On July 9th the Eden Stampede 4-H club had another successful horse show, this time at Stagecoach West . We had 22 horses at the show and a big crowd cheering on the riders. Carrot barrels was a fun class to watch! Riders were on foot and their horse had to follow them through a figure eight pattern with only a handful of carrots! In addition to having patrolmen on hand during the 2 ½ day festival, Brant Police Chief Donald Hepkins made arrangements for extra officers to be available during the day Saturday at Brant Summerfest. The officers located in the hospitality tent, were there to provide Fingerprinting services for young children. This has become a yearly activity for the Summer Festival. The parents and children are able to stop and visit with the officers, which encourages an awareness that the police are there to help if the occasion should ever arise. We are thankful to have such a caring group of individuals protecting our Town and Village. The Brant Police also participated in this year’s Brant Fest Parade held on Father’s Day. Janina “Jenny” Poreba Rick G. Beller, 51, of East Eden, NY died suddenly (nee Wowszynski) in his home. He was born October 7, 1964 in Lackawanna, NY. A son of Rich and Jane Beller. He married his wife in 1993 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He worked for the FORD Plant in Buffalo for over 22 years. He was a member of the Hamburg Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Most of all he loved hanging out with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents; Rich and Jane Beller, his wife Lisa M. Hoover, his children; Kyle Gregoire, Kelly, Kassidy and Kurt; his sisters, Karen (Jay) Rizzo, Debbie (Jeff) Day and by many Aunt, Uncles, cousins, especially Shelly and Amy, nephews and nieces. Also survived by his Mother-in-law, LaVerne Hoover; his sister-in-laws, Laurel (Ken) Preston, Lynne (Brian) Guise and nephews. As mentioned in last week’s article, the four Brant Summer Festival Parade Judges had a difficult time deciding the category winners for this year’s competition. However, they did come to a decision and the final winners are: COMMUNITY SPIRIT Brant I Elementary School Teachers/Faculty (Carol Zeffiro, Angela Karpinski and Sandy Fininzio, with special passenger: “Little Abe Lincoln”) MOST BEAUTIFUL 4H Group with theme “Happy Father’s Day” MOST UNIQUE North Collins Veterans Tribute (Jim Lint)Giant red, white and blue Adirondack Chair MOST ORIGINAL Lemke Family “Gone Camping” complete with Tent, Kayak, lake and campfire And as mentioned last week, the Judges had added a new Category to this year’s parade which had two separate winners: HONORABLE MENTION “Gabraham Lincoln” (aka Gabe Igielinski) and “WHAT THE HAY” (Shane Friend) We must point out that it was a pleasure to see the Brant Elementary School Float. If you recall, our Lake Shore District Brant I School closed in 2010. Our teachers were relocated to and our Town of Brant students now attend various Lake Shore schools in the Town of Evans. The Brant I Teachers came back just to participate in this community event and it was great to see them once again! Carol Zeffiro said “We will definitely try to do this every year. We had a BLAST!” In addition to prize ribbons, 4 categories received $50.00 prize money. The newly added Honorable Mention categories received $10.00 each (donated by the generous Parade Judges!). Each parade participant/group received a Brant Summer Festival Participation Ribbon. Honorable Mention ribbons were ordered after the Brant Summer Festival and at a later date, delivered to the winners. It was a entertaining PARADE on a beautiful, sunny Father’s Day. Eden Stampede Visits Camp Pioneer

On June 24th the Eden Stampede 4-H club went to Camp Pioneer in Angola for a fun filled day! We climbed ropes and rock walls to get to the top. When we got to the top a guy hooked us up to the zip line and we jumped off the platform and zip lined down. We had a blast! Then we went to the low ropes course to do a bunch of teamwork related activities. It was a lot of fun. Then we had a delicious lunch and went home. By: Sophia Noecker and Alexis Wierzba ___________
