NatWesthavelaunchedarangeof SharedOwnershipMortgagesforthe firsttime.

Thebankwillallowcustomerstoborrow tofundpurchasesfromaminimumofa 25%share,whilepayingrentonthe proportionofthehousethattheydon’t own.

Overtimecustomershavetheoptionto purchaseadditionalsharestoincrease theirshareoftheproperty.

Sharedownershipmortgageswillbe availabletocustomersmakingnew purchasesandremortgaging,inclusive ofstaircasingscenarios.Shared ownershipmortgageswillinitiallyonly beavailableexclusivelyviamortgage brokers.

NatWest’ssharedownershipborrowing isn’tlinkedtoanyofthelender’s individualproductsandisavailableon mortgagessuchasupto95%loan-tovalue(LTV)onnewbuildsandthegreen fixedrateoption.

Sharedownershipmortgage customerswillalsobeabletoapply foradditionalborrowingaftersix successfulmortgagepayments.

Additionalborrowingwillbeinitially limitedforstaircasingpurposes only.

NatWest Group head of mortgages Lloyd Cochrane says:

“We want as many of our customers as possible to be able to buy their own home. Today’s launch of Shared Ownership mortgages means we are bringing more choice for customers who are thinking about the ways in which they can get on the housing ladder.”
