Over the last few weeks, we have touched on the subjects of ‘You CAN Do It’ and on ‘What ‘Chu Thinking’ in an effort to remind us of just how special GOD has fashioned each one of us. It is highly important that each one of us venture to recognize and appreciate who we are in GOD’s eyes. This is crucial because, on a daily basis, our minds are being saturated with all kinds of information (most of which is negative that develops bad/faulty attitudes and distorted perspectives).

There is such a massive influx of information into our minds that tends, at times, to cause us to forget GOD by leaning to our own understanding(s) about almost everything and everyone within our surroundings (Proverbs 3:5-8). It is stated that each item of information is “competing for our attention. Scientists have measured the amount of data that enter into the brain and found that an average person living today processes as much as 74 GB in information a day, through TV, computers, cell phones, tablets, billboards and many other gadgets.”
Hence, the question becomes with such a huge influx of information competing for our attention on a daily basis, how do we approach and maintain any semblance of sanity as alluded to in Ecclesiastes 12:13 and Matthew 6:33? The term seek in Matthew 6:33 is a verb connoting the act of inquiring (digging) into or discovering something by thinking, meditating, or worshiping GOD (as detailed in Ecclesiastes 12:13).
No wonder there are times we ask the same question posed by Marvin Gaye decades ago, “What’s Going On?” It is apparent that we, each, are aware that we are, in fact, created in GOD’s Image after His likeness (Genesis 1:26-28). Having studied the Scriptures, we know that GOD demanded that we be fruitful while exercising good care (dominion) over the earth and its inhabitants. Yet, we see that we are not living in a world where positive fruitfulness and good care are being practiced. As a matter-of-fact, it seems to be quite the opposite based on how humans, animals and the earth are being maltreated on many levels by humans.
Dear Christ-Sibling, what is going on? How has humanity gotten so far off track from the values prescribed in the Bible? Why are people mean to each other, and divided?
More importantly, the question is what are we doing to negate the hatefulness and divisions and violence and inequalities and injustices?
Why are we not consistently seeking GOD’s guidance in all things within our purview? Has the 74 GB of worldly information blinded our minds about who we are, and Whose we are, and what He expects? Through Christ, let’s demonstrate to the world around us what’s truly going on!
