Well, this past Sunday, after moving from the cordialities and nice greetings, another Sister and I became engrossed in a rather interesting conversation. She intimated that she and her siblings are in possession of some land here in North Carolina. She is petitioning them to use a portion of their land for ministry and goodwill.
Her idea is to build and establish a facility that will be designed for churches and community organizations to host retreats, banquets, showers, etcetera. Now to me, this is an excellent idea! You should have seen her facial expressions, and been able to witness her excitement as she visualized that potential project.
For a few minutes, let’s pause to seriously consider the great ideas each of us has had in our minds that we thought could possibly be accomplished. Yet, for some reason, we lacked the faith in ourselves to speak it, to pray to GOD about it, to act on it until GOD used us to bring it to fruition.
Whew, what a powerful few moments of reflection that turned out to be! Do you agree?
Now, let’s see a prime example of dreams and ideas being realized. Back in 1982/83/84, I visited Brother Stephens’ office talking with him about my dream/desire to open a school to educate our children in respectful and exciting atmospheres. It turns out that he had similar dreams! It took about 10 years for that idea to start being worked on. The Lord continued guiding Brother Stephens on building the Southside congregation, and in 1994 GOD allowed me to help here. The responsibilities I was charged with included establishing a Biblical Counseling presence for Ladies and setting up a viable Ladies’ Ministry (S.L.I.M.-Southside Ladies’ Involvement Ministry).
Here's the clincher. Having the help and wonderful collaboration of some Sisters, upon getting the S.L.I.M. in operating order, The Lord allowed Brother Stephens to give me the charge to open our own School (QEI-D-Quality Education Institute of Durham opened in August 1998 [exciting time] - of course with the help of some members)!
So, Brothers and Sisters, what am I actually saying? What’s the message here?
The Sister with the exciting idea of what she and her family can do with the land they own can see that idea materialize! YES! Of course, it’ll all be in GOD’s timing (I Peter 5:6). Yet, if you (we) have just a little faith (Matthew 17:20; Luke 17:6; Mark 11:12-14, 20-25). I know it’s true because to this day the S.L.I.M. and QEI are here!
Please remember who you are and Whose you are – the very Image of GOD Who spoke everything into existence! He has already given you (us) the power to be like Him! GOD said it, and acted upon His decisive words! Now, you Say That Thang, and do it in the Name of, Power and Grace of Christ Jesus!
