TJC Recetves SPJST Donation TEMPLE Temple Junior College has received a check for $300 from the SPJST Supreme Lodge for use in support of the Czech language program at TJC. The money will be used for partial scholarships for students continuing in the study of Czech and for the improved instruction, promotion and enrichment of Czech classes, club and cultural programs. "TJC is one of the leaders in the state working to advance the study of Czech language and culture and we sincerely appreciate the continued efforts and support of the SPJST toward accomplishing this goal," Dr. Marvin R. Felder, college president, said in accepting the contribution. Nick Morris, SPJST president, said the $300 donation to TJC is part of $8,000 allocated in 1980 to support Czech programs throughout the state by the recent convention. "The SPJST has been making this annual contribution to TJC as well as several other high schools, colleges and universities in Texas for a number of years," he said. "We are happy to continue with the donation. Czech is now being taught at more educational institutions in the state than in any previous time since the 1920's." The TJC Czech program includes a study of the language as well as Czech cultural heritage. TJC was the first junior college in the state to

offer Czech as a foreign language. Czech has been offered at TJC on a regular basis since 1967. TJC now offers both credit and non-credit Czech classes. Jeanette Jarolik is instructor. Morris said SPJST has allocated $8,000 next year for Czech programs at educational institutions offering Czech courses. Among the current recipients are Texas Tech Univer sity, University of Texas, Brazosport College, San Jacinto College and University of Houston.
