. We enjoyed having all of them. Another group that visited was the Floresville Youth Club, but the picture of them was too dark for publication, which we regret very much. Their chaperones were Liz Bielefeld, Polly Bayer, Bob Bayer, Louise Kalenda, and a couple of others whose names we failed to get. They were also on their way to District VII Camp at Val Verde. Former Supreme Lodge Treasurer

Sunday, August 23, 1981, the Unity of the Brethren will gather again to celebrate in worship through the ordination of another candidate into the full-time ministry.

This service will mark the fourth ordination in two years for the Unity of the Brethren: Mark Labaj in May of 1980, Larry Koslovsky in May of 1981, Jimmy Heji in May of 1981 and now Roland J. Chupik, SundaY, August 23, 1981, at 3:30 p.m. at the Caldwell Brethren Church, Caldwell, Texas.

Roland is the son of Charlie J. and Mary E. (Vaja) Chupik of Anderson, Texas, and was born March 17, 1955 in Houston, Texas. He is the grand(Continued on Page 10)

Frank B. Steiner, 96, passed away in the Fireside Nursing Home in Mesquite near Dallas on Thursday, July 30th. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3rd, from the Dudley M. Hughes Funeral Chapel in Dallas, with District III Director Sid Pokladnik officiating on behalf of the SPJST at the funeral home and at graveside services. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas. Bro. Steiner was a longtime member of Lodge 84 Dallas, having joined that lodge on July 21, 1918. He had served as Supreme Lodge Treasurer after the (Continued on Page 10)

Julie Garrett, member of Lodge No 133, San Antonio, and grand daughter of James and Mary Kostel nik also members of the same lodge, recently graduated third out of 530 from John Marshall High School of San Antonio. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Trophy for service to the high school.

Serving as Vice-President of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the J-Club, Julie was also an active member of the Latin Club, Future Farmers of America, and Mu Alpha Theta (the math honor society). Throughout her Marshall years, Julie has won several awards in local and state Latin competitions, regional Math tournaments, district, area, state, and national agriculture contests, and county and school stock shows.

In addition, she has served as manager of the track, volleyball, and

Julie Garrett softball teams, and played basketball on the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams.

NOTICE We need to advise you: Some of our correspondents and reporters are getting your letters in to us on FRIDAY morning and, if we leave them out, they would be worthless; this delays us very much! Please MAIL EARLIER! Otherwise, we will HAVE TO LEAVE THEM OUT! When speaking of making the lodge meeting a "family affair," it is one that has occupied the attention of fraternalists for many years. It cannot be solved quickly or in brief spurts of activity; the desired objective can be accomplished only by consistent, well-thought out effort.

The first step is to plan to put, into each meeting, the elements of interest for the various members of the family. How can this be done?

There is an old story about the man who volunteered to find a mule that had been lost for several days. In a short time he returned with the mule. When asked how he found the mule so quickly, the man replied: "I just figured out where I'd go if I was a mule, I went there and there he was!"

Too many program chairmen disregard this point of view. It seems almost as though they plan programs purely to please themselves. Obviously they have not put themselves in the place of the people whom they wish to interest.

They haven't taken the time to sit down, like the man who found the mule, and figure out just what the people who come to meetings want.

Thus, it follows that it is necessary to take an overall view of the lodge meeting and to try to put into it something that will entertain or interest each member of the family, father, mother and the children, if possible.

What does father expect to get out of a meeting? What will please mother? What will interest the children? A little thought will provide many answers to these general questions.

We know that father responds to opportunities to wear uniforms; to march; we know he likes a chance to express his opinions in front of an

audience; we know he likes personal recognition of various kinds.

And mother? She likes to have an opportunity to wear her best attire.

She likes music . . . recognition of special events and anniversaries .. . she likes the opportunity to visit with other members of her lodge .. . an excuse to get away from the household grind.

Pleasing the children is a little harder, but we know that boys and girls love to ally themselves with groups working toward the same objectives. They like such paraphernalia as buttons, caps and pins. Children respond to and expect tangible reward in return for good performance. These take the form of attendance prizes, scrolls of recognition and other easily-provided objects.

These broad, general hints as to what will tend to make the lodge meeting more of a "family affair" are intended merely to open up lines of thought for program chairmen.

Naturally, they cannot be all inclusive.

The next step is to create more of a sense of fluidity in lodge meetings.

Most meetings, by following the same pattern as previous ones, tend to create a feeling of deadly monotony. It is true that, in most organizations, an order of business is indicated, but the opportunities for variation are seldom taken advantage of by resourceful program chairmen.

The final suggestion would be to put into each meeting as much as possible of the ingredient of "showmanship." This suggests that no opportunity shall be overlooked to stage the meeting in a dramatic, colorful and interesting way. The same stunt becomes doubly effective when "showmanship" is added. For instance, on anniversaries try to have the participants in costume, if possible and also take full advantage of the opportunities your lodge premises provides for effective staging and lighting. Put as many of the elements of the dramatic into each phase of the meeting as possible.

These suggestions are necessarily of a general nature. The successful application rests in each individual case' in the hands of the program chairman and the program committee. No effort should be spared to make the lodge meeting a "family affair" for the family unit is the keystone of the whole structure of fraternalism. *** It may seem like only yesterday, but it was a century ago that Billy the Kid bit the dust.

On July 15, 1881, William H. Bonney, a native of New York City who achieved notoriety as a Southwestern outlaw, was shot down by Sheriff Pat Garrett. Billy was 21 years old — and he had no life insurance protection.

That isn't surprising; in 1881, only a handful of Americans carried life insurance protection. EXCERPTS FROM THE MINUTES OF THE THIRD REGULAR QUARTERLY MEETING OF THE SUPREME LODGE SPJST HELD JULY 14-15, 1981 AT THE HOME OFFICE IN TEMPLE, TEXAS. The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m., with the following Supreme Lodge members present: Nick A. Morris Bernard M. Gebala Leonard D. Mikeska Jerry Mikulas, Jr. Reuben B. Lesikar Ben F. CORRESPONDENCE—Several letters listed in Secretary-Treasurer Mikeska's report were considered and/or read.

REPORTS REPORT OF PRESIDENT MORRIS—The president's report was considered and accepted and filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

Recess for lunch was taken.

REPORT OF VICE PRESIDENT GEBALA—The vice president's report was considered and accepted and filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

REPORT OF SECRETARY—TREASURER MIKESKA—The secretarytreasurer's report was considered and accepted and filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

REPORT OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY MIKULAS—The financial secretary's report was considered and accepted and filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

REPORT OF LEGAL ADVISOR LESIKAR—After consideration, the legal advisor's report was accepted and filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

REPORT OF DIRECTORS—The written and oral report of the directors was considered and accepted on motion duly passed. A comprehensive audit report was also given by the directors. The directors indicated they found everything to be in good order and commended the officers for their fine work and administration of Home Office business. The written report is filed in Exhibit Vol. 4.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS SOKOL—A plaque was displayed which the Supreme Lodge SPJST received from the American Sokol Organization Southern District which was presented to the Supreme Lodge SPJST for continuous devoted support of the Sokol Organization.

SPJST CALENDAR—There was a discussion on what would be placed on the inside and back panels of the 1982 calendar. It was decided to have a picture of the building on the inside front panel and a picture of the employees on the back panel.

PREMIUM REFUND CHECKS—It was agreed to inform local lodges that premium refund checks must be delivered within 90 days and those that cannot be delivered must be returned to the Supreme Lodge within that time period. It was further agreed that uncashed and/or undelivered premium refund checks be voided 180 days from date of issue.

REAL ESTATE LOANS—Consideration was given to the list of delinquent loans in Secretary-Treasurer Mikeska's report. The recommendations for action as listed in that report were approved on motion duly adopted.

FIRST QUARTER INVESTMENTS— The investments listed in Secretary Treasurer Mikeska's report were ratified on motion duly passed.

LOAN APPLICATIONS—Report was made that the Society's readily available liquid funds had been depleted to an amount less than what should be held for immediate cash contingencies because of large loan allocations in prior quarters and a decrease in premature payoff of mortgage loans. After considering the large amount of loan commitments previously committed and still outstanding, it was decided to declare a moratorium on new loan applications until the October Supreme Lodge meeting to allow time to replenish our liquid funds.

Recess for the day was taken at 5:15 p.m. until 9 a.m. on July 15, 1981.

SPJST HISTORY—President Morris reported that the SPJST History is complete, with the exception of a few pictures and it was now up to the Supreme Lodge to decide if the history would be published in book form. After lengthy discussion, it was agreed to postpone action pending a cost estimate for publishing the history in book form, hardback or paperback, and to allow the Supreme Lodge members time to read the copy of the proposed material. The matter was to be reviewed during the October Supreme Lodge meeting.

NEW BUSINESS INTENSIFIED TRAINING—Vice President Gebala discussed the "IT" program. A change to allow sales representatives to volunteer for the program was found acceptable.

TRAINING AIDS—Vice President Gebala requested authorization to purchase audio-visual equipment and a good quality camera both of which would cost approximately $2,000. The equipment would enable our Society to prepare some of our own sales training material. Authorization was granted.

Recess for lunch was taken from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

DISTRICT MEETINGS—Concerning Supreme Lodge Officers' attendance at district meetings, after considerable discussion, the consensus was that since the directors are, according to the by-laws, equal members of the Supreme Lodge, and since they have access to and available all reports and information, and are familiar with all the Society's operations, that they should be the ones to represent the Supreme Lodge at district`meetings.

It was agreed that because of the economics and time involved, henceforth the Supreme Lodge Officers would not be expected to attend district meetings. It was agreed however, that an officer would

Dear Members: The monthly lodge meeting was held Sunday, July 12 with a small attendance.

President B. J. Hlavaty presided over the meeting and Mary Ann Roznovsky led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Patricia Sill was absent from the roll call of officers.

Financial Secretary Daniel Roznovsky recorded and read the minutes from the June meeting.

Second Vice President Robert Sill read the minutes from the May meeting. After corrections in the minutes, from the June meeting, they were approved as read.

Treasurer Inez Greenlees read the financial report and thanked Betty Hlavaty for taking care of the books while she was on vacation.

Financial Secretary Daniel Roznovsky read the insurance report and announced the names of three new members of our lodge.

These included Mr. and Mrs. Bob Roznovsky and Gerald "Sarge" Geraldon. We welcome these new members and invite them to become actively involved in the lodge functions.

A plant was sent to Rose Breckenridge, mother of Secretary Patricia Sill, who had surgery July 13 at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas.

We all wish her a speedy recovery.

everyone involved gave their time and service because they love their home lodge and their brothers and sisters. The day turned out to be very nice; the picnic grounds were enjoyed by many in the shade of the lovely trees; the swimming pool was lively with youngsters and numerous attractions of entertainment to choose from. The Czech Concert Orchestra entertained in the Chandelier Ballroom for 21/2 hours to the delight of the listening audience. The Social Committee entertained from 2 to 4 p.m. with games that made some very happy and some disappointed people, which is natural; at 5 p.m., a free for all dance started for the packed Chandelier Ballroom with music by the well-liked orchestra of Lee Roy Matocha. The day closed at 9 p.m. with many tired contented members to a close on a very successful day; it took countless willing members to make it a success and it was a success! Oh, yes, thanks to all the ladies for the delicious pastries; it was a delight to see all the variety of home-baked goodies; this department was taken care of by the Birthday Club, it was a delight to see such variety.

Thanks, again! This was a large annual affair and another coming up in October, our annual Czech Day; get your Czech costumes ready to take part in the Parade-of-Costumes.

Brother Orville and Sister Juanita Simmons enjoyed a lovely 16-day vacation in Europe visiting several countries; they toured Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. They enjoyed a leisure cruise down the Rhine River and captured quite a few camera shots of historical old castles nestled in the mountains on either side of the Rhine. They had a smooth flight on the 747 plane, but, coming back, the plane developed engine trouble while over the Atlantic and had to return to London for repairs. On their return to New York, they were granted one night extra accommodation before flying back home. Now, they are back home enjoying their new-born grandchild.

Two lovely ladies, Sister Emilie Zemko, and Dorothy Muras of Shiner, Texas, decided to be brave and ventured out on a Hawaiian cruise for seven full days. The Continental Airline flew them to Miami; they boarded the majestic ship, "Song of Norway" and sailed to Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Virgin Islands. Both of them had no trouble with sea sickness; they weathered it like good sailors. They participated in every activity offered on the ship during the cruise. Dorothy loved the sun deck, but Emilie not so much.

Both of them feel good after their adventure and are wishing they could have some of that delicious food served five times a day.

My granddaughter, Kathy Olexa of Austin, Texas where she is employed, took off on a three weeks' vacation with her friend; in two days they reached Los Angeles, California. In Pasadena, they visited friends for two days and enjoyed the Norton Simon Art Museum, Huntington Museum with most beautiful collections. Visiting the Gamble House, reminded her of her father, Erwin Olexa, that he surely would have enjoyed the original construction of the Gamble House of the

early 1900s built for the partner of Proctor and Gamble; it is a work of art containing craftsmanship of design, furnishings, and the beautiful landscaping. The greatest impressions they had of Los Angeles were the extensive busy freeways and most of all the breath-taking coast. They drove northwest to San Luis Obispo to visit with Aunt Ruby and Uncle Kenneth and cousins. Not seeing them for quite a few years, they had to get acquainted all over again. After several days they headed for San Francisco on the famous coastal Highway No. 1 where the mountains meet the ocean and enjoyed the beautiful state beach where daring hanggliders sail through the air. In San Francisco they did everything a tourist can wish for: The Labardo Street, the Coil Tower, China Town tasting all the Chinese food, the cable cars were fun, visited the Wharfs and, for $10, took a three-minute ride on a helicopter to get a spectacular view of the city. In Napa Valley they toured several wine gardens, and, to top it off, several days camping, hiking, and biking in the Yosemite Valley. Both of them had a wonderful three weeks to remember with pictures taken during the trip and were glad to be home in Austin, Texas.

Our hearts are sad in parting with a young man, Robert Allen Pagel (33 years of age) who lost his life in a motorcycle accident July 2, 1981.

Robert was the son of well-known Agnes Pagel. Survivors are Agnes Pagel, his mother of Houston; five brothers, John William of Mississippi, Charles Anthony of California, Michael Joseph of Houston, Albert Jr. of California, and Timothy Lee of Houston. Rosary was held Tuesday, July 7 in the Heights Funeral Chapel and Mass was held at All Saints Catholic Church Wednesday, July 8. Robert was laid to, rest in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Our sincere sympathy to our friend, Agnes Pagel and family.

Advance tickets for Al F'ierson's dance September 19, will go on sale at the lodge office August 17. Be sure and get them in time.

Head of the Youth Department FROM THE HEAD OF THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT STATE YAD- SUNDAY AUG. 23RD, 1981 To: All Concerned This year's State Youth Achievement Day (Talent, Arts and Crafts, and Beseda) promises to be another big day and milestone in the history of the Youth Department of the SPJST. If you are a contestant in anything, be sure that you register in time or are in line before registration time is over. We are allowing more time for registration this year, but your cooperation is necessary because the people in charge of, registration must then move on to other jobs. (The schedule for this day follows this report.)

Please do not put your craft in the display area until after you register.

The lobby for the display is rather spacious where you will be able to wait with your craft until you are able to register. If you have a large craft or several crafts to enter, get your relatives or friends to help you ahead of time. We will again have large signs designating the various craft areas.

Contestants in talent are asked to announce their own selections, but NOT names, lodges, or districts.

Remember that microphones will not hurt you so step right up so that you can be heard.

If possible, get your scrapbooks to your DYC or get them to the YAD during registration time.

We hope you and your club and your district are represented at this State YAD. Do not let them down. If you can't come, be sure to inform your DYC so that your alternate or second place winner may represent your district.

Breaks will be spaced according to number of participants in the contest.

Important reminder to all: Please read or re-read ALL rules concerning all competition. Refer to the current rule book (Revised June 1, 1981).

See you at Temple High School on August 23rd. It is situated on North 31st Street, which runs parallel to IH 35. Traveling north or south on 135, take the Temple (or Adams St.) Exit and go north at the first traffic light, which is 31st St. The building is a large modern, brick structure, very prominent and easy to find. There is a huge parking lot adjoining.

Effective immediately, the following procedure will be in effect at all YADs - District and the State YAD on August 23rd, and State Royalty on September 26th of this year. The purpose of spelling out this procedure is to prevent unfortunate incidents.

Basically, the problem has been with the announcement of a winner or winners, only to find out later that the announcement was made incorrectly or on the basis of faulty information.

All DYCs and members of the Supreme Lodge have been notified of this procedure. The decision on this matter was discussed and approved in the July 1981 Supreme Lodge meeting.

1) At District YADs, the first and most important step that is to be taken by the presiding DYC is when the tabulation results are brought forward to be announced that a recess be declared of however length necessary to double and triple-check

the results to make sure that the results are correct and mainly that the announced winners are correct.

This can easily be accomplished by asking the tabulation overseer to step to one side with the DYC and very quietly going over the results and verifying them. After this has been done, and only then, are the winners announced.

2) It will be publicly announced that any challenges or questions about the results must be made within 30 minutes after the results are announced. If the results are questioned or challenged, the DYC and the tabulation overseer will retire quietly to an area (room) by themselves without showing the score sheets or the tabulation results to the person or persons challenging the announced winners. No one will be allowed in the room with these two individuals. After they have verified the results, they will then come out and tell the individual(s) that the results as announced are correct and will stand. If an error is discovered at this point, a complete explanation will be given to the challenging or questioning party and the DYC will then immediately go to the microphone and announce the discovery of the error and make a corrective announcement.

After 30 minutes, or after this second step, whichever comes first, both the tabulation and score sheets will be destroyed. It is emphasized that the challenging party is not entitled to see the score or tabulation sheets, but does have the right to question the accuracy of the announced winners, In other words, after the challenge has been made all figures will be rechecked to see that they are in conformity with the announcement just made, and if not, corrective steps will be taken then and there.

This should prevent the embarrassraent and disappointment of having the award or crown taken away from the winner and giving it to another.

This is embarrassing and disappointing to say the least. Every attempt should be made to overcome the excitement, emotion, and pressure of the occasion to make sure that everything is in order. The audience will not object to this delay if they know what the delay is about.

(The above will be included in the guidelines and check list being prepared for the DYCs and other concerned individuals.)

From the District Youth Counselors DISTRICT III YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT DAY RESULTS Lodge No. 66 hosted the District III YAD on June 14, 1981 and they deserve a huge pat on the back for their gracious hospitality and for preparing a delicious meal. A big thank you to all the youth leaders, assistant youth leaders, and everyone who helped to make this a worthwhile experience for our young people.

There were 208 entries in Arts/Crafts and 32 entries were presented in Talent. Competition was keen in all categories and it is a

Slow pitch softball proved to be a very popular sport at this year's camp, especially for the junior boys and girls. This scene shows some of them in the outfield. (All photos by SYD Jann Thomas)

There were 68 teen campers with 8 adult chaperones. Total number of campers for both groups was 153.

We could only go to the third EL CAMPO YOUTH floor; then we went to Barton Springs swimming. The water was ENJOYS TOUR freezing; that was the only part of Dear SPJST Readers, the trip I didn't like. Before that, we Lodges 30 Taiton and 50 El Campo had to wake up at 5 a.m. and get went to a garden place and had a ready to go on our trip to Austin. We tour in it. They had little waterfalls in it. left at 6 a.m. and got there at 10 a.m.

I had an exciting and enjoyable First, we went to the museum and time.

DALLAS LODGE NO. 130 YOUTH HAD FUN CAMP Dear Readers, Camp Val Verde was real fun. We had ten people from our lodge who went to camp.

In craft we did a leather art and also painted rocks. We also did horseback riding, canoeing, nature hike and swimming. The food was delicious.

I had a great time and I would like to thank Mr. Kamas and the rest of the staff at Camp Val Verde for a wonderful time.

AN ENJOYABLE SUMMER OUTING HELD BY TAITON YC Dear Vestnik Readers, The Taiton SPJST Lodge No. 30 Youth Club held its regular monthly meeting and summer outing Sunday, August 2 at the American Legion Grounds in El Campo.

Everyone went swimming from 2 until 4 p.m.

Afterwards, we held our meeting.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Vicki Dorotik. The Pledge and prayer were recited.

The secretary's minutes and treasurer's report were read.

Old and new business topics were discussed.

An arrangement was presented to Anita Roye for chaperoning at camp.

We then had a Back-to-School Program. Poems were read. Contest and door prize winners were also announced.

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Monica Krpec and Janna Dornak.

We also sang a song.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Afterwards, we played games.

We ate supper, it consisted of charcoal burgers and all the trimmings. It was all delicious.

I would like to thank Elmer Treumer for charcoaling our burgers and Cyril and Emma Mrnustik for donating the buns.

ELGIN YC SKATES FOR CHARITY We were real pleased with the total pledges of the recent Cystic Fibrosis Skate-a-thon. Lodge member, Paula Becker received first prize in the Bastrop County Skate-athon. Paula is the daughter of Mr.. and Mrs. Ervin Becker of Elgin. Congratulations Paula!

RONALD CHUPIK(Continued from Page 1) son of the late Alois and Anna Vaja who were charter members of SPJST Lodge 142, Houston, Texas.

Also grandson of late Marie and Stephan Chupik, Sr. of West, Texas.

Roland is a former member of Lodge 142, but is now a member of Lodge 189, Bryan/College Station.

He has been active in the Unity of the Brethren on the local and state levels. Locally, he was active in the Houston Brethren Church where he grew up. There he served on the Board of Elders, was president of the local BYF (Brethren Youth Fellowship), and participated in the Sunday School and choir. Statewide, Roland was vice-president of the Hus Ex-Students Association financial secretary of the State BYF and served as president of the State BYF. Roland has served as counselor for the Pioneer and Junior High Conferences at the Hus School Encampment, the official headquarters for all camp programs in the Unity of the Brethren. He also was active in the organization of the Brethren Church of Bryan/College Station and served there for two years as president of the Board of Elders.

In June of 1979, Roland married Patricia Lynn O'Brien of Spring, Texas. Patricia is a 1978 graduate of Sam Houston State University. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business. Patricia's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harris O'Brien of Spring, Texas. She has a brother Leslie and a sister, Millie, both of Spring.

Roland is the youngest in a family of three boys: older brothers are Charlie J. Chupik, Jr. whose wife is Joanne, they have two children — Eric and Jolie. Brother Thomas R. Chupik and his wife, Kathy, have two children also, Karen and Krystal.

Roland received his education from S. P. Waltrip Sr. High in Houston where he was active in the ROTC Program and the Vocational Office Education Program, Houston Community College where he participated in the American Institute of Banking Program, Blinn Jr. College in Brenham, Texas, receiving an

Associate of Arts Degree in Business. He received a BBA Degree in Marketing from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas in December of 1977, also making bean's. ean's List.

August 14, 1981 he will receive his Master of Divinity Degree from Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University of Ft. Worth, Texas. Roland will return to Houston to assume the pastorate at the Houston Brethren Church.

FRANK STEINER— (Continued from Page 1)

East Bernard Convention in 1936 — from 1 January 1937 until 4 January 1943. He had also served as president of Lodge 84 in Dallas from 1934 to 1936.

Bro. Steiner was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on December 3, 1884. He attended school in Mirasov in Rokycany. He came to America in 1906, being processed through Ellis Island in New York City, and then proceeded to Chicago, Illinois, where his mother lived. He attended a training school for what at that time was called a "window trimmer" and upon completion went to work for a store in South Bend, Indiana.

He also worked for stores in Key West, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, then came to Dallas, Texas in 1916 to work for E. M. Kahn & Company.

While in Dallas he lived with the Jim Rendek family where he met Mrs. Rendek's sister, Francis Malik, who later became his wife. The Steiners had two children, Annie Francis and Frank B., Jr. His daughter Annie was a longtime officer of Lodge 84.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1970 and by daughter Annie in 1978. In addition to his son, Bro. Steiner is survived by a grandson, Stephen Kelly Steiner, Houston; great-granddaughter, Amber Leigh Steiner, Houston; nephew, Frank G Malik, Beaumont.

Christie was born July 11, 1973 in Ballinger. She was a student at Bal­ linger Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Samford.

This Roschetzky family was known to me for my whole life. Jim's parent name: (father) Fritz married Miss Sefcik; her. step-father was Frank Neuman, Blacksmith in Buck­ holts. Mary's parents name were Leo and Rosie Majek; they had been farming in the Cameron and Buck­ holts territory.

I have moved .this young married couple and their baby daughter, Mary, from Cameron to Corpus Christi in 1930 to Jim's parents-.

Brother Stanely was born March 14, 1919 in Lee County, the son of the late John Stanley and Minnie Madora Levy Stanley.

Br. Stanley was a resident of Burleson County all his life and lived at his present address in Caldwell since 1952; he was a Veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army with 501 St. Military Police Company 1st Armored Division. He was discharged in 1952 with permanent disabiity received during his army service which caused early retirement. He was a member of the VFW and the SPJST Lodge No 7, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.

He was married to Helen Luedke December 23, 1939 in Lee County.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Stanley of Caldwell; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Joyce) Perez of Caldwell; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Stanley of Lexington and Alton Stanley of Caldwell; one brother, John Stanley, preceded him in death and also a sister.

Serving as pallbearers were Clint Luksa, Ronnie Bryan, Gerald Willard, Earl W. Wiederhold, Bill Watson and Stevie Blaha.
