Emotional Self-Care Tips

Prioritizing self-care leads to a fulfilled life. One aspect of self-care is “emotional self-care” which focuses on nurturing and processing our emotions. In our fast-paced life it is easy to prioritize other people’s emotions over our own and create unhealthy habits that cause damage to our emotional wellness. The emotions we feel vary and are influenced by our thoughts, environment, relationships, and experiences.

Emotional self-care means taking an honest assessment of our emotional state and how we manage emotional changes. It requires us to learn how to acknowledge emotions while not being consumed by them.

Emotional self-care is the implementation of healthy techniques and coping skills. Here are just a few tips to consider in the New Year!

Prayer &

Meditation Regularly allowing yourself quiet time and deep breathing allows your mind and body time to reset. This mental exercise trains the mind where to go allowing you more self-control when your emotions are high.

Set Healthy Boundaries Many of the toxic emotional stressors come from people we know are toxic, yet we allow them to bring continuous chaos into our lives. Emotional self-care is evaluating who we allow in our lives. Is this person toxic? Do they bring situations that trigger me? These are questions that should be closely assessed when allowing people in our lives. If the answers to these questions is yes, then we must do the work to initiate healing within ourselves to understand why we feel obligated to allow this person in our lives.

Do What You Love Most of our lives are consumed by doing what you must do.

Emotional self-care is allowing time to do what you want to do.

Happy New Year! What better way to start the year than to get your body moving? Health and fitness are self-care and hold the keys to a long and enjoyable life. Many people start the New Year with a goal to focus on being fit but fall off quickly and never get back up. Could this be that we place unrealistic pressure on ourselves and expect to change a lifetime full of bad habits to good overnight? Here are a few practical fit tips to creating new healthy habits and embracing a healthy lifestyle.

Manage Your Mindset.

Your mind is where you win or lose. Change negative self-talk to empowering affirmations. If you say “I can do this” then you can.
