Frank Surovik of Taylor became the 54th member to outlive his SPJST Policy.
Frank Surovik Outlives Policy The family members and friends of Brother Frank Surovik gathered at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home May 31, 1981 to help him celebrate his 96th birthday. He became the 54th person in the history of the SPJST to outlive the actuarial table for his life insurance policy with the SPJST. A special ceremony was held during which Brother Surovik was presented with a check for the face amount of his life insurance policy and a special recognition certificate conferring upon him all benefits and privileges of an active member. The presentation was made by SL Secretary-Treasurer Leonard D. Mikeska. Representing Brother Surovik's local lodge was Thomas Surovik, president of SPJST Lodge No. 14, who is also grandson of the honoree. Brother Frank Surovik was very happy to have two sons and three daughters in attendance at the birthday party and presentation. His daughters in attendance were: Vlasta Prescott, Marie Martin, and Anna Ohrnberger. Sons present were: Edwin Surovik and Daniel (Continued on Page 10)

Czech Museum To Feature Tours and Displays at Czech Heritage Day Of Temple Centennial
A United States Flag was donated by Lillie Hejl in memory of her late husband, John B. Hejl, in observance of Flag Day, June 14, 1981. Hundreds of artifacts of Czech culture and numerous cultural displays will be featured on June 26 at the Czech Heritage Day of the Temple Centennial. Special tours of these items and displays will be conducted during a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. reception at the SPJST Home Office, 520 North Main in Temple. There will be no admission charge to tour the facilities. However, there will be a nominal admission charge ($3) for tickets to the night program and pageant at Temple Wildcat Stadium.
The SPJST Library, archives, and museum has been developed into one of the finest displays of Czech culture and pioneer artifacts in the
central Texas area. The facility has recently been expanded and renovated and this will be the first large-scale public showing. Visitors attending the reception will have an opportunity to sample the traditional Czech pastry known as kolache. A large number of visitors are expected from areas throughout the state. Historical Exhibit In Ft. Worth! Czechoslovakian and Sokol historical items on exhibit at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Fort Worth, Texas in the Citizens Room during the XV National American Sokol Slet June 24-27. This is a collection of valuable historical items from organizations and private individuals from throughout the United States. These items will be on exhibit daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
