What a wonderfully inspiring Youth Explosion we were privy to last week! The Lord richly blessed us all throughout the entire event Then, to top it off, two precious souls were added to the body of Christ. That experience served to stir up reverential respect for GOD, His Word, and His Omni-ness (all-knowing, always present, and all powerful)!
Viewing the two elementary-aged children being baptized last Sunday was uplifting, to say the least! It took me back to the Scriptures where it says “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God (Luke 18:16 ESV)," Essentially, Jesus was saying ‘let them freely come to me’ as their hearts are pure.
Both children exhibited firm conviction about Jesus Christ being their Savior. They also displayed confidence in their individual decisions to become Christians; to become His children. Can you recall your state of mind when you decided it was your time to be baptized into Christ?
It appeared these children were gleeful, while at the same time reserved and confident, about becoming a part of the legacy of Jesus Christ!
The books of Matthew, Mark, and Luke each depict how important it is for adults to allow children to experience and join Jesus Christ. Thank GOD for these children’s parents who allowed them “come to” Christ!
Seeing them baptized last Sunday certainly sparked and revived a fire of faith, hope, love, and truth in me. So much so that, on a spiritual level, I’m recovering from the ills that are running rampant in this country and in the entire world. My trust that our Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent GOD Is able to heal the ills of this world! Therefore, He wants us to be as gleefully confident now as the children who were just baptized!
Hence, my zeal for pleasing GOD is enhanced. Congratulations to our new Brother and Sister in Christ! Congratulations to their parents! Congratulations to the Southside church of Christ leaders and members for guiding them to lovingly dedicate their young lives to Christ!
On another wonderfully inspiring note, having the awesome opportunity to sit and converse with youth during mealtime after worship service was extremely impressive and highly rewarding! Thank GOD for the great work that is being done on behalf of the youth here at Southside.
May we all reverence GOD and serve one another with love and respect.
