QUICK GUIDE OPENING THE HOUSE • Collect keys from Jim & Ita next door - contact details will be provided • Connect gas for cooker outside kitchen window beside barbecue • Turn heat and water to timed on middle central heating panel • Turn on cooker power switch to left of hob

CLOSING THE HOUSE • Remove all food • Bag all general rubbish in green bag supplied & close securely • Bag all recycling in clear bag supplied & close securely • Switch of gas for the cooker outside • Turn cental heating and water to off on middle central heating panel • Bring keys to Jim & Ita next door • Make sure sauna is off • If you use the last of any supplies eg. olive oil, tea bags fuel please replace

Up Here It’s Different So the saying goes, and it’s true.

County Donegal is the wild child of Ireland.

Even before the twins of history and politics conspired to isolate it, Donegal was a place like no other on the island. It’s a county of extremes: at times desolate and battered by brutal weather, yet in turn a land of unspoilt splendour where stark peaks and sweeping beaches bask in glorious sunshine, and little restaurants serve amazing food.

Uncrowded Donegal’s rugged interior with its remote mountain passes and shimmering lakes is only marginally outdone by the long and labyrinthine coastline with its windswept peninsulas and isolated, characterful pubs. Proudly independent, one-third of the county is official Gaeltacht territory, where Irish is the lingua franca.

After its northern start in Derry, the Wild Atlantic Way really begins to strut its stuff in Donegal as the county’s untamed craggy coastline truly puts the wild into the Wild Atlantic Way

OF CONSEQUENCE >> At the time of print the petrol/diesel prices in the Republic are cheaper so consider purchasing in the Republic and not in Northern Ireland. >> Northern Ireland use Sterling and not Euro so prices are not as cheap as they first may appear >> If you arrive in Crolly and low in petrol, there is a Maxol Station on right which also has a mini supermarket for bread, milk etc. >> Your mobiles may not work in Northern Ireland. If they do happen to work, you may incur roaming fees for calls dialled and received. >> The driving tendencies of the ‘natives’ are fairly feckless – please be careful.

LOCATION Teach Loch Fhada is off the road between Crolly and Annagry on the way to Kincasslagh, you will easily find it by entering the eircode F94YV25 otherwise follow the details below. >> Pass through Crolly (Fig 2) on the road towards Annagry >> Turn right onto R259 (Fig 2) (signposted Annagry & Donegal Airport) >> Follow the road about 1.5 miles and take a sharp right turn L5593Follow road about 0.8 miles and you will see 3 pale wooden posts (Fig 3) of different heights/sizes on the right – take the next permitted right turn WHICH IS NOT THERE ANYMORE >> Follow road half mile passed Jim and Ita’s house >> Teach Loch Fhada is tucked down behind Jim and Ita’s (Fig 3) house overlooking the lake

>> Locking the doors can be a little tricky. The front door tends to stick as it is newly painted. Closing/Locking the Front Door – hoosh the handle up hard to about 1pm and lock with the key – if you don’t hoosh the handle hard enough, it will not lock with the key. >> Closing/Locking the conservatory door - hoosh the handle up hard to about 11pm and lock with the key – if you don’t hoosh the handle hard enough, it will not lock with the key. >> Closing/Locking the Utility door - hoosh the handle up hard to about 11pm and lock with the key – if you don’t hoosh the handle hard enough, it will not lock with the key.

THE LAY OF THE LAND >> The house is on one acre of land, 4 bedroomed, three bathroomed & comfortably sleeps 9/10

>> 3 bedrooms upstairs with one bathroom >> One bedroom downstairs with a bathroom >> A sauna/wet room/relax with a double fold-away sofa bed >> One tv/music/reading room – “the lounge” >> One (locked off) computer/study/storage room where the “hotpress’ is >> Kitchen and dining room >> A conservatory >> Utility room – with washing machine, dryer, microwave, fridge freezer & deep fat fryer

>> Two fireplaces – one in the kitchen and one in the lounge >> Oil fired central heating >> Gas cylinder hob and electric oven >> A shed >> Log and coal bunkers out the back of the house >> There is an iron and ironing board and a hoover/vacuum cleaner

ON ARRIVAL WATER/HEAT The heating system control panel is located on the wall on the left as you enter the kitchen/dining room from the hall. >> Press the oblong grey button to ‘const’ on the centre panel in the kitchen beside the door for the first hour of arrival (depending on season and weather) and switch to timed. >> Ignore the switches on the left and right of the centre panels >> Fair Warning – if it is cold and there is an electric outage – go to bed !!!!!

GAS/COOKER Go out the back through the Conservatory door. On your left you will see the yellow gas cylinders for the cooker: >> With both hands, squeeze the lower rim of the black “gizmo” upwards and press the whole gizmo down hard onto the top of the gas cylinder and release the rim in doing so, so it clicks and if you move the black “gizmo” it feels un-moveable. >> Flick the switch on top of the gizmo and you should be connected. >> Inside, to the left of the cooker, you need to turn the switch on to activate the pilot light & electricity for the oven. >> The Maxol petrol station in Crolly carry the gas cylinders for the cooker not many places sell the ones we use.

OTHER APPLIANCES >> Washing machine programmes are ‘3’ for a normal wash whites or darks or ‘Q’ for a quick wash - 36 minutes.

SAUNA,WET & RELAX ROOM >> The light switches for the sauna and wet room are on the wall on your right when you come in from the lounge. Also on this wall are the dimmer switches for the relax area and the controls for the under floor heating. The one at the left, set at 10, is for the wet room and on the right, set at 35, is for the relax area.

>> The main power switch for the sauna is on the wall near the door to the wet room.

Leave in the “off” position when not using the sauna.

>> There are two control switches on the heating unit in the sauna. The one on the right is set at “V”. You should not need to adjust it. The one on the left is effectively the “onoff” switch. Turn it to 2 and the red pilot light at the bottom of the heating unit will come on. Twenty minutes later the sauna will be ready for use and will switch off two hours later.

>> The left hand control on the shower unit is for the overhead, away from you, and the hand unit, towards you. The right hand control is for the water temperature.

>> Shower before you go in, come out 15 minutes later, use the sand timer on the wall.

Repeat as desired. Put a ladle of water on the sauna stones to raise the temperature and help humidity.

>> There are robes, slippers and shorts over the mirror wall in the wet room.

No children under 16 in the Sauna please.

OTHER HOUSE AMENITIES >> There is a bushman burner on the fron tpatio which you are welcome to use we find the best fuel are the wrapepd fire logs you can buy in local shops

>> There is a travel cot in the relax room beside the sauna, please bring your own cot sized linen

>> There is a Nespresso machine in the kitchen, please bring your own capsules, there is also a cafetiere coffee maker

>> There is an Aeroccino (milk frother) in the kitchen please clean after each use (not suitable for dishwasher)

>> There is a stereo beside the TV in the dining area, there are some CD’s there and an input for smartphones

>> There are 2 hairdryers, one in the master bedroom and one in the downstairs bedroom >> There is a sofa bed in the relax room, linen etc. are in the wardrobe/ >> TV - Dining area - TBC

>> Carrickfinn Beach - go down to the main road leading into Angry and turn right - go through Annagry- just past Annagry, turn right at Donegal Airport sign, keep driving until you get to little car park, you can walk from there: wildatlanticwayonline.com/map-of-donegal-wild-atlantic-way/discovery-points/ carrickfinn-beach/

>> Nice beaches in Dunnfanaghy and Carrigart. Cruit Island is a nice drive and a nice beach. Books and maps in the lounge.

>> Mount Errigal of course- Anthony is the expert! But Mark says there is a beautiful drive up around Errigal if you take the left turn just before Dunlewey.

>> Garden Furniture in the shed which you are welcome to use. Donegal winds can be

very high-so when finished/leaving please return all chairs and the parasol to the shed and put table around back in corner between conservatory door and kitchen window.

>> Games - There are cards (in the sideboard of the kitchen/dining room) and various board games in the bottom drawer of the book shelves in the lounge.

>> Fuel - Dry turf for the fire(s) is in the black bin outside utility/back door. Coal is in the

bunker opposite the back window of the wet room. IF you use any fuel, please kindly refill the relevant container from the stock of the fuel which is to the left of the house under the blue tarp for our next guest- thanks!

WARNINGS >> Be very careful of the lake - by all acounts very deep and not suitable for swimming and there are no fish due to the acidity levels of the basin. >> Flies are a new arrival as of May - by all accounts seem seasonal and seem to be not so plentiful in duller weather. Try to avoid letting them into the house. >> Smoking is not allowed in Teach Loch Fhada or on the property >> Sauna is not suitable for children
