Improved affordability from Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money

Virgin Money and Clydesdale Bank have reduced the stress rate they apply for residential mortgage applications where the product is variable or fixed for less than 5 years. This change means that applicants can borrow more than they could before, so Virgin Money and Clydesdale Bank are able to ‘say yes to more’ of your clients and help you to secure them the borrowing amount they need.

The amount of extra borrowing that will now be available to your clients will depend on their individual circumstances, income and expenditure. Taking a typical example for joint borrowers with a combined income of £85,000, you can expect to see an uplift in maximum borrowing of up to £40,000. For your higher earning clients (for whom our Clydesdale Bank lending proposition is more orientated) the increase in maximum borrowing can be proportionately higher.

The affordability calculators have been updated for both Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money, so check them out and see how much they could lend.

Here’s some news that’ll have you saying ‘yes!’. We’ve improved access to our Underwriters for your large loan enquiries. You can now call our experts directly with any enquiries for loans of £500k or more.

Direct Underwriter Access for Large Loans: We know that loans over £500k are not always straightforward and sometimes they require a little bit more attention from both you and us.

How can we help? Larger loans can be more complex and sometimes you need to speak to an underwriter before you submit a case to confirm that we can help you and your client. We love figuring out ways to say ‘yes’ to more of your clients, which is why we’ve improved our large loan line minimum loan size from £750k to £500k.

Dedicated to flexibility: Our underwriters recognise that no two customers are alike. They take a good look at your customer’s real life situation and go from there. That means they may be able to help in cases such as:

·Where non-standard income is required (such as investment income).

·Self-employed applicants where there may have been one-off extraordinary costs.

·When a higher than standard percentage of variable income is needed.

So, your customer can secure a mortgage from a lender they know and trust. If you have an enquiry for a loan of £500k or more, you can discuss your case with one of our expert underwriters. Speaking to an underwriter is quick and easy with upfront decisions so you know where you stand.

Aviva - National Campaign with Heart Radio

Aviva has launched a new national campaign, “Aviva Cover Stories,” in partnership with Heart radio to raise awareness about protection insurance. The campaign features Heart presenter Anna Whitehouse interviewing celebrities like Mark Wright, Kelly Brook, and Martin Compston about the people who’ve supported them through life’s challenges.

Aimed at audiences who may not have considered protection before, the stories air on Heart’s Saturday Breakfast show and across digital platforms. Aviva also supports financial advisers with resources to spark meaningful conversations. The initiative seeks to close the protection gap and encourage more people to consider life insurance for a secure future. They’ll also be available on Global Player, the official Heart app, and on Heart’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook
