Girl Awards

Girl Scout Girl Awards

Bronze. Silver. Gold. These represent the highest honors a Girl Scout can earn. All three awards give you the chance to do big things while working on an issue you care about. Whether you want to plant a community garden at your school and inspire others to eat healthy for your Bronze, advocate for animal rights for your Silver, or build a career network that encourages girls to become scientists and engineers for your Gold, you’ll inspire others (and yourself).

Girl Scout Bronze Award

GIRL SCOUT JUNIORS (GRADES 4-5)

The Bronze Award is a leadership adventure and the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. As you and your team plan and complete your project, you’ll develop more confidence, meet new people, and have the kind of fun that happens when you work together to make a difference. Visit www.GirlScoutsNebraska.org/Bronze to find Bronze Award guidelines and submit intent forms and final reports. Submitting the Girl Award Intent Form allows us to follow your progress, share helpful information, and send deadline reminders. 1. Submit a Girl Award Intent Form. 2. Complete project. 3. Submit Bronze Award Final Report (one final report should be submitted per award project).

Girl Scout Silver Award

GIRL SCOUT CADETTES (GRADES 6-8)

Have you ever looked around your neighborhood or school and wondered how you could make a positive change? Earning the Silver Award—the highest honor for Cadettes— gives you the chance to show that you are an organized, determined, and dedicated leader. GIRL SCOUT SENIORS AND AMBASSADORS (GRADES 9-12)

The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. It recognizes girls in grades 9-12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through Take Action projects that have sustainable impact in their communities and beyond. The Gold Award is viewed by admissions counselors with great regard; you will be eligible for additional college scholarships; and every young woman who earns Gold is eligible to move up one military rank.

SEVEN STEPS ARE REQUIRED TO EARN THE GOLD AWARD:

1. Choose an issue you care about. 2. Investigate your issue. 3. Get help and build a team. 4. Create a plan. 5. Present your plan and get feedback. 6. Take action. 7. Educate and inspire.

To get started, visit www.GirlScoutsNebraska.org/Gold and follow the steps. Once your proposal has been submitted, an interview will be scheduled with the Spirit of Nebraska Gold Award Committee.

Girl Award ceremonies are held each year in May and June. Look for ceremony details in the 2023 Girl's Guide to Summer Fun, coming in December. For more information about any of these awards, contact Member Support at 402.558.8189 or email MemberSupport@girlscoutsnebraska.org.

Pat Meyer Nebraska Gold Award Girl Scout of Distinction Award

We invite girls who earn their Gold Award to apply for the Pat Meyer Nebraska Gold Award Girl Scout of Distinction recognition. At least three applicants will be chosen, and each will receive a plaque, a college scholarship, and a lifetime Girl Scout membership, all provided by Pat Meyer’s family in her honor.

Additional Scholarships and Recognition

There are additional scholarship opportunities available for Ambassador Girl Scouts and Gold Award Girl Scouts. Go to GirlScoutsNebraska.org and search “scholarship” for deadlines, requirements, and application processes.

Thinking about earning your Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award? Check out our Girl Award Workshops listed on page 76 then submit a Girl Award Intent Form* at the beginning of your Girl Award project.
