Morris met with the presidents and vice-presidents in the library of the Hallettsville High School, as in the past, and Bros. Leonard Mikeska and Jerry Mikulas met with the secretaries, financial

DAWN OF 'A NEW ERA! We are happy and proud to announce that a historical event occurred at the Home Office at 12:30 p.m. on the 18th of March. The first component parts (4 CRTs - Cathode Ray Terminals) arrived at the Home Office. Other component parts of the IBM System 34 will be arriving piecemeal after this with total installation of the computer scheduled the first week of April. After the total installation of the hardware (the actual computer), systems checks will be run to insure accuracy. Hopefully, most of our manual data will be converted to computerized format by September of this year. At that time, "debugging" of the information will take place in order to "purify" the data.—NAM & BMC-
secretaries and treasurers in one of the classrooms. They decided to hold the joint sessions with all three groups, rather than separately, as in the past. The participants and the two officers felt this was an ideal arrangement. All sections reported an increase in attendance over that of 1979. As in the past, the Hallettsville workshops were hosted by Lodge No. 4 of Hallettsville. Frank Zabransky is the lodge president and Erwin Holy is the secretary. Erwin has been the contact man with SL President Morris in making all the arrangements, getting all the food provisions together and seeing to it that there are cooks available to prepare the delicious meal that was served. The Hallettsville ISD is fortunate to have the use of a brand new lunchroom/cafeteria facilities and these were especially appreciated. Our thanks to Bros. Holy and Zabransky, and especially to the ladies in the kitchen who were Evelyn Holy, Helen Zabransky, Linda Mikush, Victoria Zak, Melissa Holy, and Gaye Galetka. Everything went smoothly and on time. In the Presidents' and Vice Presidents' Section, President Morris had invited Larry Pflughaupt, 2nd vice-president at Lodge 88 Houston, to address the section on the subject of how a young person remains active and holds office in a local lodge after having been in the youth club their 17th year, since this area is and has been a matter of some concern, not only to the SPJST, but to other fraternal benefit Societies, in that we seem to lose our young people after about the age of 16 or 17, only to have some (actually very few percentage-wise) return to active participation in the lodges in their late 20s, early 30s, and later. Larry's remarks were well-taken and there were a number of questions and answers following his presentation. Another young person, with similar qualifications and experience, will speak to the presidents and vice presidents in both the Taylor and Ennis Workshops. This discussion area was formerly launched at last year's Texas Fraternal Congress in New Braunfels, when President Morris arranged for Bro. Ronnie Rieger of Lodge 29, Taylor to address the delegates on this (Continued on Page 10)
