Every Girl Scout needs a getaway and this may be just the place for you! Camp “Cosmo” Cosmopolitan is a sparkling, river-side camp with programs that are as diverse and interesting as the Girl Scouts who attend them! Home of the Tomahawk Throwing Course and Gaga Ball Pit. This camp is accredited by the American Camp Association which requires thorough and rigorous compliance for operations, staffing qualifications, and safety standards

Created and led by Gold Award Girl Scout, Kim! Attending the individual skill-building sessions is not required in order to register for the Ultimate Camp Challenge but it is encouraged.

Grades 4-12 JCSA Sunday, November 13, 2022; Sunday, January 8, 2023; Sunday, March 26, 2023; Sunday, April 23, 2023 LOST IN THE WOODS Oh no, imagine you were hiking in the woods with your family and lost your way! What would you do? Learn different ways to always find your way—how to read a map or tell which direction is north. Be ready to navigate the path and demonstrate your orienteering skills on your next adventure. You don’t know what a rescue knot is? Learn how to tie the most important knots, from the simple square knot to the lifesaving bowline. Prove your quick thinking and knot knowledge by integrating these amazing skills into different situations! Elm St., Grand Island SHARPENING YOUR SKILLS Knives are used in many situations, whether in the kitchen or in the outdoors. Learn how to properly handle and care for different types of blades. Learn how to carve, clean a pocketknife, safely handle a knife in the kitchen, and swing a hatchet to chop a fallen tree. Roast marshmallows over the flame you make, and carefully extinguish the fire down to its last ember. Saturday, April 1, 2023 Discover the wonders of water as you build water rockets, run a water relay, make rain sticks, and learn how water affects the trees at Camp Cosmo! Take home your own tree seedling to plant and take the Girl Scout Tree Promise pledge, too! The Ultimate Camp Challenge

Grades 4-12 JCSA Sunday, June 4, 2023 – Wednesday, June 7, 2023 You’ve been challenged! Put your skills to the test, and spend three nights at Camp Cosmo, with at least one in which you can choose to sleep in your own shelter. Face off against your friends in competitions that test your fire starting, knot tying, shelter building, and blade safety skills. Spend some downtime hiking the Cosmo trails or try the ropes course. Make your own lunches from scratch and enjoy home-cooked camping meals for supper. Finish off your days around the campfire, singing off-pitch songs, and exchanging unforgettable stories. Grades K-12, Families Saturday, May 6, 2023 DBJCSAF Experience the magic of Camp Cosmo during this open house. Bring your family to explore the camp and enjoy hiking, crafts, songs, games, and much more! Roast a hot dog over a campfire and make s’mores, too. This is a great way to introduce yourself and your family to Camp Cosmo, learn about summer camp programs, and meet camp staff. Adults must register with girls, using the required volunteer-to-girl ratios. Friday, August 11, 2023 – Saturday, August 12, 2023 If you love the TV show Chopped, then show off your cooking skills at Chopped: Camp Edition! After you learn to build a fire, you'll get to go "shopping" to get your ingredients and the race is on. Teams will compete in cooking on a stick, over a grate, and with a Dutch oven. Test your skills and see who goes home with the trophy.
