As we focus on ‘Restore’ this month, may we together: “Embrace the restoring ministry of Christ so that we may show forth the life-giving power of The Christ” as is clearly implied in Galatians 6:1-2. Lord, we thank You for the guidance and wisdom You give to our Leaders to feed us with Your Word here at Southside in Durham!
A few days ago, I read this prayer from one of my study/meditation volumes entitled Jesus Listens and it struck me as being restorative in nature. See if you gather a similar restorative sense from the following:
“Precious Jesus, Sometimes I sense the Light of Your Glory shining on me. As I look up to You with worship in my heart, the radiance of Your Love falls upon me, soaking into the depths of my being. How I treasure these moments with You. I’m learning that the more I fix my eyes on You—in quiet times and busy times—the better I can reflect Your Glory to other people.
I admit that staying conscious of You when I’m busy is very challenging for me. Thankfully, You have created me with a mind that can function on more than one “track” at a time. Help me to remain mindful of You by dedicating one of those tracks to Your Presence with me. This practice benefits me in various ways: When I’m aware that You are present with me, I’m less likely to do or say something that’s displeasing to You. Whenever I’m struggling with difficult circumstances or painful feelings, awareness of Your Presence brings me comfort and encouragement.
I know You can use everything in my life for good—transforming me into Your likeness with ever-increasing Glory! In Your glorious Name, Amen. (Hebrews 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:28).”
Individually and collectively, we can meet the challenge of fixing our eyes on GOD in whatever circumstance/situation we are in!
Again, may the Lord help each of us to focus on grasping/embracing Christ and His victorious restoration of His people! We are here to please and praise and honor and love GOD! And, likewise, we are to help ourselves and others to please and praise and honor and love GOD through The Lord Jesus Christ, and by The Agency of The Holy Spirit Who Is with us always! We (you and I) can do it! So, know that and walk it!
