While earning a doctoral degree in cognitive science from the University of California San Diego, Jamie Alexandre co-founded Learning Equality, a global educational community that has reached more than 4 million students in nearly 200 countries and territories. The nonprofit makes quality digital learning resources available in communities that have limited, costly, or no access to the internet. Learning Equality is just one of the thousands of ideas that have developed and launched at UC San Diego. “The campus has dedicated efforts to create a fertile ecosystem for entrepreneurship, and our alumni have helped us to become one of the world’s top universities,” says Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “Entrepreneurism is an enduring tradition for UC San Diego. It’s in our DNA.”
