Also survived by 10 grand and 3 great grandchildren. Graveside services were held in the Forest Avenue Cemetery, Angola, NY on Saturday September 6, 2014. To everyone who was a part of Evelyn Thuman’s Benefit
Community by definition is a body of people living in the same place under the same laws. To us it means much more than that. Ever since Evelyn was diagnosed with brain cancer we have received a tremendous amount of support from all around our community. Family and friends have come together all over to help us in many different ways. Such as babysitting while we were at the hospital, dinners while Evelyn and I were at St. Jude, making baskets/donations for the benefit, and volunteering to help run her benefit. We have not even come close to describing the amount of help we have received from each and every one of you. It is a truly humbling experience when you have a benefit for your child then see the turnout, and the amount of people who have your back the day of the event. The amount of people who showed up to help with set up, running the benefit, and clean up, was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the amount of people who showed up to help support our daughter through this battle. Our family could never thank any of you enough for everything that you have done for us these last few months. We will share your kindness and always pay it forward to those in need, and help spread awareness for other families that are going through the same thing as we are. When Evelyn was first diagnosed there was such a flood of different emotions, but in the end the support of our friends, family, and each other is what brought us through everything. Each and every person who has helped no matter how big or how small holds a special place in our hearts. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, thoughts, love, kindness, and contribution in helping Evelyn fight this battle.

Truth told, I’m actually an immerser (tend to get involved, at least socially), and I know I’m not alone, if the active crowd of hundreds at Wed., 8/27 “Party for the Playground” at Mickey Rats is any indication. THIS HAD TO BE THE EVENT OF THE SUMMER! Smiles everywhere, glad handing, hugging, bopping/dancing everywhere. Of course, the upbeat music of the Informers was a major ingredient. Thank you Rick & Lucy for this one, as for so many events of the past. Gratitude to all the sponsors (our friends & neighbors) who always support our community! When you stop to think about it, shop locally has a deeper community meaning. The afterglow of this tremendous event continues through post conversations and laughs. If you were there, you know what I’m talking about; if you weren’t, get on the lobby wagon now so that you too can have this really positive experience next year!
