CATALINA BU “Hace unos meses iba volando y al hojear la revista pensé: ‘qué ganas de ver mis dibujos ahí’. Poco tiempo después me escribieron… fue algo telepático”, cuenta esta ilustradora a la que le entregamos ni más ni menos que nuestra portada y el reportaje central. Varios días de mucho trabajo y todo el talento para darle cuerpo a estos hombres de tomo y lomo. “A few months ago I was on an airplane, flipping through the magazine, and I thought, ‘I’d really like to see my drawings in here.’ A little while later, the editor contacted me… it was almost telepathic!” says this illustrator, who was invited to adorn this issue’s cover and cover story. It took several days of hard work and plenty of talent to give shape to these manly men.

Porque hoy a ellos se les exige poseer un desarrollado lado femenino, seguir siendo los fuertes machos de siempre y, a la vez, mantenerse muy lejos del machismo, por supuesto. Y ahí esta la masculinidad, “indecisa entre dejarse barba o usar muchas cremas”, agrega. Por eso, asegura que todo hombre admira a quien representa la vieja hombría, la que todos añoran sin decirlo: esa que representa esta lista de notables hombres. After he received our request, this Chilean journalist realized that “defining masculinity in the modern era is an impossible task.” Today, men are expected to have a well-developed feminine side, yet remain as macho as ever, while avoiding chauvinism, of course. According to Campos, modern masculinity “can’t decide whether to grow out its beard or use a lot of skin products.” That’s why he thinks all men admire those who represent classic manhood, something for which we all silently yearn and which is embodied by our list of notable men.
56 DALIA GUTMANN Esta comediante y locutora argentina se entusiasmó con la idea de contarle a los del sexo opuesto lo que piensa acerca de ellos. Es su gran oportunidad, “están sentados en un avión con mucho tiempo y eso me da esperanzas de que me presten atención”. A pesar de que es madre y trabaja en radio, teatro y televisión se hace el tiempo para pasear por San Telmo, uno de sus lugares favoritos en Buenos Aires.

This Argentinean comedienne was enthusiastic about the idea of telling the opposite sex what she thinks of them. Now is her big chance: “They’re sitting on a plane with plenty of time on their hands, so I’m hopeful I’ll have their undivided attention.” Despite being a mother and working in theater and as a radio and television host, Gutmann always manages to find time to visit San Telmo, one of her favorite parts of Buenos Aires.
