This sign has been up for a number of weeks identifying the site of the new lodge home of Lodge 186, Caldwell. The sign stands on the corner of the property which adjoins and is just east of Hwy. No. 36 out of Caldwell on the south side of town going towards Somerville and Brenham. Ground-breaking ceremonies were held on Saturday, June 13th. After several weeks delay in the start of construction due to heavy and constant rains, the steel girders for the new home of Lodge 186 were recently erected.
The Cooking Crew at Lodge No. 24 in Cyclone; they cooked a delicious sausage supper for the July 26, 1981 occasion. This is another view of the steel beam, and girders in place. Formal opening and dedication of the new facility 1 ,, tentatively set for Sunday, October 25th.—NAM
M/Sgt. Kiefert Retires From Service M/Sgt. (E-8) Betty A. Kiefert retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. She is the daughter of Anton Kelner, Jr., a member of SPJST Lodge No. 28 in East Bernard. A 1960 graduate of East Bernard
High School, she entered the Army in Houston, Texas. At her retirement ceremony at Darnell Army Community Hospital at Fort Hood, Texas, she was presented the Legion of Merit. Attending her retirement ceremony included her husband. Reynold and son Edward. After retiring she will reside in Plano, Texas.

The celebration of 50-year membership pins was held Sunday, July'26, 1981 at Lodge No. 24 and it was enjoyed by those who attended. Lodge President Dan Sebek got the attention of the people and said the prayer, after which a sausage dinner was served. Then the, assembly was called to order and the special guest, members and visitors were welcomed by the president. Afterwards, he introduced SL Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Mikeska who presented the pin and boutonniere to our honoree. Brother John Bedrich was the only honoree present.
